2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Right now tage carey and Asplund shouldn't be separated.
Still would roll with Eichel, Cozens and Casey down the middle next year. Reinhart can slide in there if there is an injury.
Also you don't buyout either of those players. Spend the extra 200-300k by burying eakins in the minors. And Okposo will be due 4 and 3 million after his buyout is paid, a team trying to hit the floor would like that contract.
No need to double the time those two would be on our books(especially eakins)

Tokarski has been great, but they can’t have him as the backup next year especially if they sign another injury prone goalie like Raanta.

Miller is definitely more valuable than Johnsson. First thing is I'd drop the picks from both sides of that trade then go shopping in B level prospects from the Leafs, maybe SDA.

we arent getting Rakell for that.
Toffoli will go elsewhere. who would sign here right now? 5 million isn't enough anyways.

Asplund, Pilut, Johansson, Borgen, Bryson, Mitts was developing well. Every AHL team pays to have AHL all-stars but still has to develop, most minor teams don't develop the kind of talent that was coming out of Rochester. Charlotte and Belleville are maybe the only two more successful ones that I can think of off the top of my head

I don't think Miller is going to be a part of our long-term plan regardless. If we don't trade him, I'm sure he'll gladly walk to UFA in two years. Can't imagine he's too thrilled with Sabres management and ownership since he was acquired</div></div>
thats fair, just stating my opinion. if miller can keep his play with dahlin up, it allows jokiharju to improve another pairing

Miller was a regular on buffalos right side. He was Dahlins partner for much of the year.
The Sabres had problems because they had too many NHL defensmen having a healthy Dahlin, McCabe, Scandella, Ristolainen, MIller, Bogosian, Jokiharju, Montour for much of the year. They dressed 7 defensemen a lot and had a bit of a rotation.
Every leafs fan was dying for Miller last offseason on this place.
I don't think I would trade him for Johnsson, who is hurt, and has a big contract for a guy who has had one decent year.

miller wasn’t a regular this past season because of our incompetent management not because of his lack of skill. he’s a good defenseman trust me. he’s good enough to be dahlins d partner if that tells you anything.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredB40</b></div><div>Maybe. I had a tough time coming up with comparable trade value the Preds would be interested in from BUF.</div></div>
I think NSH is a better team with Bonino than with the players in this package. I have the feeling that NSH will keep Bonino til at least the deadline and if they are out of the playoffs then they'll sell high on him and if they are in the playoffs they'll keep him for their run. I could see them even resigning him to a cheaper, short-term deal in the off-season. If he does end up walking as a UFA, I'd be fine with that too - so I'd rather just keep him for now and see how next season plays out.

Ristolainen trade just playing with the idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredB40</b></div><div>Makes sense. Risto's 5.4 cap hit in 2021 wont be ideal when COL is trying to sign Landeskog + Makar + Grubauer
Tough to find a fit for a 25 yr old D making 5.4 mil thru 2022 that is ideally suited to play sheltered 2nd/3rd line D assignments & PP2</div></div>
Depending on how UFA goes for them, Calgary might be the best fit.
Other teams that could be interested if the price is right and they strike out in UFA are Toronto, Anaheim, Winnipeg, LA, Vancouver, Minnesota, or Detroit.
In general this won't be a great offseason to trade RHD's, as there will be plenty of them available in free agency, along with the flat cap which will make it hard to move big contracts.

Buffalo passes. Not a bad trade, but with Kahun we have Olofsson, Skinner, and Kahun (and possibly Ruotsolainen) down the left side, so no reason to get roped into a chunky contract. Just doesn't fit what we need to put up the big bucks for.

Attempting an Eichel Trade
Idk why ppl even attempt these ridiculous type trades?
Eichel isn’t going anywhere
But if for some reason Buffalo was going to move him to Philly,
the deal would look more like:
Couturier, Konecny, Hart & Provorov...
and then probably throw in a couple 1sts
Does that sound ridiculous?
Bc so does trading Eichel, so there ya go

I agree and with that return Detroit keeps AA for at least another season. Bryson is 5'9" 179lbs. He is good skater but lacks the high end skill that makes smaller players successful at the NHL level. Plus Yzerman likes big defenseman so I just can't picture Bryson in Detroit. Thompson is in his 3rd season as a pro and he has been unable to make 2 different teams Detroit has no interest in completing his hat trick of futility.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredB40</b></div><div>I know this is all for fun and this offer would never be considered obviously... but i do think you could make an interesting offer if you include Detroit's 2020 1st...
The trade would have to happen by the trade deadline this year... but it's still safe to say that even Eichel wouldn't be able to pull detroit out of last place.
So the Sabres gamble on the lottery by trading Eichel for the 1st, Larkin, Mantha, and Cholowski or something crazy like that.
Never gonna happen, but it's fun to think about. Honestly it'd be more interesting than our current team and situation</div></div>
