I don’t think it’s enough value for the Flyers. They want a 1st for Walker and it looks to me like they’re going to get it. Tanev will set the market but once he’s gone, Walker is the best rental Dman. Broberg has had trouble sticking in the NHL on a team that doesn’t have a strong Dcorps. And that’s a lot of salary & term to bring back with the goalie swap. Probs needs another 1st/2nd or that level prospect to make it enough for flyers. EDM not likely to pay that.

The value isn’t there for Colorado and Anaheim. People think of Bedard as having a value of a young Crosby. Mackinnon isn’t moving from Colorado for Malkin +. Rutta and Petry are both expensive options for FLA and MIN, who both need all the cap room they can get. Maybe the Philly trade but I think Briere and torts would rather play young players to fill the holes.

Flyers fans - how much
Can’t say I follow the stars too much. Last I remember Faksa was a decent 3C with possible 2C potential. He’s a little older now, do you think he’s a solid 3C or more like a 4C now?

Rebuilding the D-core
It sounds like ARI will have to get rid of some of there bigger contracts this offseason. They will probably end up taking on contracts with a heavy cap hit, low cash, if possible. I doubt they will have the financial ability to spend that much in free agency.

Solving the ARI Money Issue
Parish is gone from Min. He was scratched to get that message, and only playing now cause of injuries. No contending team can afford that contract. If he wants to play he will have to go to a rebuilding team. NYI were in on him but my guess is they are now out, due to cap constraints. If Parise goes There is a non-zero chance Suter might be willing to go to. I think OEL looks at Minnesota and says hell it can’t be worse than staying in ARI for the rest of his contract.

Basically plus these contracts allow the owners to reach cap minimum with out paying much cash.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oilfan1717</b></div><div>The Pitlick deal doesn’t make much sense for either team - Edmonton isn’t in the market for a depth RW (we have Archibald and Kassian and will likely re-sign Chaisson) and Arizona would seem to to be better off with Pitick than whoever they’d draft in the 6th round.</div></div>
From what I’ve gathered from sparsely watching Edmonton is that they do not have good enough support players. Pitlick is better than Archibald and Kassian, arguably Chiasson too. I also think pitlick can play either wing. Also on the ARI side he is going to be a free agent better to get something for him than nothing.

How this team had basically no draft picks, a lot of old guys and the point is the owners are not sure they could pay everyone, so the contracts they picked up mean they can reach the floor and not have to pay that much cash.

Better off keeping OEL than getting MDZ. Neither parts of your “tanking” thread would reach salary minimum.

Yeah but if your tight on him and Crosby’s out you’re probably gonna get burned by Crosby, or Guentzel. I’m just saying he fits playing with them very well at his best. At his worst it was a waste of a first round pick...

He never crashes the net either so he won't work with Crosby. He's billed as something he just isn't. He's like AA, super fast, terrible defensively and lazy</div></div>
I agree he’s kinda like Kessel, younger and more unproven for sure, horrible with possession and defensive. Hell of a wrister if he can get it off. Doesn’t play physical, but if people are drawn to Crosby will give him more room to shoot, when he was at his best with toronto was because he was on a better line with faster players getting more of the defensive coverage. He’s still young and if it doesn’t work out has a skill set where he’d be easy to move still.

Not his fault on this one. They wouldn’t give him a visa to come to the states, and he never had one before cause he was in Canada. If he can play fast and bury the puck when Crosby dishes to him he’d be a good line mate for him.

After this season to resign everyone you would probably have to give a pick to Seattle To take Voracek. Or do a classic Brooks Orpik trade to Colorado to get bought out and resigned with G To Seattle.

Decent Offseason for now
I could see Stralman going to Toronto for mid round picks, mainly clears some cap. And Toronto would get that guy with a little better puck moving, and RH shot for a 2nd or 3rd line pair.

I think this one stalled out because Flyers need there 3 young D men, especially since niskanen retired yesterday. I doubt it’s likely they’re willing to move Provy, Sanheim, Myers now.

O’Brien is going to play college hockey at Boston University next year. And while it’s not the worst ghost trade I’d rather keep him one more year, he doesn’t have much value and could be okay in a 3rd D pairing, I think our first two lines are locked in with Provy/Niskanen and Sanheim/Myers. It doesn’t seem like Hagg would get more than 2 mil., Myers probably gets closer to what you have Hagg, and the cap will probably be less than that, especially if there are no playoffs.

Edmonton Anaheim trade
I don’t think that’s enough for Manson in terms of what Anaheim wants, however personally I think it’s fair value wise.
On the Larsson trade thats way overvaluing Johnsson. The Oilers traded Taylor Hall to get Larsson they can’t give him up for Johnson and concede that he is the worse player by adding a pick. I think a straight swap with no picks and EDM might go for it, but probably not, you’d probably have to throw a 2nd to EDM.
