I’d throw in a pick, but start with a late rounder, and see where it goes.

That’s ridiculous to give up two NHL guys way younger when Voracek over the last three seasons has produced on par if not better. Also I disagree about the age thing because it’s only two years, and you never know when injuries will get to a player.the most I would throw in is a 2nd round pick to offset the age, not a young offensive NHL d-man. I still think that is a little high.

Yeah I don’t think the Flyers should move Ghost. I think the Oilers will move Talbot he’s been awful this season has an .895 SV% and he’s lost the starting job to Koskinen. While I don’t think this deal makes the most sense to the Oilers, an Elliott-Talbot swap could work. Also if the right pieces went through simmonds for RNH could work with a pick and a prospect or two.

What do you think It would take to even out for Hopkins? A high draft pick or high prospect? Do you have any ideas?

Interesting. I think we’re taking different sides of the same situation. You think Detroit will fill from within for the most part and resign Howard? I was thinking they would resign Howard for somewhere near 6 mil, does he deserve a raise, meh, probably not but it’s not a bad price if he can stay around a 920 SV%. Sign a winger to take Nyquists place so that cost will be at least 6.5-7 mil. And sign another Top 4 Dman if not two which is where all the capspace would go. I don’t really know the strength of their farm system except for Zadina and Veleno. I still think they will try and sign free agents and be tighter on the cap than you think but you do bring up the valid point that they could play young guys until they can move contracts or the contracts expire. The other part of it is Zetterberg may not want to stay active and would cause near 5 million a season in recapture penalties.

Detroit might have 20 mil but they need to sign replacements for Nyquist who’s tied for most points on the team, Vanek who has 10 pts so far, Kronwall and a starting goalie when they don’t keep Howard. Plus they have a few RFA’s and whatever else. They won’t have much room and will be using LTIR again next season. They should look to save cap where it’s possible.

Yeah Detroit is in bad shape though the cap goes up soon but Zetterberg couldn’t retire officially because they don’t have enough cap space with the penalties from his contract. I agree Johns is a much better player, but he has injury issues stemming from concussions and hasn’t played in quite a while. So we’re mostly taking dead contracts back from these deals.

I like Myers but watching him versus Friedman right now Friedman looks better. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure Myers has a bigger ceiling, but it just looks like Friedman is a solid NHL D-man right now.

Boedekker has been a solid player, and has 9 pts. In 14 games for a not very good Ottawa team. And yes actually there is no problem using LTIR to stay under the cap if you don’t mind paying the money. Arizona has done the opposite for years to reach the cap floor, and contenders have used LTIR, since Pronger got hurt.

A shakeup to the core that could work
The Honka trade is good although I personally don’t think Shore is worth it because of our young forward depth. I think we should trade Voracek but not sure if Carolina accepts that. Though they’d be a decent trade partner given salary constraints and all. I also don’t think Hexy would trade Voracek in the division.

Yeah I agree that it’s unlikely but I think value wise it’s fair. I doubt the Flyers would want to assume such risk, and it would lock up a lot of cap for the Blue Jackets but maybe worth it in the long run.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>That's fairly interesting.
Probably not, though. Panarin's gonna be UFA. Trading a star player for him would be too much of a risk.</div></div>

I think they start JVR up on 2nd Line Lindbolm with 3rd line. Laughton is on the left wing, Raffl takes right wing centered by Lethera or Weal. Other than that I agree

Philly set up well longterm
Flyers will not trade Sanheim, Defenseman are often later bloomers than forwards, and he is still pretty young and has shown to be competitive for minutes. I think most NHL teams would have played him all season last season instead of sending him to the minors as soon as he struggled. Also, no one knows how Morin is going to heal, and that will take probably two years to be fully healed from knee injuries. I think Sanheim stays with the team beacause you can eat half of Macdonald’s contract and send a mid round pick to another team to get out of it at this point, and Sanheim is much better 3rd line defender than Macdonald. Additionally Myers and ghost would switch sides if paired, it would let them drive the offense easier, and be better for one timers from the point.

Honestly he’s probably the most likely best scenario for Flyers to acquire a Top 4 Dman like Hexy has said. In terms of cost all that baggage makes him fairly cheap. He’s a right handed shot and has been playing so not just standing pat.
