Not even close for Noah Dobson.
And the Sharks retained slots are full for this year.

Caps accept. You're insane if you think you'd be able to pry Dobson out of Lous hands

Marner won't waive but this trade is essentially Pulock + 2nd for Marner, Leafs would want more. I'd do this if Marner came extended at a somewhat reasonable cap hit

Do you know who Patrick Roy is? Do you know how he values effort and RHD Dmen who can play good in an lower than average team like the Habs right now?
Saying they don't need a player like Kovacevic who's not at his full potential and already providing something to the bottom Habs is like saying you don't need a puck to play hockey. Isles need RHD's at low cost and good return on investment. Kovacevic could be a good fit for Roy's style.</div></div>
Pulock, Dobson and Mayfield. That looks like 3 deep to me.

I don't think the Isles do that trade (Dobson is as close to untouchable a player as they have), but I think this is probably the first trade proposal I've seen on here for him that made me think twice and not just dismiss it out of hand.

He is probably my number 1 choice due to his connection with Roy. Tampa does seem like a perfect fit

It’s not his fault. Islanders have an awful roster with one of their only good players in Sorokin having a down year.

Norris is far far better than pageau <strong>when he is healthy</strong></div></div>
at this point in time, that is one hell of a caveat for a guy getting paid nearly $48M over the next 6 years.
i honestly wouldn't do this trade if I were running the Islanders. He's missed 106 games over the past two seasons and who even knows if that shoulder holds up after the third major surgery on it. He's too big of a gamble to take based on the term and cap hit you'd be looking at.

reset for roy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tm0000</b></div><div>Palmieri is not a cap dump. At the deadline, Arizona got a 6th for Zucker who is 1) having a bad season (11 goals to Palmieri's 22) and 2) more expensive than Palms. I don't think they'll get much for Palms, but a one year rental on a cheap contract should be easily movable. I'd look at Toffoli as a comp - one year of him at $4.25MM was worth a 3rd and a good young roster player (Sharangovich). Palms is not going to be coming off as good a season as Toffoli was, so he won't return a package that good, but a 3rd or a 4th without the player seems reasonable.
I agree with the Hawks fans who don't want to pay for him though; he doesn't make sense for a rebuilding team. He'd only make sense for a playoff team that was looking for some secondary scoring with no long-term commitment required.</div></div>
I'll take it a step further. Why trade Palmieri at all? He's been fantastic under Roy. Best forward not named Barzal or Horvat. There are guys in the top-9F group who should be moved on from. Palms is not one of them

As long as Lou is in charge he’s mortgaging, he said post deadline the 1st was in play for the right player. Maybe that changes with a pick in the range you gave, but an extended Chychrun works for me.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Wahlstrom isn't worth enough to take Palmieri's contract.</div></div>
That <em>is</em> a terrible trade, but for the opposite reason. Palmieri is a 20-goal scorer on a reasonable contract with no term beyond next season - basically a one-year middle-six rental. The Isles aren't going to get a massive package back for him or anything, but there's no way they'd have to pay to get someone to take him.

Rakell is a cap dump. 30-years old with four more years @ $5MM and having a poor season = you're not getting anything back for him. Aside from that, the Isles don't have the cap space for him even if you gave him away for free.

Adding for playoff race
For $350K more (and probably a lower pick because there's no retention) you could have Anthony Duclair, who I think is a better fit with his speed.
What's the reasoning behind Comrie? Sorokin + Varlamov are locked in at the NHL level and they're using Bridgeport more to develop younger goalies than stash a 3rd. If Varlamov gets hurt, they bring up Appleby for emergencies and ride Sorokin til the wheels fall off; if Sorokin gets hurt, the wheels have already fallen off and it doesn't matter who they call up to be the backup goalie.

This is a huge win for us you don’t say no to paying this for a running mate for dobson this is not a lateral move this opens and extends our chances for years to come.</div></div>
We don't need him, we have Romanov as Dobson's pairing....Don't want any part of him. First he was not happy in Arizona (I get it), now there's rumors he will not resign with Ottawa when contract is up. He's never happy. Don't want that anywhere near our clubhouse.
