Just for future defense you can select to use pro rated contracts at the beginning of the ACGM if that what you want to do.
As for the trade Henrique will get at least a 2nd and depending on bidders maybe more.

I mean this team has had poor injury luck. Once one of the young guys went down it was like dominoes. He’d be ready to comeback but then some else would go down. I.e. Leo looks like he’ll play tomorrow and they just lost Zegras and Mintyukov for a couple months.
Not saying they’re good yet but they haven’t even gotten a chance with all the young talent to really see.

Call me crazy but if Marner signs for like $12M or less I’d do this and even add LaCombe or Vaak if needed to make the deal barring what they do at RD. If they don’t get a high priced RD but fill that need with a mid priced guy I’m in.
Marner feels like a guy that would fit the man defensive scheme well. Cutter-Leo-Marner sounds like a fun line.
D of Minty-Gudas, Fowler-Luneau, and Zellweger-??? Could work too especially if ??? is a mid priced top 4 guy. Wouldn’t have a de facto top pair but also would have 3 solid pairs at least in paper.
But all in all it only makes sense for the ducks depending on what they do at RD.

A lot of these responses are hilarious. Shows a lot of people that know nothing about Zegras or his game. Just a bunch of people cradling a false narrative about a player to look cool.

I'm sure he's happy being a Duck right now and all of that clearly indicates how much the team values him</div></div>
This is how the “rumor” started. Bunch of guessing about things that Seravelli has no idea about and providing a clickbait headline to get interactions.

It doesn’t make sense. Ducks need scoring so they trade their most prominent scoring threat?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>I can't believe you're making me defend the Islanders but
The writing on the wall with Zegras has been there since the summer, when they tried to lowball him with an insulting offer and then didn't sign him until the last minute. No one wanted to hear me then, and some don't want to hear me now, but the Cutter Gauthier trade just makes it more obvious that Zegras isn't an important part of the Ducks' future plans.
It could be as simple as they just want to go younger, if they think a contention window is further down the line. Out goes 22yo Drysdale, in comes 19yo Gauthier. If nearly 23yo Zegras gets traded, expect them to bring in a high-end prospect 20 or younger and some picks. Anaheim was screwed out of Connor Bedard just like they were screwed out of Crosby. Now they are still actively tanking and hopefully can get Celebrini. Which would just further decrease the need for Zegras.</div></div>
He didn’t get lowballed. He wanted a short term deal so he could get the massive deal when the cap went up much like Matthews is doing to double dip.

Cutter is taking his place next season so getting max value at this TDL.
I didn’t think he’d be going anywhere without a “you can’t say no” package in return until the trade today. Think that changes things.
Think the hope would be turning Vatrano and Henrique’s returns into a top 4 RHD.

You do get that there are 4 bottom 6 winger spots on a roster by definition, and then 2 extra forwards for injury replacement, who are presumably also bottom 6 pieces. At least Jones has enough ability to play above the 4th line when need calls for it, as can Leason. Who TF are you planning to play in the bottom 6 and fill 13 and 14th forwards?</div></div>
I bet Jones won’t be a duck next season.

I want to leave them down there until they are out of waivers protection, and only let them onto the main roster early if they dominate in camp to the point where we can't send them down. The gulls need to be good too or our lesser drafted players aren't going to develop like they should. We don't always need to be grabbing the newest shiny object from down south to bring into the main roster.
We also don't need to worry about giving a bottom 6 player an extra 500k for the next few years, so again, why does it matter that he will make more? Yeah, maybe 2M was too much, I'm just throwing numbers out there. Make it 1.5, what does it matter?</div></div>
The new shiny toy won’t be playing on the 4th line in the NHL.
Why do you insist on keeping players from a bad bottom 6? It’s bad for a reason.

Jones hasn’t been good. He just hasn’t been his awful self. It’s not about McGinn over Jones. It’s about one has a contract and one doesn’t.
If you add Reinhart or another top 6 RW only the 4th line has spots available. The top 9 will be full. There’s no reason to keep both Jones and Leason when McGinn is still signed plus some of the guys from SD could play there for less than Jones will get paid and probably be more productive.
Also Jones may not even be worth more than McGinn at 50% on the trade block anyways.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Mcginn is only around another year, I'd rather retain on him and ship him out. Johnston has been fun, but I'd also loose him over Jones, he's our Ryan Reaves 14/15th forward.
I also am firmly planted in the belief that Zegras plays much better at Center. He can't pull off a Michigan from LW. The threat of him being able to do that drags a defender who is in front of the net below the goal line to prevent it from happening, allowing him to get a pass through the blue paint. It's not his only move, but he can distribute so much better from center, I'd rather keep him at C and run three equal scoring lines and let whicgever line is the big dog that week eat.</div></div>
Jones and Leason fill similar roles but Leason has been better and is on the PK. Keep Leason let Jones go. No need to keep roster congestion for a 4th liner. McGinn gone after the next season reduces some of the congestion and cap relief when his contract is up. Johnston will be between SD and ANA next season. Don’t see anyone claiming him off waivers.
As for Zegras, wingers can play below the dots in the Ozone. Every shift there’s wingers behind the net. Especially if the C plays net front, which McT does and Leo isn’t afraid to. Plus with the skill in his line there would be lots of motion. Gotta have your best players playing the most and with the other best players.
