Team North America coach Todd McLellan just put Drouin on his top line with McDavid to start camp. On a NA team loaded with talent that gives you an idea of Drouin’s value. The Russians picked Tampa’s Namestnikov over Nichushkin for their WC team; that gives you an idea of Nich’s value.
Leaving out the fact that Tampa can’t take back any salary, the value on this deal is beyond ridiculous.
But one thing is for sure, that trade would make Dallas the hands down favorite for the cup.

Getting Hamilton a partner to perfect a top 4 (Garrison)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JQuick32</b></div><div><i>Given Tampa's cap situation, I think you could get Garrison for less than that</i></div></div>
Garrison’s salary was front loaded so his last year’s salary is only $2.5. He is going to be a great deal for a team under cap. As a Tampa fan, I unfortunately have to agree, you could probably get him for less, but the key for Tampa would be no salary retained because it’s all about cap space. Then the 2nd rd pick should do it.

If we want to keep Bishop for the long run
I like the lineup but you are treating Garrison and Fippula as if they were Bickell and Bolland. They are not total cap dumps, just overpaid. Garrison is still a top 4 Dman, at worst a third pair and his last year salary is only 2.5. That’s a steal for an under cap team. Fippula is at least a 3C. Moving those two is not going to incur a cost like 1st round picks. Vasi for a top D prospect is great but it needs to be a RHD not Theodore. Our best D prospect are LD, Masin and Hajek, with no great RHD in the pipline (Blujus and Spencer don’t project to be top pair) so Vasi for a RHD similar to Theodore would be the target

Tampa Bay 2016-17 (with trade)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boucie_</b></div><div><i>There are, but I would have to respectfully disagree with them. First, even if you think Callahan is still a top six talent in the league, power to you, but with Hedmans extension kicking in, and Drouin ELC expiring next season, not too mention Kucherov still needs to be signed ... you're going to run into some cap issues and end up having too get rid of top flight young players, instead of your older vets who aren't contributing as much as they have in the past, just look to Chicago and see what happened to them. If Yzerman wants to keep Callahan great, but something's going to give and you're not going to like it when it does. In regards too him being on team USA that's a BS argument in my opinion. The USA selection committee did a terrible job with picking their roster, taking (in comparison to their options) unproductive players like Callahan and Abdelkader, over top talents in the league like Kessel and Johnson. Not to mention USA's talent to select from isn't as deep as Canada's for example, so of course they'll have some weak links.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JScott</b></div><div><i>Callahan is a bit overpaid but you just valued him way, way lower than Bolland. Since he got picked for the World Cup this year, there are some people who would disagree with you on his value.</i></div></div></i></div></div>
My point was that Bolland was moved for one top prospect and Callahan is way more valuable than Bolland. Yes, if SY keeps him it will cost a forward, probably Killorn, but the difference between Killorn and Callahan is not 3 1st round picks for any sane person.

What the… In his best year Couture put up 67 points. Johnson (72) Palat (63). AND a pick. This is a joke, right?

Thanks for the memories Ultraman Giordano
As a Tampa fan I agree completely with your assessment of Palat and what he would do for Calgary. And Tampa will likely have to part with a top forward next summer. But you have misread Tampa’s need and cap situation. If they had $6,750,000 to take on Giordano, they would not need to trade Palat in the first place. The need is RHD and it is so desperate we were apparently willing to trade Bishop to Dallas for Honka at the draft. Tampa can’t take on any cap, can’t lose a RHD like Stralman, and will want a very good RHD on ELC as a start for someone like Palat.

Kucherov

If Kucherov would sign for 6.5 for 7 years the ink would have been dry a long time ago. We’d just move/waive Condra and be done with it.

With Palat and Stralman
If you are looking for RHD, Tampa is absolutely the worst team to target. We have only two as it is. That trade leaves us with just Sustr and all our best D prospects are LHD. RHD is a huge hole for Tampa. Giordano is great, but that trade could never happen.

Trades w/ CBJ, DAL, and ARI
The Filppula trade is realistic and inevitable, but I suspect it would be a top prospect attached and not a !st rd pick.
Dallas is not going to get Bishop and unload Niemi without giving up something significant like Honka +,+ not just picks.
The Johnson trade is interesting. But I'm not sure why either team would go for that. If TBL trades Bishop and Filppula, most of their cap problems are solved.
