Get Lane To Chick-Fil-A
"Send him to the AHL because he's too small" that's probably the worst reason to send him to the AHL. He will be targeted in the AHL much more than the NHL for his size. The NHL can be a dump and chase league, but the AHL is a dump and target league, those big AHL wingers aren't looking to dump and chase, they're looking to dump and destroy.
If Lane is too small for the NHL, the Habs did him a disservice by signing him, he could have had another year in college. I expect Lane to stay in the NHL from this point forward or head overseas, never the AHL.

Ken Hughes magic once again to make sure he doesn't lose precious NCAA prospects to free agency.
Montreal doesn't have a big top 9 winger in the pipeline, making Xhekaj and now Tuch overly important.

UFA vets to complete top 6
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTLaveragefan</b></div><div>If Mony is willing to take that for 2 years, sure! But I doubt it.
He rehabbed his career in MTL and he is probably looking for a longterm deal that will carry him to retirement.</div></div>
The point is that ELC expire quickly. Guhle and Slaf expire next year but Dach, Hutson, Mailloux, Roy, Beck, Mesar, Reinbacher will expire in two years. Some might have opportunity to shine with MTL and ask for a decent amount of money. I don’t think they are planning to go after a big UFA this offseason. If they do, it will be for a vet that accepts a two year contract.

It's Matheson's job to lose. And Hutson's position to earn. Period.

Montreal Canadiens signed Lane Hutson (3 Years / $1,333,333 AAV)
Good player, good signing.
Lane’s size is always going to be a question. But it has been at every level and every year, he has continued to exceed expectations. When he first was called up onto the USA squad for U18 worlds in his D-1 year (ahead of Casey and Chesley), everyone thought it was a typo (he was listed at five-foot-six-inches). After a summer of bulking up, he went into his draft year at 5’7” and around 140 lbs and eventually became best offensive dman for NTDP. In his pre-draft interviews, he brought medical stats that said he would grow to at least 5’10” (imagine that kind of pressure…”grow now!”).
At Boston University, he had two fantastic seasons. He was Hobey Baker top-10 finalist as a Freshman dman (can count on one hand how many have accomplished that). This year, the Hutson-Celebrini duo on BU’s power play was one of the best we have seen in years (it would be very cool to see the two pair up again at next level).
Hutson will be one of the most fun players to watch grow into a NHLer. I will be rooting for him.

At last, the weird worrying that he might not sign in Montreal even though there’s never been the slightest indication that was an issue can stop.
Expectations for what he’ll do in the Detroit games are probably going to be way too high, but I’m excited to see him in uniform.

He'll be great to watch despite his mistake that led to a Denver goal.
That was the worst refereed college game I've ever seen. Those refs deserve to be in the NHL. Boston University got cheated good.

Not sure the "stupid" was necessary. That's really mean. Hurt my feelings a little bit
Also, not really a troll. More like sarcasm.
In all seriousness getting 2 1sts and some decent prospects for that albatross of a Huberdeau contract is obviously not going to happen. Even with bad contract coming back.
And if Calgary got this sort of offer they wouldn't just "consider it" they'd jump on it without hesitation.

I was thinking of the exact same thing the other day, but a 1 for 1. Can't speak for STL, but MTL definitely will have a harder time replacing Guhle than finding a winger to complete the top 6.

Habs decline.
The habs are more than happy to let armia play out his last year. He was a very good sport about the demotion and came back playing better. It wpuldnt even shock me if he signed a cheap extension.
In josh vs marc we have too many dmen already who need playing time its easier for us to manage a extra forward than dman.
Ozzy at this point is basically worthless hes a bust ahler while harris is a strong analytics nhl dman.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sharcuda22</b></div><div>No thanks from the sharks my goodness</div></div>
Actually, I think the Sharks should do the Vlasic for Anderson swap. Vlasic is blocking our D prospects from icetime, is no longer solid defensively, and is not going to score 6 goals again next season. The Sharks need bigger forwards like Anderson and we'll have room for him on our roster and in our budget when Labanc and Hoffman are gone. This is a bad contract swap that benefits both teams. Better than buyouts.
Overall it's $14 M for Vlasic and $16.5 M for Anderson so maybe the Habs should send a 3rd round pick or a B level prospect to the Sharks as well.

I think this user probably just did this so that he was off the team, not indictative of actual interest by Montreal. I could be wrong but giving them benefit of the doubt lol
