Not a great set of trades to win cup this year or have any real future... boeser, rakell and manson will all walk in free agency and our goaltending still isn't strong enough to win a cup this year. So all we get is one more year of jt Miller for 3 core peices, two high picks and two useful journeymen. I would hope **** would even think of trading Nylander or Liljegren.

Having that roster more than 5 mill over the cap.. how do you plan on making all that work? I am not a fan of the domi deal, but the other ones would be good

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aussie_Blackhawk</b></div><div>I don't think this is beneficial for either team tbh. Not enough for us to bite and not worth it for TOR</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PrisonMike</b></div><div>I see one cap dump in Ritchie, where are the other two? Wouldn't trade Robertson for Muprhy MAF alone nevermind the package.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>It's a bad deal for the Leafs. Sure Murphy is better than Dermot, that's the only benefit for this season. But like so many posts, no consideration for the Leafs cap and Murphy's 4.4m X 4 contract staring next season. Getting rid of Ritchie isn't going THAT expensive to get rid of.
By the way, Mrzarek and Fleury have identical GAA this season and near identical save %.f</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>and yet one team's defense is bad and gives up a lot more high danger chances and the goalie plays against the best teams and the other team's defense is good and that goalie typically plays against the weaker teams</div></div>
So, MAF is a big upgrade to Mrazek in my mind and Mrazek gives Chicago a proven NHL goalie for a few years as they develope their #1 goalie of the future. Dermott gives them a versatile bottom pair dman, Hollowell is a big man and an interesting prospect and Robertson is a medium to high end prospect to sweeten the pot for the Ritchie cap dump that could turn into a good bottom 6 forward for them. He is a good player, just no fit for him here. Overall I think it does have value for both teams in their current situation

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>Over paying for 4th defencemen from buffalo and josh manson are about as in the box as you can get for a leafs agm</div></div>
Well in agm you are overpaying or underpaying. Jokiharju can move up a pair if there is an injury and psyk is good as extra player. Good dman and can play forward. Very versatile. Moving mrazek is the big one in that deal. Opening up cap space next year to sign Campbell. Manson gives us a shutdown pair once again as I believe Muzzin has losts left if he doesn't have to be constantly worried about covering up for Holl

Mrazek is still a capable tender and works great in tandems. He has injury problems and they have kept him out of the crease. So far this year. I would add more than a third to make that trade happen and you might be surprised with the answer Chicago gives considering their depth in net right now. He would be good for the young tenders

The only way the Toronto trade works is if you take cap back. So make that Mrazek and a 4th and I would do that deal.

Holding the fort
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>so last time for me explaining the goalie trade, it makes the goaltending worse. You do not want to get worse goaltending when you are tyring to win now. And Woll is even worse than Korpisalo, and even if you did want to downgrade for cap reasons, you do not pay someone to take the better goalie from you.
The soucy trade is expensive because it's a massive over payment. It doesnt matter if he has 1 or 10 years left on his deal he simply isnt worth 1/10th of the value here.</div></div>
Again.... the bleeping wall. Go sit in a corner with the other habs fans who no nothing, have no original ideas and just want to say that what you think should happen is wrong. I looked at a few of your teams and almost pissed myself laughing. You definitely are one of the most unintelligent people on here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>and yet the goaltending gets worse and it costs you a top prospect. And Soucy's numbers are middling. He;s a bottom pairing defender on a bad team. Plus minus means literally nothing. literally. He is worth a 3rd on deadline day tops</div></div>
So last time explaining the goalie trade... yes its a down grade, yes its expensive. But it save cap this year and the next two years. we can send Korpisalo down to the minors and bring up Woll if he is a problem... do ya get it now or should I explain it to the wall. The soucy trade is a bit expensive because he is not a rental and honestly, the market place for defense is thin this year. Make a team so I can rip your ideas apart over and over and over without making much sense lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>when you are trading a better goalie for a worse one you arnt dumping salary, so no it doesnt cost a good prospect to get worse at defence. And how does soucy make the team less fragile? seattle is awful and he's not good.</div></div>
Well, the cap hit for our backup goalie goes from 3.5 to 1.4... 1.1 mill net gain and only this year left. Make more room next year to sign Soupy back. Soucy is on a bad team, but his numbers are still good. Somehow he is a plus player this year and he has one more year on that deal so, that is worth it

Salary dumping costs and that's the price you pay. We need to dump some dead weight to get into a position of a playoff team. We are too fragile of a team

I take it your talking about Chabot... sorry names are useful. So yes, there will always be really good players that don't make the cut. I felt that there was enough offense and that we needed someone that would be more shutdown and have mote penalty killing ability. It was a tough one. I wanted doughty there for his experience and he is off to a great year with LA

McMuffin sucks defensively. I would not want him against other teams first line. He would end up a minus player by the end of the tournament. Crosby's line would be able to shut down top lines and put up points. To me, the McMuffin line is a prototypical 2nd line. Lends more to offense than defense

I dont watch a lot of flyers games, I was looking at numbers and team standings. Kuemper has a better team in front of him right now and would be in a better state of mind. I think MAF has to be there. We cannot go in with 3 goalies who have not won anything at the top level of hockey.
