Think wed be better off Putting A physical gritty guy on that last spot over a kubalik
I dont really care who that right 3rd d would be just looking for someone who can be gritty and play tough and sign a 1-2 year deal. Nothing longterm with all the prospects we have coming</div></div>
I would trade Zadina and Fabbri before Kubalik without hesitation. Perron isn’t a long term solution and he’s an older player who may not even want to return. Copp will ideally be the 3rd line centre.

Wings Fan who wants to make a run at EP please read it all
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachCoach</b></div><div>So mortgage the future for EP, sounds counterproductive to what SY has been doing. 24 or not, this would ruin Detroit.
Grewe and Berglund probably cap out as fringe NHL players, so adding them is odd.
To recap:
- Cossa (goalie of the future as of now)
- Kasper (top forward prospect and top 10 pick a year ago who has since improved his stock)
- Edvinsson (best defensive prospect who most likely takes a spot in 2024)
- Two 2023 1sts that look to be 11-20 in a stacked draft and you protected them for 1OA?
- Two 2023 2nds looking to be in the 35-50 range in a stacked draft.
- 2024 1st and 3rd and not protecting the 1st.
In exchange for EP and Garland (can’t forget the 2024 4th lol)
Terrible asset management. There is no one in the system who can replace Kasper (EP would serve as a 1C for years in your mind I assume and you’re probably hoping they re-sign him) or Cossa, and you’ve traded 5 potential chances at replacing them in the pool.</div></div>
What do you think it costs to get a top 10 centre who’s only going to get better and is 24 now? We’re talking about a franchise changing player, not a second line centre to play behind Larkin, which is the safer and more realistic move. This is a price worth paying for the most important position on a hockey team. Now if we were going to trade for a centre who isn’t a superstar of course I wouldn’t move Cossa, Edvinsson, Kasper, or multiple 1sts.
Oh and trading multiple picks for Tanner Jeannot is also terrible asset management but I’m sure Tampa won’t care. We’ve been rebuilding for long enough that we have a lot of depth to our futures. Even if this block buster happened, we still have a first in 2024, Mo, Lucas Raymond, Mazur, Wallinder, Johansson, and Nierbacher.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wingsfannn</b></div><div>You’ll be dissapointed then if dealt zadina and saw the return cause nothing we get will be good for him at this rate. Kubalik played a bunch of games on the 4th line this season and has one more yr left on his deal , he wont fetch a major asset at center or rd. Dont think we’d need to get a c if those 4 above are our centers with rasmussen and copp also able to play there.
We’d just need a 3rd right dman as i think chiarot will be playing on the right side for the foreseeable future</div></div>
A 3rd for Zadina is fine. A 3rd for Kubalik isn’t. He’s had a decent season and we have no reason to trade him when there are better candidates to move out.
For 3 million you could probably sign Connor Clifton. For 4 million you might be able to get Scott Mayfield. I like Schenn, but I like him for half of what you signed him for.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>That Wings trade. At 4.9m X 3, Garland's trade value isn't much at all. Then to expect the Wings to pay all that for Pettersson. Wings would so much better off just signing two UFAs for 12.1m total and keeping all those young assets. C''mon you can't be serious at all with that trade.</div></div>
Why assume I’m not serious? He’s a top 10 centre in the league and he’s 24. I’d gladly pay that price for him because no other centre who’s better than him is going to be remotely realistic to trade for because they’re all on better teams than Vancouver. How many players in this 2023 draft have a realistic chance to be better than Elias Pettersson. Beaded is a given but after him? I’m not sure if Fantili will be better than him and I’m a huge fan of Fantili. After him there’s a ton of good wingers but we all know a top centre is almost always a bigger need than a top line winger.

I said the truth and you seem to really be freaked out that your GM was ringing the phone up to BC to inquire about Miller. Those deals don’t happen in March. They happen in June. Sorry if that upsets you but Hextall is a fool and if I’m a pens fan (like most I’ve seen) I’m rooting for him getting the axe ASAP before he can sink the Pens with an albatross of a contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>I think you have to look at the way the trades with Meier and Chychrun went and realize that teams are highly resistant to trading premium prospects and young roster players, let alone multiple premium prospects and young roster players. Multiple firsts are a given in the return if Pettersson tells Vancouver he does not intend to sign long term in Vancouver, but you're not going to get potentially two thirds of a team with three of those assets being high upside, high NHL probability prospects.</div></div>
Meier isn’t even close to the same player. Chychrun was sold away on the cheap so Gary could calm down the overpayments. We all know he runs Arizona. If Chychrun was on a real team the price likely would have been higher.

Keep telling yourself that. Those deals never happen at the deadline, they’re always pre draft deals.
