I still say they would not do the trade. much as I love OEL.

but for posterity...

I'd rather trade Goldobin than Meier. Meier is the power forward we have been wanting for awhile. Goldobin is skilled no doubt. Probably more skilled. Meier would mesh with the Joe's line far better. He is a drive the net kinda guy, while Goldobin is more of a playmaker. I want the sandpaper in our top 6.

Why are we trading Smith? Smith was one of our best faceoff guys and Pkers in the final stretch of the season. That's the kind of 4th liner you want.

Goodrow was decent as a 4th liner, but you have pretty much seen his ceiling. Does not kill penalties, does not do faceoffs and does not finish.

Meier/Thornton/Pavelski
Marleau/Couture/Ward
Hertl/Tierney/Wingels
Karlsson/Smith/Nieto
Torres

That 3rd line was great towards the end of last season. Let it keep going.
The 4th line with Karlsson + Nieto immediately gets better at possession and can rack up points better than most 4th lines, and Smith is a faceoff wiz and decent defensively.

Quite frankly, if you get Larsson, there is no need to grab Zidlicky. OEL immediately becomes our best two way Dman, and can share PP duties with Burns. And OEL can absolutely EAT icetime in all situations. So can Vlasic to be honest. Zidlicky has a good shot, but is small, old and gets pushed around easily. The reason I wanted him was to have another offensive DMAN and a guy for the 2nd PP unit. With OEL and Burns, that is no longer necessary.

Vlasic, Braun, Martin and OEL on the PK. Burns and OEL on the PP.

At ES, roll the lines fairly even. Martin can easily cover for Tennyson

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zbaddest</b></div><div><i>Why is that Yakupov trade untealistic? Cowen might not have proven himself to be how good he's supposed to be, but Yakupov has not proven to be the great player he is either. It's an unproven player for another unproven player. Plus, Ottawa would be adding a second round pick to Edmonton too. The only reason Derek Roy came in is because Smith got traded and he would be an upgade over Zack Smith. And about Chabot, to be honest with you, I'd rather have him play right now than to see some of the other defenseman play and mess up like last year. That Nyquist goal against Ottawa shows the terrible defense Ottawa had, so maybe adding Chabot can fix the defensive situation up a little. He can be a good 7th defenseman. And if Chabot isn't ready for the line-up, then he isn't, but we don't know for sure because after this summer he might be ready. So, if it doesn't work for you, that's good for you, but it works fine for me.</i></div></div>
The Oilers just got a new coach upgrade, GM upgrade, and have been firing scouts and training staff left, right and center. They are going to give the kids time to adjust to the new coaches and see if they can blossom. You don't trade a 1st overall pick who was being ruined by coaching and stupidity go for pennies. Cowan is the definition of a draft bust. The jury is still out on Yakupov.

Yak will still be treated as a 1st overall pick until a full season of coaching from the new staff. So he ain't going for a draft bust and mid 2nd rounder.

Either you are trolling, or are delusional.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GlebMinsk</b></div><div><i><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>J0e_Th0rnton</b></div><div><i>No prob. Stafford had a bounceback with the jets no doubt. But Frolik is an all purpose forward. Plays the PK, PP and 5 on 5 and is very good defensively, playing on that jets shutdown line.

I see him as a great RW for Marleau/Couture as they tend to get the shutdown assignments and he is 2 years younger. For the record, Marleau is not waiving. you could tell who was eager to see Tmac go from who showed up supporting the new coach at the presser. Marleau/Wingels/Stalock. Stalock was in a bind. He could get a shutout and still get benched the next game. Happened twice last season. Marleau was less motivated than ever. Not sure about Wingels.

