Canucks need to rebuild with prospects. This trade likely takes them from a top 5 pick in the draft to the 10-15 range AND loses them two draft picks in one of the deepest drafts of the modern era. All FA wants is that first-round playoff cash.

That's kind of the whole point of me making this. There's no way they can be any good next season with so much money tied up already.

Multiple reports that Minny has been calling on Boeser, I'm just following the smoke hoping there's fire. Y'all are losing 7.75m in Dumba and Reaves next season and Greenway is a dump at 3m making Boeser more affordable plus report is Canucks are willing to retain if the price is right.

If Schenn came back the other way would that package be enough to part with one of Severson or Marino? Schenn is a tried and true 3rd pair D with experience.
Edit: Horvat has never played wing so that would be an adjustment for him

Massive overpay for Boeser/Schenn. Canucks easily take that and run, but Boeser is only going for a 2nd plus sweetener depending on how many teams are bidding for him. Personally, since it looks like the Canucks are trading Horvat, I want them to keep Schenn and make him captain

If he's so good why hasn't he been traded yet? Yotes wanted 4 first rd assets and got nowhere. Lowered it to three and still no takers. Horvat, Lekkerimaki, and Hoglander are well worth it imo

-He can play RD
-He's not worth much more than this
-if by not staying the course you mean not what current management would do, I agree

No, they can all stay. it's the owner that's the problem. He refuses to accept anything other than a 1st rd exit. Gotta get that playoff $$

Technically Yakupov is a 1st rd asset.. Maybe Canucks should sign him? Just because a player was drafted high doesn't mean he retains that pedigree if he hasn't shown any of that potential in the NHL

It's a good point. Every 2023 free agent is watching Kadri have to turn back tail between his legs and ask for less cause he and his agent completely misread the market and his own value. Also, with a 27yo 40 goal scorer on the team making 8.5 I highly doubt NSH would offer more than 8.

Don't listen to anyone else. That is a PHENOMINAL trade for Miller. Everyone else is delusional. Canucks lose a 10m cap dump in OEL/Poolman for free, so essentially the Canucks are getting a 24yo top line blueliner and Huges's defensive partner for the next 10 years, an A+ wing prospect in Lysell, AND a 28yo puck moving defenseman who might be ever so slightly overpaid, but not enough to hamper his value too much. --- All for Miller.
That's the trade of the century and tbh Sweeny probably gets fired right after.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joxu</b></div><div>I could see that working, would Vancouver be willing to take on Hornqvist's contract in return for the lottery protection?</div></div>
At the moment, no, not enough cap space. Canucks management seems to think Myers is actually worth a 2nd so they're (obviously) having trouble clearing cap. If they somehow do that then I don't see why they couldn't take on hornqvist, or at least majority of the contract

Thread:
Possible Weegar trades
Would FLA do the VAN trade if the 23 pick was lottery protected? If Canucks miss the playoffs it becomes 2024 1st, but then maybe that means an extra late pick gets thrown in
ie.
Weegar for Hoglander, Conditional 2023 1st*, Conditional 2023 4th**.
*If Canucks miss the 2023 playoffs the 2023 1st becomes a 2024 1st.
** Pick is only transferred if Canucks miss the 2023 playoffs.
So basically the trade is either Hoglander and a 2023 1st (Pick 16-32) OR Hoglander, 2024 1st (any pick), and 2023 4th (NYR).

He’s talked about finding another top six guy all offseason but he’s stayed quiet so far in free agency.</div></div>
Would it be absurd to add in Schenn? I know we all love him but if Miller/Schenn gets a return of Fabbro/Trenin/Pick I'd in into it
