KK buyout wont hurt much
Is the KK situation really that bad? I remember a Canes fan or two going as far as to say he deserved some Selke ballots last season.

I don’t think Savard will be moved this week because the market value has been set(which is much lower than what you’ve proposed) and I don’t think Hughes will move him for said market value…but if there were to be a trade of Savard to Edmonton I believe Ceci would have have to be going the other way.

Can’t see why the Habs would do that either. Last thing we need is another LD.

I like Montembeault, but if someone were to give me the choice between him at 27 years old vs Askarov with elite potential at 21 years old who fits the core age group. I think the choice is pretty obvious. Obviously it would all depend on the cost of acquisition.
So, if anything, it would be counterproductive to keep Montembeault over acquiring someone like Askarov. (in this hypothetical situation, I'm perfectly happy with MTL keeping Monty in the real world lol)</div></div>
“Elite potential”. We got a guy who is a proven starter now and a 19 year old with elite potential in Fowler. Goalies are tough to bank on. Askarov could get a real chance to start in the NHL and fall flat on his face against better shooters, Monty could come out next year with a lack of confidence after another bottom standing finish and fall apart and Fowler could make his start in the NHL in a few years and horribly disappoint. I think we’ve been spoiled with having Price for so many years but the truth is, guys like that don’t come around that often. I like what we got in goal atm, just need to move Allen and get back to a 2 guy system.

If you feel the team can compete next year, agreed it's counter-productive. If you feel the team needs next season as well as a development year, I would do this deal.</div></div>
I feel it’s important that the team starts competing next year, still not a contender by any means but fighting for a playoff spot. This season will be the third year in a row of being at the bottom of the standings, the players, the fans and the brass need to see progress. Keep Monty, add a top 6 guy and the dcore will be a year older and more experienced…not to mention fingers crossed a healthy Dach. Keep to the process, we already have a possibility of an elite starter in Fowler coming up and we got a solid starter in Monty for 3 years, the timeline is well thought out.

That would be quite counterproductive, trade a starter who wants to be here for futures only to turn around and chase another starter…

Would you consider trading Montembeau for the right return
Morale is important for young players development and having a guy in the net that has the team’s confidence is huge for morale. To trade Monty would hurt this rebuild almost as much as anything else, that’s why I don’t think we can put a price on him because his value to his current team way out values his value in any trade.

You don’t have space for him on the fourth line? Taking Reaves out of the lineup is an immediate positive by subtraction. Replace him with a guy who can fight and actually skate. Reaves is ridiculous talking to the media constantly about who will be his next fight like a UFC fighter trying to stay relevant.

The Tanev trade set the market so my bet is Savard stays a Hab.

Buyout for Gally -333333/2.166667/4.666667/2.166667/2.1666667/2.1666667
Buyout for Campbell
1.1/2.3/2.6/1.5/1.5/1.5
And if they decide to bury another year before buyout
2.15/2.45/1.35/1.35
For me this deal would financially help a cup contender now while giving Gally a chance at a cup.
And would also give a rebuilding team financial help in the future while giving a bottom 6 roster spot to a young player.
Win/win.

your going to have to buy out cambell soup
gallagher plays on the team hes not negative value.,</div></div>
Unfortunate to say at this point as I’ve always been a fan of Gally but at 6.5 he is the very definition of negative value.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Black61</b></div><div>Terrible trade for montreal
Kovacevic is the only positive value piece here and the habs are giving up a retention spot.
Gallagher at 6.5 is signifigantly better than campbell at 5. Gallagher atleast is still a excellent possession driving forward and individual chance generator (currently sits 33rd in the league in ixG). If they keep him away from dvorak he can pretty comfortably still be a 30-35 point guy at even strength which is excellent.
Campbell is straight up not a nhl goalie and makes everything more difficult as roster juggling a overpaid goalie is much harder than a overpaid forward</div></div>
This trade is made with nothing but the future in mind for Montreal and the present for the Oilers. Campbell is a much easier buyout in the offseason than Gally while Ceci will only have 1 year left on his contract, if Mailloux or Reinbacher are ready come next season we use Ceci as a 7th dman. The retention spot used would be on a rental meaning it’s only for the rest of this season. The idea is to eat cap now as to free up as much cap as possible within the next year and a half to two years.

Montreal can easily set the price for a value who can be considered as a Top 10 pick....... and the fun part is like they will gonna have few teams who will gonna be ready to paid the price.</div></div>
Xhekaj is actually a talented player, it was his defensive decision making that Montreal was working so hard to correct. He skates well, got a rocket for a shot and handles the puck well in the offensive zone. His problem was he’d engage physically even when it put him out of positioning, he’d not make the smart pass in his zone when he was under pressure and he could be lured into untimely penalties. He’s been playing top 4 the last few games and all those weaknesses in his game have seemed to of vastly improved. He’s a late bloomer and obviously very coachable not to mention a physical freak. Mark my words, the Xhekaj brothers will be a mainstay in the Habs lineup by the time this rebuild is complete.

How Id start next season
I’d trade Dvo for Ryjo, Avs place Dvo on LTIR for the rest of the season and get cap relief for the rest of the season to bring someone else in and Montreal receives Ryjo to get through the rest of this season and who knows? Maybe he revives a bit and gets them some kind of return at next years TDL at half retained. No need to trade Evans though as it would give Beck a season of playing top minutes in Laval and Evans could step up into Ryjo’s spot when he is dealt at next year’s TDL.

Two 2nds and a half decent prospect is more than fair IMO, but having to take Holl back which I understand is necessary due to cap restrictions, would most likely kill this deal.

Harris is worth a late second max. I think adding a high second or late first or replacing Harris with Xhekaj could do it</div></div>
We differ in reasoning in a couple aspects here as I believe Newhook had a bit more value when dealt because he played top 9 with the Avs and had/still has a good 200 foot game while Holtz’s entire reason for not getting minutes in NJ is his complete lack of a defensive game. Also I believe Allen half retained does hold some value, not a lot but some. With that being said I would not be opposed to adding a 2nd rounder from 2025 to get this deal done.
Pitty’s 2nd btw.

Not saying you haven’t offered decent value, I just don’t see much reason to move Evans at this point. What he would bring in a trade doesn’t match the value he currently brings to the team.