Hertl/Tierney/ Wingels or Nieto was so effective in the last 15 games of the season that I would love to see more of it. You may want to recall Tierney lol. Tierney was scoring at a PPG clip in the final 12 games and him and Hertl found genuine chemistry. He is a lock to make the team.

but Oduya is 33 years old, and merely average and certainly not an offensive force. We have enough defense first Dmen. In fact, all of them but Burns are not a threat. We need to balance the threat of a point shot on our blueline across pairings. As it is, teams can cheat to cover our forwards due to lack of a threat from the point when Burns is on the bench. Irwin is not the answer either. All he has in an NHL caliber shot. His skating and gap control are awful.

if Spurgeon is being shopped, Sharks should look into it. But also look into Sekera and Green. Green just put up 45 points from the 3rd pairing with reduced PP time. Say what you ill about him, but Burns has been just as unhealthy over the years.

Vlasic/Burns
Dillon/Braun
Mueller/???????

Edit: I just realized. you forgot to resign RFA Dillon. 4x the player Irwin is, so you may want to edit this lol.

Just stay away from Franson lol. The guy wants the moon and sucks.

As for forward depth. We have some promising prospects in the system. We just signed Donskoi, who was playing great in his league and was a PPG player at the WC. look him up on youtube. Kid has moves, top 6 potential and could make the team right out of camp, barring severe problems getting used to north american rinks.

Goldobin is a guy I think needs another year in the AHL, despite many hoping he makes the team. He is a top 6 or bust, as he lacks in aspects of the game other than offense and looks like a stickfigure being pushed around by AHL men. Guys like Chartier and Lebanc will challenge for a spot too.

For once we have great forward depth in our system, despite lack of bluechips.</i></div></div>
So many thoughts, that's good)Marleau will remain in the team, I do not think that he would remove NTC,but I strongly doubt that he will return to his level, unfortunately age influences on his game.
Agree about Alex, he did not get a lot of chances.I believe that Wingels will be okay, especially if be able to play more stable.it is important to be able to add how youth players, Hertl has been difficult season of course.I really like Berns, but I prefer the he as a striker, too many mistakes in the defense now,but at the World Cup, he was really good in defense.
Donskoi was really good at the World Cup, and in the playoffs of his league is really important.I am confident in Goldobin all will be well he has a great hands, hockey IQ and skating, I think it will be useful to a year in the AHL, to add to power of.
What do you think whom should choose sharks in the draft?</i></div></div>

Depends. We need defense more than Forwards. Provorov or Werenski are my top 2. If neither of them are available(A distinct possibility since Provorov's stock has risen and Columbus needs a Dman too), then I say we trade the 9th pick back to 12th or 13th and get another 2nd rounder.

Why You ask? Because the players likely left, Barzal, Zacha, Rentenan, Meier, Connor, Crouse, are all very equal to me on the boards. I would be happy with ANY of those guys. Getting another 2nd rounder would possibly allow us to nab one of the top goalie Prospects. Blackwood, Samsonov or Vladar. Our goalie pool is near empty.

If you want Bouwmeester or any other defender, go ahead. I wouldn't say that Elliott is a castoff. In all likelihood he returns to the blues this year and plays 30-40 games and continues to excel as he has the past few seasons. But I believe Allen is the future</i></div></div>

And still no way you get Pavelski without one of those two. His value is the type that requires and impact player in return, not multiple lesser players</i></div></div>

I can see where you are going. Do you think the Sharks would accept Backes, Oshie and Elliott for Pavelski? I recognize that he is an impact player and I believe pairing him with Schwartz/Steen and Tarasenko could be amazing. Both teams need to change their core players up somehow to advance further into the playoffs.</i></div></div>
No.
Let's call it a moot point. Wilson called Pavelski untouchable and by all expectations, he could be the next captain. He also has a no trade clause.

The Sharks do not need Oshie and Backes. They need a solid offensive defenseman, preferably the two way offensive dman, and a goalie.

We actually have 15 forwards and adding 2 for 1 and our superstar winger is not helping us.

I appreciate what you are trying to do. I just don't see us as trading partners. I would not mind Oshie, but i'd rather pay a Frolik or Stafford in UFA than give up assets. We have 19 million in cap space.

This is at least not a crazy trade like that Sens guy trying to trade all the players he does not want and Anderson for Couture
