Trading Keith FLA VAN
I don´t see that Vancouver needs another center instead of a rugged winger (Horvat - Pettersson - Sutter - Beagle - Gaudette - Schaller and even Miller, Spooner, McEwen and Motte can play C, also they gave a qo to Gaunce and Laplante with only Motte of them being a RFA and could walk away this summer).

Yzerman realistic plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dca919</b></div><div>Tampa’s pick will be #23. Wings picks are NYI #2 could be around 55 and SJS’ pick around 58. Wings 2020 pick around 72. So I can see maybe giving up only the two #2’s, but they are going to be towards the bottom of the 2nd round and not as much value as people think they are worth.
As far as Callahan he has a MTC and I don’t see Detroit as one of 15 teams he would list as no goes. So he might have no say in it. And yes I think Yzerman would move vets like him at the deadline; picking up retained salary for maximum trade value. But it could be and you could be right. Then change vets and possibly teams for that same guy with too much cap hit and a 1 year term and adjust accordingly.
I think Yzerman knows he needs a superstar in the draft and is willing to play the kids on defense to tank to get one because it gets rid of another year’s term of bad contracts on the team.
Thanks for your thoughts.</div></div>
I agree with that thought and like the TBL-trade.

Maybe the best and most realistic TBL scenario I´ve seen so far here, good thoughts.
In my opinion you can get a better reward from NJ for only dumping one year of Callahans hefty contract (higher pick, AHL-proven prospect).
The price for Spurgeon seems a little to high.
I also won´t sign Brassard and let Paquette walk away even more with Cirelli being a good fit at C3.

Weaponizing cap space for picks
Good thoughts, all of the trades don´t look out of place.
Trade with Ottawa: I would keep Hutton - maybe you can insert a higher pick instead of his RFA-rights.
Trade with Minnesota: seems like they want to get rid of Zucker, so it looks in reach to get him - but also remember that he has a M-NTC and VAN could be on his list. With the emergence of Markström and the (already shown) talent of Demko, giving away DiPietro for the value of a 1st and Zucker makes sense - but I still don´t see MIN moving their 1st.
Trade with Vegas: maybe even Schaller is too expensive for the VGK - insert Gränlund in this trade instead of the one simulated with TBL and this could be a match.
Trade with Tampa: I think TBL has more need to get a cheap Dman instead of another offensive player (they still got still an incredible pipeline of players who haven´t played in the NHL yet like Barré-Boulet, Raddysh, Katchouk, Volkov, Huntington, Fortier) - so I would insert Biega, Sautner or the rights of Hutton (in worst case) instead.
I also think that giving away Miller for just one year of Callahans contract left would need to be sweetened by a mid-pick in 20 or 21.
Either way, I don´t see Schenn needs to be resigned and why you not resigned with Motte and Pouliot (heard he won´t get a chance in VAN any longer, so that´s why?!).
If Eriksson and Green can´t get along he needs to be traded to a rebuilding / cap-needing team for a prospect or a mid-pick (getting rid of his contract will be a nice give-away) - but for now he has a full NTC in my opinion?!
Boeser could get 8-8.5 if he picks 8 years.
And in case - sorry for my English, my German is much better ;)

Patrick had the best chemistry when lined up with Lindblom, so I won´t separate them?!

Interesting move for Kapanen, may be an option.
In my opinion, you don´t need to fix up Duchene with Frost and a still developing Patrick in the system.
I also would choose Elliott over Talbot, but that´s a minor thing.
Good thoughts.

I have to agree on the Howden trade, that was stupid so I reverted that one, thanks for the input.
But we shouldn't overrate Kakko, as good as he is, he's going to be extremely young in this first year and take some time to adapt if you ask me.</div></div>
Okay, I see your point with Kakko, but if he isn´t likely to stick with the top-6 and 1st PP-unit, then he should play for TPS in 19-20.

I don´t see this coming in a rebuilding team.
Why would you sign Panarin, Girardi and Zuccarello instead of going through a disciplined rebuild with all the talent slumbering?
Why should you trade for McNabb and burning a prospect like Howden?
Why is Pionk not resigned?!
Also, Kakko shouldn´t stick in the bottom-6.
Only my personal opinion, but I never see this coming anyways.

Why do you think the deal on Little is necessary? Dubé will take over even the second line in 1-2 years and Jankowski looked good enough at 3rd/4th all year long.
Minnesota will never ever agree to that deal!
Deal on Kapanen seems to be fair, but Toronto may ask for a right-shot Dman - so the might ask for Andersson instead (proven young player for proven young player).

Brayden Point OS
In my opinion:
- Toronto won´t give up a 1st-rounder and Kapanen for Gostisbehere
- the offer sheet seems to be okay, but I don´t think Tampa will let go Point anyway - a crowded offense-pipeline like the one of Philadelphia doesn´t need him (Frost even might be NHL-ready in 19-20)
- the deal for Spurgeon is unnecessary and overpayed
- Konecny has earned - and will receive - way more than 2.85 mio per year
- Kapanen and even Hartman will receive more than they get on your roster

Trading up isn´t an option, I think he will fall to 6th overall because of the other teams needs and especially don´t see the Blackhawks adressing a dman - with the crowded quality of forwards - at 3rd overall.
Colorado will go for a versatile forward (like Cozens) and LA for a "sniper" (like Kaliyev, Turcotte or even Caufield).
It´s hard for a German to stay with the beat of all Northamerican Leagues all year long (I´m proud just missing 2 playoff-games this year of my favorite team, the Bruins), but I recently made a short Mock Draft 2019 (for myself) with short explanations, and there Dach goes 3rd and Byram goes 6th overall - maybe it´s as simple as that. :D

I mean CAR, STL, BOS, SJ...all have great defenses and with SJ being the 1 exception on the list...none of those teams broke the bank for their defenses either.</div></div>
I also think that it´s more likely that Cozens will go 3rd overall, but Dach may be the best choice at pure center with the best two-way abilities.
I´m also with you with Byram being the 3rd best player available, but I don´t see he´ll go anywhere else than Detroit.
