Columbus is going to win the Foligno trade
they already won the trade, if they want to re-sign an over the hill guy to an extension that's not changing anything

ANNOUNCE FOLIGNO
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>They need a 3rd liner who’s not a perimeter player. A guy who can play dirty and score dirty goals. Similar to Brady Tkachuk and Tom Wilson. That’s what the Leafs need. Obvs Foligno is older but hopefully he can be a lighter version of that</div></div>
the leafs already have lots of guys who arnt perimiter players. Foligno is nothing like either of those guys anymore, he's washed. This isnt the same Foligno that the sens traded, and he's a lighter version of that the way a glider is a lighter version of a 747

Mikheyev is better than Foligno at this point, why on earth would toronto do this?

lol, the fact that he mentions the avs as a possibility means that this is bunk. of all the GM's in the league, Joe Sakic isnt spending a 1st on a broken down 33 year old 3-4 line tweener

Cheap LD depth targets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>He isn't. He just has a bunch of assists this year and somehow looks good. He's no better than anyone else on the list.</div></div>
He is, and while his assists are higher than normal, they arnt super out of whack with his career numbers. The reason Reilly is good is because he's actually a very good defensive player for a bottom pairing guy, and this year he's doing even better than normal while getting hard defensive minutes and almost 60% dzone starts. He's way more in line from what the leafs need in a bottom pairing guy than any of the others here

Cheap LD depth targets

Hutton is awful, hes the worst defender on the worst defense on the north

Deadline Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NazKat</b></div><div>Yeah nope. He's a good veteran leader and depth defenseman to keep in case of injuries and he is definitely not awful. I would rather have Staal than Marincin or an inexperienced Sandin playing in the playoffs.</div></div>
No, hes legitimately awful. He isnt an nhl player at all and is a liability. He cant score or defend at a good ahl level let alone an nhl one.
There are no redemptive parts of his game and the leafs have more than enough 'veteran presence'.

Marc staal is awful, he's only useful to a team that is tanking

that's because they dont understand that the leafs need to add depth, not shuffle deck chairs.

yeah, that's quite optimistic, no team is giving you 1st rounders for bottom pairing defenders

yikes, no that's terrible for the leafs. They want a guy like Laughton to ADD to their bottom 6, not replace a guy, and he isnt worth anything in that deal alone, let alone adding in ghostbear who is awful and a cap dump

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HOCKEYBOY448</b></div><div>Oh god could you imagine. That dude was a bust. The likes of Dylan Mclrath.</div></div>
im a leafs fan, i dont have to imagine. that year the leafs drafted Stuart Percy and Tyler Biggs at 25th and 22nd respectivly when Saad, Gibson, Danault, Rakell and Jenner were still on the board
Oh, and they traded up for Biggs with pick a pick they traded up for....with the picks used on Rakell and Gibson.

it's the leafs, if they hadnt traded for Kessel they'd have lost the seguin lotto and burke would have drafted Ryan Murphy over Hamilton

The leafs would be trading for a guy like Laughton to bolster their current forward depth, not replace any of it

Interesting Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>He definitely adds some grit and is good defensively still. Definitely isn't going to be a big producer but Foligno would be a wise addition. Who comes out? One of Engvall or Mikheyev. Personally I think Mikheyev is the guy I'd take out even if it's just to get him a little fired up. Not that I am a guy who wants everyone to hit all the time, but certain guys I want to see throw on sometimes. Mikheyev has the speed to really line guys up and never does. Just throw one or two a game please. It would really disrupt the other team.</div></div>
He's actually been pretty bad defensively this season, but in a limited role hed be ok, especially with other good play driving guys who can skate (if not score) like Engvall and mikheyev.
He's pretty washed at this point but has some value left, just not at the level people think of when they remember the guy he used to be

Nylander is a very good 1st line player. The leafs would love to add another one of him, because they're smart
