My prediction for the opening night lineup roster and taxi squad
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>He had one good stretch with Matthews where opposing players gave him too much room and he got several breakaways. Teams adjusted and he was a ghost for the rest of the season.</div></div>
Yeah but if your tight on him and Crosby’s out you’re probably gonna get burned by Crosby, or Guentzel. I’m just saying he fits playing with them very well at his best. At his worst it was a waste of a first round pick...

Seattle should be compensated for taking JVR, T.Johnson, and even Oshie. Those contracts are bad.

My prediction for the opening night lineup roster and taxi squad
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>He'll do what he always does, fly down the wing and shoot from the half boards and then lose possession and then fail to backcheck. He never crashes the net either so he won't work with Crosby. He's billed as something he just isn't. He's like AA, super fast, terrible defensively and lazy</div></div>
I agree he’s kinda like Kessel, younger and more unproven for sure, horrible with possession and defensive. Hell of a wrister if he can get it off. Doesn’t play physical, but if people are drawn to Crosby will give him more room to shoot, when he was at his best with toronto was because he was on a better line with faster players getting more of the defensive coverage. He’s still young and if it doesn’t work out has a skill set where he’d be easy to move still.

My prediction for the opening night lineup roster and taxi squad
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Well this is a sign of things to come. He was continually late for practices and team functions to the point he was benched by the Leafs and now this. So happy he was traded.</div></div>
Not his fault on this one. They wouldn’t give him a visa to come to the states, and he never had one before cause he was in Canada. If he can play fast and bury the puck when Crosby dishes to him he’d be a good line mate for him.

FLA won’t spend that much. Also you could probably take weegar out and get that deal. Then trade weegar for something else

Dream Scenario
After this season to resign everyone you would probably have to give a pick to Seattle To take Voracek. Or do a classic Brooks Orpik trade to Colorado to get bought out and resigned with G To Seattle.

Decent Offseason for now
I could see Stralman going to Toronto for mid round picks, mainly clears some cap. And Toronto would get that guy with a little better puck moving, and RH shot for a 2nd or 3rd line pair.

Laine
I think this one stalled out because Flyers need there 3 young D men, especially since niskanen retired yesterday. I doubt it’s likely they’re willing to move Provy, Sanheim, Myers now.

Philadelphia next year
Yeah O’Brien about two months ago committed to BU for next season. Also where is Phil Myers, him and Sanheim have been a strong pairing since January?

O’Brien is going to play college hockey at Boston University next year. And while it’s not the worst ghost trade I’d rather keep him one more year, he doesn’t have much value and could be okay in a 3rd D pairing, I think our first two lines are locked in with Provy/Niskanen and Sanheim/Myers. It doesn’t seem like Hagg would get more than 2 mil., Myers probably gets closer to what you have Hagg, and the cap will probably be less than that, especially if there are no playoffs.

Edmonton Anaheim trade
I don’t think that’s enough for Manson in terms of what Anaheim wants, however personally I think it’s fair value wise.
On the Larsson trade thats way overvaluing Johnsson. The Oilers traded Taylor Hall to get Larsson they can’t give him up for Johnson and concede that he is the worse player by adding a pick. I think a straight swap with no picks and EDM might go for it, but probably not, you’d probably have to throw a 2nd to EDM.

If Sullivan and Rutherford realize Riikola is a lot better than Jack Johnson
Anaheim won’t want Jack Johnson, they already got Gubranson. I bet that Rutherford was trying To trade Johnson there but ANA said they wanted Gubranson instead, because of the contract and he was a right shot guy with some talent, just big and slow.

HUGE trade with Rangers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Root</b></div><div>But then again you think Elliott,Simmonds,Morin and good for Nugent-Hopkins,Talbot :awesome</div></div>
I mean Elliott still is a way better goalie than Talbot and much better contract than what Edm had. Simmonds is gonna have a good rebound season, and could have played a wing role with McDavid like Maroon did but I think Simmonds is more talented than Maroon. They basically are trying to replace Maroon’s production with Neal. All three of those wingers play a similar style of hockey, I think the most talented is Simmer, than Neal, than Marion. Morin is a project but could be a solid D man this upcoming season. A lot of it was also considering the cap situation.
The reason I don’t think this deal works is cause Krieder walks and you gave up your two best assets, that could help you move a bad contract, and rebuild/ reboot your franchise. When Kreider walks McDavid will want a trade because he’s already said if the management doesn’t do something he will. Personally if I’m Kreisler I want to try and stay with NYR now. He has a decent role on a team with a lot of really good pieces that just might be able to contend these next few seasons.

A Couple More Moves
I believe MacArthur’s contract is insured. This means that Ottawa doesn’t really pay him much money at all, and you would need to throw a lot more assets in to balance out the fact that they would now have to pay Johnson and Simon. Also that doesn’t seem like enough for Puljujarvi.

You paid too much for shateenkirk. He’s not that good and even if he was that contract is an albatross, and NYR are over cap. They should be paying you to take that contract.

It is actually possible because the top compensation level has to be 4 1st round picks in a 5 year span. Still very unlikely to happen.

That’s way too much for Kessel. Maybe one of Merkley or the 1st, maybe. It’s a lot of cap hit to take on for Arizona when they are up pretty tight against it and I think because of that and the. Modified NTC in Kessels contract he would come a lot cheaper. I would say replace Merklet and the 1st with a 2nd.
