I agree that Barrie stays but pretty realistic. Only problem I see is that they are well below the cap floor. Need to take on bad contracts and get additional assets too (like the Boston deal keep your second rounder and take on Beleskey)

Ya, I don't care who it is, there is no way that would be the deal. Yes McDavid will get his trophies, but you could be definitely giving up a Rocket Richard and Norris winner on our end. I love McDavid too, but I can't fathom anyone mortgaging their future like that

I was looking at it like Neal walks at the end of the yr, at least they get something. Bouwmeester has term and is the better player..gotta make room for the kids though and we are shallow on the right side

Pretty simple answers really: ARI takes JBo to mentor young up and coming team and replaces Stone on the back end. St.Louis gets faster and younger and can replace JBo with a much more cost efficient option that does the same thing as he did.

I'll take the Parayko suggestion and agree at 6.1 for 8yrs. Agostino may walk and that's ok. IMO we need to rid ourselves of Lehtera, who's been awful all year AND Perron (while he still has value). Perron had a good year, don't get me wrong, but he's a regular season player, way too soft in the playoffs, and we have lots of forwards to take his place, with Fabbri coming back, Paajarvi earning a spot and more ice time for Sanford.

2 first round picks and Spooner who has put up 50 points a year ago? Add in Vatrano who has 20-25 goal potential and Zboril? Not enough?</div></div>
That's exactly what I thought too, that's a huge haul for Hanifin. Carolina would be fools not to take that

The players may be ok but the contracts aren't. Alzner and Oshie, in particular, won't sign for anywhere close to that

I love the Alzner signing, but I think he may ask for 5plus. Not crazy about Polak as McIlrath is basically the same guy, but cheaper and younger. Zibanejad is a good looking player, but I think he fits as a second liner at best, so giving up all that doesn't seem prudent to me...but that's just me. I like the trading of Bouwmeester, but I feel a trade deadline deal might bring in a kings ransom as he has term left on his contract, so I'd wait and see on that one. Someone always overpays.

I don't think you'd need to add the pick for Vegas to choose Scandella. Any one of the WIld's unprotected d-men will be taken as they would be the best of the bunch. As for Pominville I'd think NYI might be a better fit.

I love the Hamonic trade, think it's great for both teams. Hickey should stay put as the Isles will need capable d-men. The Jets trade seems too much and doesn't identify Winnipeg's need for a first string goalie IMO.

Address center
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BluesBandit</b></div><div>I feel like you're overpaying for Hanzal and I'm not sure if he's a big enough upgrade over Barbashev or Berglund to be a top 6 center. Also don't know why you're moving Perron, guys been great this year. Still a good roster but I also think a second rounder is a big price to get rid of Lehtera.</div></div>
I don't dislike Perron, but we are going to have a glut of forwards and I think they will give Agostino a shot, so Perron is definitely expendable. For a bigger guy he's very weak on the puck, which is fine for regular season but not so much in the playoffs. I chose Hanzal because he is a huge body, puts up good points, and is a beast in the faceoff circle. Hanzal is definitely an upgrade over Bergy as a number 2 guy, plus it makes the 3rd line that much better. I had to pay him that much because of his FA situation, plus if Stastny walks after this year we have 7 plus million to go find a #1 guy. The Lehtera deal is tough but that's a huge salary for a benched player under contract for 2 more years, and there may be up to 2 takers (ARZ and LV). Parayko is fine, I understand AK's concerns and would prob bump him over 5million for longer term (still have adequate money in the budget). Gunnarsson was a victim of numbers but I think the Leafs will take a flier on him as Polak could be done for a long time into next yr (if they chose to re-sign him). I'd hope the Blues would look to trade Bouwmeester this upcoming season and get value for him. I think the prob we ran into with the Shatty deal is that he had no term left. Detroit had offered Nyquist plus pick and prospect near the start of the year, so it doesn't always pay to wait. 20/20 hindsight of course.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AK_tune</b></div><div>I agree, Upshall deserves another year. Even with all the depth at LW, he's a staple on the 4th line.
I think you're about $1M short on Parayko's deal. (I hope they lock him in at $5.75M x 8.)
With McD and Drai signings coming up, I doubt EDM is the right buyer for JBo. I was thinking maybe DET? They could possibly use a new workhorse veteran D, but his price tag isn't gonna draw much attention.</div></div>
I think they can get Parayko in for just over 5 (5.25 x 6). I also agree that Bouwmeester probably doesn't fit in EDM, but TOR is a definite fit. I like Upshall but I think it's time to promote from within and save that cash. We might be able to get a B prospect or mid range draft pick for him at the TDL this yr.

yikes, have McDavid, Strome, Benning and Nurse to sign the following year. Shattenkirk has been pretty clear that he won't sign in the West. I'd be furious if he did since he turned down the offer last summer for Taylor Hall.

I have a feeling Shattenkirk is going to hold out for 7.5...and some dumbass will pay. I like Armstrong but this is on him giving way too much say to a player who doesn't have a NTC. Anyways, the 2 new deals are just ok..Reinhart is an AHLer and gotta hold out for Juulsen or Schebak in the Mtl trade. And don't get me started on the Berglund extension.

Hmm really? This is my thought process. Plekanec is more expensive but less term. Lehtera is more term but less expensive. Lehtera is younger and thus probably better for longer but Plekanec is technically "better" right now in terms of capability overall. The way I see it, this is pretty fair if both teams are looking to take a chance on a new player that might turn it around with their new club, No?</div></div>
Ferrari Marc, I agree with you yet again haha. Similar players, Plekanec costs more with less term. It's a good deal provided that STL can still afford Parayko (need to rely on the call-ups on ELCs). Plekanec would be off the books when it's time to re-sign Fabbri. I don't see how STL could refuse a Lehtera trade; and I think this is about the only kind of offer they'd receive.</div></div>
so you buy out Lehtera without taking on a 6 million guy.

why? why sign him now? trade him, get something, then sign him in the offseason. Just short-sighted, and honestly he isn't owed a raise for the 3 previous crappy years he's given us. Really like the Shatty deal though.

Love the concept of the trade. but Dallas would never give up Seguin or Benn, especially when Bishop, Fleury, Halak, Miller etc could be had for much less. I think you may be shocked at what Severson's ticket price is going to be too (I hear 5 mil), but not like NJ doesn't have the cap room.

That Montreal trade makes absolutely no sense for either side. St Louis gets an overpaid second/third line center in Plekanec, which we already have in Stastny, and for another year at 6 million. MTL, in a cup hunt, drastically reduces their skill in Lehtera, for another 3 years? And we could definitely get more for Shatty.
