I'm excited but nervous for this year plays out. Honestly. If we're a bubble team, i hope we blow it up, and that 1st rounder is top 10 protected haha. Otherwise tough years to come with our lack of drafting abilities

i'm admittedly not too familiar with the DET farm system but i know some young talent coming up. Wasn't sure if he was taking a roster spot from them.
I'm sure since he was a high draft pick and you guys still rebuilding you are right that he'll play out his contract since it's cheap, or if he does have a good season try and deadline flip him or something

Fair enough. Like i said, just saw this, and wasn't sure if it was actually something even considered in the Detroit world or what it would cost

We've got all the 2nd pairing and middle 6 players we need for the next half decade. I get those are the best prospects you have in your system but we're also 0-2 on top prospects from Boston turning into anything with us, and have equal or better talent in our prospect pool already.</div></div>
now now. You took Vaakenainen (however the hell it's spelled) no take-backs haha.
Yeah i kinda figured short of Pasta/McAvoy it'd be a non-starter, was just curious. I know god forbid for some people i even pose a question like this for fun....on a website designed for it...

yes just the 23rd pick, and that's why i'm asking if there's even anything outside of Pasta/McAvoy that would even have you guys interested?
Obviously just for fun as i know it would never happen

Question for Pens and Bruins fans
although i wish differently, i think what a lot of people fail to see for the B's cap situation, is there's still positive value to be moved first.
If we can't trade a possible Vezina goalie to the loser of the Helly sweepstakes i'd be surprised, but i'm sure some cap coming back from any team in the league.
after trading Forbort and Reilly. Even adding our limited draft capital, if need be for Reilly. I think Forbort still can be had for even a 7th. Easy pill to swallow for any team who needs PK help.
Then, we have Swayman, Frederick, and Debrusk all with value.
If someone wants to offer sheet Sway and not be outbid, it'll be in the 4.3-4.5 range, anything in the 3s we pobably match. That's a 1st and 3rd compensation there. and we still keep a 1a goalie, with 3-4 strong prospects still in the pipeline, and much cheaper veteran backups avail on the market.
Freddy in the low-mid 2s/per = 1 2nd rd if we can't match
Then, we have Debrusk, who after Bergy and Krej retire, may not want an extension, so great value there for a 26-yr old on a good contract.
There's plenty of easy cap to move there, and if it comes at the expense of getting no return for a top-4 d-man and a middle-6 wing, we'll keep them, and trade Gryz at the deadline to a contender for a much larger haul, and if we can, move Hall at next years draft/deadline if some of the kids are ready.
I strongly believe as much trouble as we're in, we don't need to give away everything, to make it work.
Sweeney and BOS scouts are atrocious at the draft, but have more often than not, been great trade negotiators. If the deal doesn't start with at least a 3rd for Gryz, i think it's a non-starter.
Maybe a 3rd and Ty Smith? Durzi just got a 2nd (i know cheaper and younger)
Hall, with less value i'd still hope for like a 3rd,
so how about a combo for both of say, 2024 2nd (W/good season something like 58-64), Ty Smith (young but expendable w/ Gryz coming in), and a top-9 prospect like Hallander, or Broz? (i think i saw that's what they're fair projection is, not too familiar with your farm system) If they're too high, let me know someone not named Poulin or POJ, that you'd consider. or. replace the 2nd w a first and since eliminating the 9.6 in cap, we can discuss Granlund coming back
Halls term matches what you're what you're going for in terms of length of time for Crosby/Malkin/Letang, and there's no saying that Gryz wouldn't extend there even if just 1-year
sorry for having to read this rant, but i do think these 2 could be strong trade partner candidates this off-season

Pasta got what he asked for when signed an 8 x 11.25 lol
Bs weren't willing to pay him before why now. Unless STL retains like 40%, and PHL retains another 20%, and Forbort, Reilly, and Gryz all need to go before that
B's can't make it work cap wise, or value wise and honestly shouldn't want to make it work at this point

i know Dubas said no to a 2023 1st, but where do you think the starting point is? I see a lot of people valuing #13 + a prospect for just Ullmark (just on PIT ACGM) i'm genuinely curious what you guys think the cost is for a low #4 - #5 d-man, and a starting goalie (even if doesn't replicate last year, still a hell of a goalie) he even thrived in the black hole that is Buffalo

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>princessTom</b></div><div>I doubt PIT accepts that

I know, i'm still trying to figure out what the actual value will be for these two, but still both valuable assets and benefits both teams.
Like i said just selected older veterans at small deals, don't care who it is, just what type of player/contract i think we roll with

Realistic with Bergy
i think Lauko needs to be up with Coyle, shelter him a bit in his development and proved he plays alongside him well. that'd put Hathaway in a more comfortable 4th line role, and him and Greer would just be pure violence line. As it's laid out with Lauko/Nosek/Greer i think that line gets eaten up.
I completely agree on Zboril, but i think he needs a real chance this year with someone like OEL. I think he's coming in cheap to a place he wants to be a on prove it/revenge deal, plus has his buyout salary coming in too.
I know need to sell low on him, but i'd like a pick/prospect on PIT return for Hall. Maybe a 2nd and like Legare or Broz. I think the consensus i've seen from PIT fans is giving up on POJ

wrong wording, meant to say "IF" Graves and Bahl are gone. But i think Bahl can play right side too? so maybe role Bahl/Forbort as a shutdown 3rd pair and a pain to play against with that much size
Wasn't sure if they were set on signing him, or trying to trade him etc

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LPProductions</b></div><div>thats a pretty awful return for Ullmark</div></div>
i know but i think day 1 Swayman gets a QO that we'll probably need to match, unless someone goes stupid high. We obviously should match anything under 4.2, but then Ullmark stock i think drops, especially with HEllybuck now requesting a trade too, so i valued it a little low to at least get something back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJDevils1317</b></div><div>Devils pass. No real use for Forbert. I high price for a team desperate to move $. If you can get it elsewhere then go for it.</div></div>
I figured Bahl and Graves were gone so at least bring back someone serviceable, and almost every ACGM i see from the Devils wants Hall back (i know doesn't mean anything in the real world) but i think still pretty fair value to get him just for facilitating a sign/trade, I can remove him and send him elsewhere for a 5/6th like most are saying if really no interest in him though

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBigFlyera</b></div><div>I think one of the picks would need to be a 2nd or 3rd to get Hayes with the rest of that deal</div></div>
I saw a few with just Gasseau and a 3rd, so that was my thinking, but definitely see that as fair
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skull_King</b></div><div>If bergeron comes back, do we really need Hayes? We have Zacha</div></div>
I would agree, but we have no long term replacement at C (not that Hayes is necessarily the answer, and next year, if there's any value left with him (maybe he turns it around a bit coming home) we'll be in a slightly better cap situation to maybe flip at the deadline with less term on his deal to a contender and maybe even retain 1 mil or so for a higher pick was also a thought. I think we have to remember too, we're in a bad spot, and the GM's around the league will definitely take advantage of the situation if they can

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I'm pretty sure that my Anaheim brethren and I had settled on our 2023 fifth for Derek Forbort.</div></div>
I'd take that. I know we don't have the space to keep him but i really don't think he's just a cap dump
