they have lots of dmen, but not Barrie-caliber dmen. Barrie would help any team... And theyre getting rid of 2 D in the trade, which makes sense cause they have way too many

82-0-0 team
i would agree that this is a very good team (obviously), but if you're trying to build the best team you left out a few players who definitely should have made the team.
how do you forget about NHL All-Star, Art Ross Trophy winner, Hart Memorial Trophy winner, and Ted Lindsay Award winner Connor McDavid? did you forget he existed?
karlsson?
doughty?
hedman?
keith?
kucherov?
eichel?
matthews?
malkin?
marchand?
tarasenko?
laine?
backstrom?
tavares?
etc.
id say only one of your defensemen are in the top 6 in the league (burns)
and idk why zuccarello, larkin, o'reilly, atkinson, staal, and mackinnon are on the team. Mackinnon is my favourite player (can you tell by my bio?) and even i wouldnt have put him on this team. I dont even think gaudreau, carter, and giroux should be on the team but they are pretty good so i cant complain about them as much as the other forwards that are clearly out of place

personally i would rather have josi on my team than ovechkin. josi has one of the most team friendly contracts in the league so you can surround him with better players

Who cares about cap space
even if you had that much cap space this would still be impossible. you would need to give compensation to a bunch of different teams. You cant give your next four 1st rounders to 9 different teams (unless youre a mad scientist that can clone the 1st rounders)
btw i never knew how what the max # of digits cap friendly would let you put in for the cap hit. cool

i agree with everything you said, but you cant really complain about getting an overpaid goalie if youre trading away a player who is even more overpaid

oops i meant to sign him then flip him at the deadline for picks but i forgot. it would be similar to the jagr or vanek deals though and he would go to a strong playoff team

thats a terrible deal for carolina...
i dont even see why carolina would want toews, sure hes a great player but wouldnt they rather have 3 young, talented, up-and-coming forwards plus a 1st rounder? I would.
I dont like the lack of depth scoring carolina would have if this trade happened

kadri just scored 61 points... hes only 26 years old. how is that "minimal upside"? hes worth way more than a 2nd rounder. im not gonna argue this anymore but i would suggest you look at the player stats for kadri & nylander, cause they are both better than horvat. Plus, since horvat is on a worse team his stats are boosted since his team relies more on him for offense (he has more TOI than kadri and nylander), whereas on toronto kadri and nylander get less TOI since they also rely on matthews, JVR, and marner for offense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_Eichel</b></div><div>I love your username. I have a question at this point why would Duchene want to stay in Colorado after what they put him through? If I was him I would have requested a trade by now</div></div>
Thanks :)
i cant think of any reason why he would want to stay. Hes 26 years old and probably doesnt want to stay on a rebuilding team that will be full of players 5 years younger than him. imo i think colorado still needs a few more years of rebuilding to strengthen our D before we can start contending, and duchene surely doesnt want to be on a losing team during his prime.
I have a suspicions that he secretly requested a trade but doesnt want to officially go public to avoid drama. Im pretty sure sakic's hesitation to pull the trigger on a trade has made duchene pretty angry (his agent was pretty mad about it). I hope he gets traded to a playoff-team/cup-contender to give him a shot at winning
i think hes just the wrong age for the avalanche moving forward. its similar to eberle with edmonton since he was one of their best players when they were still a bad team, and now that they became good hes a bit too old for the core edmonton has now with young players like mcdavid and draisaitl leading the team

i am sorry i confused hyman for connor brown, so ill give you that one. but kadri has a cap hit of 4.5 mill and i would give horvat about 5 mill/season. plus Kadri's contract is very team friendly at 4.5 mill for a 60 point scorer. Nylander is proven with just over 100 games NHL exp and approx 75 points. nylander is a solid 2nd line if not 1st line forward. I will agree that horvat is a solid 2nd line forward.

i wouldnt even do nylander kadri and hyman for horvat gudbranson and virtanen, but then you want the leafs to also give up marincin and 2 2nd rounders for free?

VAN-WPG deal -- thoughts from Jets/Canucks fans?
if i was Vancouver I wouldn't take this deal, I think they're going to be a bottom 5 team next year and giving up a (likely) top 5 pick just to swap defensemen wouldn't be a good idea imo

If EDM could redo their #1 picks
i like the idea, and yeah youre right that would arguably be the scariest offense in the league. and also they would have draisaitl (assuming they sign him) to add to those lines. Thats a crazy top 6
