If Sullivan and Rutherford realize Riikola is a lot better than Jack Johnson
Anaheim won’t want Jack Johnson, they already got Gubranson. I bet that Rutherford was trying To trade Johnson there but ANA said they wanted Gubranson instead, because of the contract and he was a right shot guy with some talent, just big and slow.

HUGE trade with Rangers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Root</b></div><div>But then again you think Elliott,Simmonds,Morin and good for Nugent-Hopkins,Talbot :awesome</div></div>
I mean Elliott still is a way better goalie than Talbot and much better contract than what Edm had. Simmonds is gonna have a good rebound season, and could have played a wing role with McDavid like Maroon did but I think Simmonds is more talented than Maroon. They basically are trying to replace Maroon’s production with Neal. All three of those wingers play a similar style of hockey, I think the most talented is Simmer, than Neal, than Marion. Morin is a project but could be a solid D man this upcoming season. A lot of it was also considering the cap situation.
The reason I don’t think this deal works is cause Krieder walks and you gave up your two best assets, that could help you move a bad contract, and rebuild/ reboot your franchise. When Kreider walks McDavid will want a trade because he’s already said if the management doesn’t do something he will. Personally if I’m Kreisler I want to try and stay with NYR now. He has a decent role on a team with a lot of really good pieces that just might be able to contend these next few seasons.

A Couple More Moves
I believe MacArthur’s contract is insured. This means that Ottawa doesn’t really pay him much money at all, and you would need to throw a lot more assets in to balance out the fact that they would now have to pay Johnson and Simon. Also that doesn’t seem like enough for Puljujarvi.

You paid too much for shateenkirk. He’s not that good and even if he was that contract is an albatross, and NYR are over cap. They should be paying you to take that contract.

It is actually possible because the top compensation level has to be 4 1st round picks in a 5 year span. Still very unlikely to happen.

Is stephen Johns going to be back next season? I’ve seen a lot of people say it on capfriendly ACGM’s lately but don’t know enough of his situation. The last I checked he was out indefinitely.

That’s way too much for Kessel. Maybe one of Merkley or the 1st, maybe. It’s a lot of cap hit to take on for Arizona when they are up pretty tight against it and I think because of that and the. Modified NTC in Kessels contract he would come a lot cheaper. I would say replace Merklet and the 1st with a 2nd.

What do PhillyLeaf Fans think of this trade
Myers is a potentially a top D guy. Laughton is a poor man’s Kadri but younger. You could at least throw in one of your RHD prospects, but even then I don’t see Fletcher accepting. Fletcher also said he really liked Myers, as a piece of the Flyers young D Corp.

I don’t think the Flyers would need a goalie back, and the Maple Leafs would be interested in Hagg, because he’s a LHD.

I don’t know if you know this but Trouba doesn’t want to stay in Winnipeg and has said he prefers to play in the US. I’m just saying that Winnipeg can’t keep playing chicken with a player that doesn’t want to play for them. If they keep going he will leave as a UFA and get nothing. Most GMs are aware of his situation, so his trade price is probably going more down than up at this point.

Flyers won’t trade that for Trouba, who everyone knows will be traded. If Hayes was a 5th, Trouba could probably get a roster player, a late pick and prospect with 3rd line potential.

The Flyers won’t do this. Quick for MacDonald is not worth it straight up, Quick has looked horrible this season and his cap hit and term make it not worth it.

Arizona and helping Tampa
I really like the Arizona trade, Crouse looks like he could be a little bit of a steal. I don’t think that Tampa trade makes much sense though, we need a 2C and Miller is somewhat overrated. Also I like the D corp, I think that Fletcher will make a move on D, but I hope he just trades Gudas and gets a better RHD to replace him somehow.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>Polak is there not score points, he's there to keep people out of Stars' goal. He's a 240lbs bulldozer. I'd gladly keep him around rather than waste a year on MacDonald.
Besides DAL doesn't really need to save actual money. They're in good position financially speaking.
I'd recommend moving MacDonald to a team that needs help to get closer to the cap floor.
DAL just has 0 use for him. There isn't a slot for him.</div></div>

I understand what your saying, I’m not saying they have to go out and get him, or that it’s likely, but it is a possibility. Also, depending on what happens to Lovejoy and Polak as free agents Dallas might need a couple of Dmen.

OTT declines the owner doesn’t want to spend money on Stone, Duchene, and Karlsson , so why would they spend that much money on 3 mediocre defensemen , a goalie prospect and a bottom 6’er?

MacDonald is of zero use, wouldn't even be a reserve D in DAL, and Twarynski is not tempting enough sweetener to dump MacDonald in any team.</div></div>
It saves them actual money not cap hit. And if you use MacDonald to replace Lovejoy or Polak he’s basically equivalent. Polak has 9 pts,+6 in 77 games, MacDonald had 9pts, -9 in 47. MacDonald also had a worse goaltender in almost all of his games played, while Polak had Khubodin and Bishop.

It nets the franchise a prospect with Top 9 potential, and saves Dallas some money if they choose to buy MacDonald out, or they can put him on the bottom line since there are gonna be some holes due to free agents. They could just as easily accept, its 50/50.

TB Cap Not as bad as it seems Tampa Offseason Trade with MTL and signing Point
Tampa will want to sign at least one maybe two veteran defensemen. Those defense men are going to want decent cap, but it’s worth it for the security, no NHL team would want to start what amounts to 3 rookies on D. Also you need a 4th line winger. I’m guessing that the Dmen and winger will push you over the cap, without additional moves to get rid of salary.

I don’t think it’s that risky because the actual money he earns isn’t that much. He makes $7 mil in salary over the next three seasons, so as long as he’s a 4th liner or can be LTIR’ed then someone like the Senators who need a cap hit would take him.</div></div>
