That's the right term, because it expires while Zegras is still a RFA.</div></div>
I swear that takes him to 26 y.o. and UFA... Also to offer < 5 mill... just as disrespectful as Verbeek's offer

If they trade TK it’s because we are rebuilding and he doesn’t fit the timeline age and contract wise so why would we then go and immediately re-sign a player of the same age and contract timeline</div></div>
To lock him in for cheap as the cap rises. The problem with Konecny's contract is it expires in 2 years. At that point he'll want a hell of a lot more money and term than Debrewsky would as he sees the cap. If flyers can sign Debrewski to 4-5 years, they'd have him for cheap through 2-3 years of Mitchkov era. Then he expires perfectly when Mitchkov will need his extension

If BUF needs the roster or cap space for some reason and he is looked at as expendable, they will likely be giving him away for free or paying for that roster/cap space. If you can find a team that is interested in him long term and both he and the team are agreeable to extending him right away, you could probably get a little something for him. That won't be CHI, though.</div></div>
Why not CHI though? They have the money and the roster spots.

Pivots and explores other options, frees up ~ 5 mil and gets fair return (maybe Buff adds another pick or 2), and gets a replacement in UPL. Hellebuyck or Samsonov UFA. Also gives Sebastian Cossa a look to end the season - maybe they roll with him and one of Reimer/Lyon/UPL next year depending on how Cossa looks (much cheaper option)

I really think Samuelson is up top with Dahlin and Clifton on the second pairing with Power.</div></div>
And then Joker on the left side on the 3rd pair? Idk.. I agree with you, like, I would want that too. I just feel like that wouldn't be best for Jokers value (if we want to trade him) or development (if we want to keep him)

Loads of salary retained in that deal which also included Acciari... The 1st in the O'reilly deal was also a late 1st, while Ostlund was picked @ 16 and will be closer to NHL ready than a 2024 1st would be - he would also have 3 years at an ELC as it slides while he's in Europe...

It’s been 8 years since he was able to play close to a full season

Keep in mind Olo sat many games last year ON PURPOSE. Because of that, I'm fine with the above swap considering what BUF would want him for and the fact that Quinn is back in Sept. Similar role to Erik Johnson on D as a vet who has won a cup. Can also give adequate load management to Oshie by cycling Jost, Kulich, Oshie, Rousek in and out of the lineup. Serves as a placeholder until Quinn returns and then provides veteran depth/leadership come playoff time. I think Oshie would be PERFECT and would fit the exact mold that KA has done already w/ Craig Anderson and Erik Johnson. I get we already have vet leadership with Okposo... but Oshie HAS WON A CUP on a team that had been underperforming over many years... Similar tune to BUF continually missing the ploffs.
Maybe this move gets done once Quinn returns as they'll likely move on from Olo at that point anyway?
