Pittsburgh Penguins signed Rickard Rakell (6 Years / $5,000,000 AAV)
This one does seem to be a little high but if he can play like he did a few years ago then it could be a steal of a contract.

top 3 pick
Why pay to dump Armia when the cap space is not needed? The Colorado trade does not seem too unreasonable to me, it could allow them to keep some of their wings if Kadri does not resign. Savard at the deadline is a good idea but his play this year would determine his value. I don’t see Dallas or Pittsburgh doing those trades, the contracts are just too high and long.

2022-2023 ReBuilds
Not a fan of the signings. Strome would not be bad for the first two years at best but then he is getting paid 6.5 to sit behind Zehra’s (who will likely be better than Strome this year) and McTavish. Perron could be good but he is 34 and 4 years is too much to give their highest AAV deal. Maybe 3 years but I would want to keep it at 2. The Cole signing is my least favorite. I like the aav for 2 years at most giving a 3rd pair d who is that old 6 years is not good. He will be blocking a roster spot and eating up way to much cap.

I would think that if Tkachuk gets $10 mil it has to be for much more than 4 years. He is going to want the security of the term and the team will want it longer for when the cap is higher on the back end.
I also do not think it will be that easy to move Monahan unless all the C options disappear quickly.
I could see ARI making that move

Probably will not get 35 goals again but should still be a consistent 50-60 point player, good signing.

Jones’s cap it is too high but it would take a lot for any team to retain for 8 years. If Chicago is rebuilding why would they try to dump a player that will help keep them above the cap floor?

Interesting idea but I think Islanders pass unless there is an extension in place with Pasta. That also creates a big hole a C that I do not see a way to fill.

I like the Ottawa trade, I think it could be good for both teams. I don’t think Foegele gets a 3rd though. The problem is you only have a 21 man roster and no cap space.

Any contender taking a chance on Murray is a big risk even at 50% retention. Cap is too valuable. It has been real sad to see his career crumble the way it has.

Nashville Predators signed Filip Forsberg (8 Years / $8,500,000 AAV)
This is a great deal for Nashville! They keep their best player for $1 mil less than what I kept seeing cap friendly users willing to pay him to go to their teams. Paying it until he is 35 might not be ideal but the cap will be much higher by then. Him signing anything less than 8 years with Nashville would have been a bad move on his part.

I disagree, I do not think he turns this down because I don’t think his agent even tells him what the offer is. He tells him that an offer was made that is 3 million + below what he would accept for the term offered and then asks if he even wants to know what the offer was and from whom it came. If his agent does tell him he will do everything he can to put up over 2ppg against them for the rest of his career.

I would go Drai > Point > Pasta. Centers are more valuable and harder to come by. Drai is a top 5 center, Point is a top 10 center, and Pasta is a Top 5 wing right now.
Out of curiosity, where did you have Ekblad?
I like these, good fun thing to do.

how much work would this trade need
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Mind</b></div><div>He wasn’t good this year in Columbus but the year before last he had over 70 points, so you’re wrong about that. He’s still young and talented, just needs to find the right fit.</div></div>
He had 72 in 18-19, 44 in 19-20 and then was kept mostly on the 4th line in the playoffs. Then Montreal traded him because they felt several people passed him on the depth chart. Then in 20-21 he had a career low of 24 points. That is two not good years.
I am not saying he is not good I am saying is value is at an all time low and that Columbus should not sell him at an all time low value without at least seeing if he can rebound with someone other than Torts.

While I agree with your assessment of what Fiala could be in NJ centers are just too valuable. Hischier, even with all of the injuries this year, is already a really good 2C lower 1C who is still very young and has a lot of potential to grow.
NJ would need quite a bit of sweetener to consider. They might even want to add Boldy or Rossi.

Kuzy to Seattle instead of Oshie
You cannot get a pick back from Seattle in the expansion draft. They have to take a player without anything coming back. If Kuzy is unprotected then they can take him for free. If you want to get a return for him a trade can be worked out where he goes to Seattle and 2nd goes to Washington with expansion draft considerations and Seattle selects someone else. Maybe Hagelin if you want to shed cap.

Domi has not been good for a couple years now. He just does not have nearly the value he did before. It would be a bad move to move him before seeing if he can turn it around with a new coach. I thought CBJ stole him when they made that trade but mainly forgot that probably 80% of the league just cannot play for Torts.

I would agree that if ownerships wants those two to stay around that 3 year deals would be best. If they do not say that they need to stick around there has been a lot of talk that hextall and Burke will move on from one of them

An argument can be made for Knight but I agree that there should a no chance they use Askarov as the piece to move Duchene. If they feel they have to they would at best use this years 1st but it is more likely that they see what he can do next year before going crazy and paying to dump him.

Next Season if Hyman Walks
I am not sure that having $47 mil on 5 forwards is the best way to go. It just restricts everything else too much to be able to build a full team. Toronto would have to sell off someone any time someone wants to make a reasonable wage like Chicago had to do for years and Tampa is going to have to do now.

I agree it is not very likely but I was trying to show more of the value and that it would need to be a 3-way trade as I doubt Parise would not go back to NJ

Flyers fans tell me im crazy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>You're not crazy, but youre not sane....
Burns, other than being a RD, is not of any interest to PHI. They don;t lack puck rushing, producing defensemen, they lack a more stay at home, defensive dman at RD.
And Burns at 6mil until his legs fall off, is probably of no interest to PHI. 36 yrs old and 4 more seasons of 6mil sounds risky at best... Weber would be a better fit at same age and a bit more $
As for the other moves, Goodrow would fit well in Philly, but cant see Ghost on Taxi Squad (will there be one next season?) instead of playing still cost 3mil plus. If anything Ghost gets 3LD and Hagg is 7th dman. Cant see Tanner L as 4th line C, not with Foerster and Frost in system.
But its a no on Burns</div></div>
Wouldn't that be something, for Philly to get the last few years of the Weber deal that they signed him to!

The best chance of making this happen is for MIN to drop the 1st and retension on Parise, have it worked out with him that it is a 3 -way trade to a team of his choosing, then NJ does the retension.

Sandin replaces Reilly next season
I would say NJ would counter with somthing like Rielly, Robertson, and 2022 1st.
Rielly being one year from ufa really drops his value to teams like NJ. You would need to send him to a conender who has cap space and a need a LD/PP to get best value.
