Caps take 1
The Leafs could probably match that if they wanted to, and a whole lot of other teams across the league could offer him a whole lot more the way he's playing right now. my guess is he goes out west

he is still an 80+ point player, I'd imagine anyone in that range is worth 2 or more firsts from any team

I just looked it up, and you're right, my bad LOL. all these years I thought an NMC was less restrictive than an NTC but apparently its the opposite 💀

Arizona shouldn't be giving firsts away for one year of Kane. Oh, and Kane doesn't waive either.</div></div>
that's what the price would be though for a player like Patrick Kane, he's got another 80+ point season under his belt right now and giving him up truly kicks off Chicagos rebuild. and he has a NMC not a NTC, its less restrictive and allows them to trade him wherever without consultation, he just can't be sent down to the minors or anything he stays on an NHL roster

also clears cap, kicks off the true rebuild with Toews and Kane also likely being on the block. Kerfoot is a smart player and leader, Chicagos younger players could benefit incredibly well from him

Flames next year Johnny walks
I don't see Calgary easily letting Johnny Gaudreau walk away, or Johnny wanting to walk away if Calgary makes a deep run this year, my best guess is they try to get Lucic to wave his NTC to make the room, and then at minimum match Tkachuks deal

Matthew Knies
I get it if he wants to try developing more and running it back in Minnesota, but also looking at this already incredible Leafs offence, the chance to play on the top lines with Matthews and Marner, or Tavares and Kerfoot, his addition could make a huge impact in trying to get out of the first round and then run for the cup. its a very tough decision for someone so young, 100% respect whatever he decides when he decides it.
also can't help but think that if Sandin is healthy he becomes 7thD and rotates with Giordano on the 3rd pair, he's been rock solid this year and definitely deserves the spot in the lineup

if Muzzin can even get slightly back to his old self, great, I'll be happy for the guy truly. so far tho, he's looking cooked. and with that high of a cap hit, it can really screw the Leafs. hopefully at least Holl is out the door this summer, probably for some draft picks this year so the Leafs aren't completely out of it lol

All it takes is a small bad stretch and off to the scrap heap. Muzzin is going to be fine. I think his days with Holl are over but he's going to do well with Brodie I bet. And Gio will do well with Holl. Holl may lose his spot to Liljegren but only if Liljegren continues to play really well. I am not sure I want Liljegren on the PK over Holl.</div></div>
well Holl already can't box out the front of the net anyways and he's invisible offensively, Liljegren is still developing but he's more capable of those things than Holl has shown to be earlier this season and now.

Rielly Liljegren
Muzzin Brodie
Sandin Lyubushkin</div></div>
I like them together too, but also if Muzzin can't even figure things out with Brodie, I think that's Gio's spot still. I have a bad feeling Muzz and Holl could cost them some games in the playoffs, they'd have to be out the door soon as trading can start again

Rielly and Lyubushkin have been pretty good together so if Sandin is back before the playoffs I'd like to see Keefe be bold and pair him with Brodie for a game or two

true, could be higher draft picks obviously, with a tight cap it just simply needs to be money going out, and I don't see many teams giving up decent prospects these days for a guy with a high cap hit and a bad history of concussions. the leafs have tonnes of great prospects as is anyways too, they'd just want picks to get more of their own, scouting has done well in the Dubas era I'll give em that always

upgraded defence at TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>In the first intermission they were saying the leafs are 5th at the start of the game in the league. Problem is panthers and bolts are above them and the bruins are right on their butt. All three teams just made major upgrades and l don't think the leafs can get out of the division with this team no matter who they add. lmo they should trade Nylander and Kerfoot in the off season for draft picks. Then sign some playoff type UFA'S and let Engvall, Kase, Spezza walk. Trade Simmonds for whatever and revamp the forward core. The leafs right now have the softest role players in the league by a mile.</div></div>
the league standings like that are so close that the leafs could fall to like 9th or 10th in an instant so I don't care about that, the Leafs absolutely can get past the 1st round IF they make the necessary sacrifices on D. aaahhh yes ofcourse, the "trade Nylander" argument, coming from a Marner fan no doubt LMAO. what part of Willy's performance and PLAYOFF performance has shown that he should be the very first player shipped out in the off-season??? every playoff its Matthews and Marner who haven't shown up (JT gets a pass for last year for obvious reasons). Nylander lives up to his contract and shows up where he needs to, the $11M players have yet to prove that they're playoff performers, pending how this years round one goes, Marner is likely the first to go, and not for just draft picks, it'd likely be a three way trade with two really garbage teams that have 2 developed prospects up to Mitch's regular season calibre, all the first round picks they can get and enough cap space to take Mitch on without any retention. Kerfoot has also been proven to step up, he lives up to his contract and maybe more so considering he fills in the 2nd line LW with JT on a regular. if the Leafs would've gotten rid of him it was gonna be last summer to Seattle instead of McCann. Kase is a great penalty killer, someone they need, I say they get an extension done this summer especially since he's restricted. Engvall I can see getting traded sure, Mikheyev is the better guy with Kampf and Kase and there's Robertson and others in the system that can fill that 4th line slot. Spezza probably has another year left in the tank but if Dubas and Keefe think Seney or Steves could fill the 4th line C better then he retires. Simmonds has a lot left in his tank too being younger than Spez, and he brings good energy and physicality to this group unlike anything I've seen from a leaf forward in a while, he's definitely a keeper. Bunting Matthews and Mikheyev I've noticed are pretty tough, Matthews especially this year, and that's good, but they still need to be careful cuz of the absolute joke that is NHLDPS, I don't blame them for being restrictive on that when a guy like Parros is in charge of that place

1. even without these moves there's no room in the cap for him when you factor in Rielly's extension, and all of Campbell's, Sandin's, Liljegren's and Kase's eventual extensions, with those being a bigger need and Duszak popping off vying for a shot in the NHL right now, factoring in all of Muzzin's injuries too, his cap is not worth it nor smart for the Leafs to hang on to, at least not entirely (retention in a trade) and 2. they literally have like no ok goalie in their system, they need the depth down there, wouldn't count them out on a possible destination for a slightly retained Mrazek and them sending down Hutch to Tucson to help out the younger guys in their net
