As for us, we're not trading our shot at Wright or Bedard, either of whom might turn out to be every bit as good as Eichel, and so might the 2021 first, so we're not including Comtois if that pick is in the deal.</div></div>
Lol I'm not quite sure you understand how good Eichel is. And how much he would influence the Ducks next season if healthy

I've never heard anything regarding it being off the table... also Henrique is a negative asset and a cap dump in the deal. The 2nd and 3rd can be taken out, the details can be ironed out as well

That's fair. I'd rather Clutterbuck, but could see Komarov coming back instead.

I like the deal, but not sure the Leafs would be comfortable moving Boyd. Other than that it's fair.

Fair point. But Botterill isnt the GM anymore. Plus it's just recency bias. And I try everyday to forget that atrocity of a trade, so thanks ;)

The point of getting Tanev is to flip him, so it's not like they're acquiring him for long-term. Including him helps shed cap for the Canucks though, giving them more space to sign Boeser.

Who is that 3rd line shutting down? They would have a hard time containing a top line in the AHL, let alone any in the NHL. Haha

The more I think about it, the fonder I am of the idea of a 53-9-68 line. They have potential to be better than the top line last year because Olofsson is a pure sniper who will thrive on Jacks wing. Then Reinhart can drive line 2 and take a bit off Mittelstadt. I don't love the lineup yet, but slow progress is being made at least!

Interesting deadline deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>1. Put Montour or Joker with Dahlin, both are better than Miller
2. Why not just do Risto for Toffoli, fills both teams needs
3. Flames decline that trade makes no sense for them</div></div>
Joker with Dahlin eventually, but Montour and Dahlin played together briefly last season and I wasn't a fan of their pairing.
I'm not sold that the Kings would be down to commit to 4 years at a cap hit over $5m. Winnipeg has a need and will be looking to compete this year, Perreault helps match salary, Gustafsson + picks will not impact their team now so I could see them going for a deal like that. Imo Sabres are rich with defensive prospects, so swapping Samuelsson for Gustafsson in essence is a win as well. Rob Blake will probably be a big fan of a 6'4, 220 lbs, physical American defenseman, so for me it makes sense for the trades to be separated. As for the Flames, Valimaki is out for the year and they probably need defensive depth. Maybe Czarnik could come back to help salries match there, or another team will want to take on Scandella at 50% cap hit for a late pick. I definitely think a team will see value in him near the deadline.
Cheers.

NASHVILLE FANS - THOUGHTS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>First of all Nashville doesnt need Risto. They are fine on D. Second, that is not the return Buffalo would be looking for. Either a 1 for 1 with Buffalo getting a young top 6 forward or trading for a fringe 2nd line center and a pick/prospect</div></div>
Fabbro is probably not ready for a top 4 role, and Santini may not be good enough either. With Subban gone, there kind of is a hole there. Also, a center in Bonino and a young winger in Jarnkrok, with some picks would be a good enough return for me to pull the trigger on Risto

Haha all the power to them. Maybe can snag their own 2nd this year instead of a 3rd because they have New Jerseys pick

Risto to EDM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rangersandislesfan</b></div><div>I don't think Risto is worth that much. Lavoie was expected to go 1st round, Puljujarvi still has potential (probably worth about a 2nd right now) AND a 2nd ... think of that as a late 1st + 2 2nds for Ristolainen ... not worth it for Edmonton in my opinion.</div></div>
Lavoie clearly wasn't valued as a first rounder by GMs at the draft... He's a high risk/reward player who has had his attitude and ethic challenged by many. He's not worthy of a 1st round value tag, although he does possess high-end skill.
Puljujarvi, the Oilers have 0 leverage in that situation and would be lucky to salvage a 3rd + a late pick for him. I doubt a team would be willing to budge on parting with a 2nd for him.
So, in my opinion, the value is roughly two 2nds and a 3rd. I could change the trade to JP and two 2nds, I would still gladly do that from the Sabres perspective.

Value-wise, it's good. But there are two issues with it.
1. Carolina is way too cheap to do this then subsequently sign Marner to a deal worth $10m+. 2 roster spots for the same cost is more valuable to Tom Dundon I'm sure.
2. Dubas is scared to make a big move, afraid it will blow up in his face. He will not move Marner
But, either way, cool exercise to see the value he would have if the trade route was explored
