Worst Contracts team

You can argue Zucc's contract could be viewed as a problem for the Wild since they could probably afford to keep Fiala who is younger and produced more points if they traded Zucc, but in no way shape or form is his contract bad.</div></div>
oh yeah 100% . i remember whe thei signed zucc i was really wondering what the hell the wild was doing. but he developped such great chemistry with kaprizov its now a bargain contract. the wild future qould be so bright witouth the paraise and suter buyout. no one would even say anything about zucc contract.

Minnesota makes even more sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyman1208</b></div><div>Guerin likely won’t have any other option to bridge Boldy, regardless of what happens with Fiala. Will Boldy get more money on his long term deal after a 2 year bridge deal? Yes. By that time we’re out of the cap crunch, though, and the NHL cap ceiling will be higher by that time too.</div></div>
I mean, I guess we will see what happens. I just don’t know if I would want to bridge a guy like Boldy. Then again, it would be hard to sign him for an expensive contract after just one season. I personally would be scared to bridge him, especially if he gets better and demands a lot like Kaprizov did, but I see why you would. You have a lot of money in buyouts. Waiting for them to go down would be awesome!
Thank you for not being ignorant just because we have a different opinion! I hope we can talk more another time, have a good one!

I’ve stopped making ACGMs with Fiala for that reason. The last Mercer + top-10 pick ask was nuts.
I once made the mistake of making a Laine ACGM and the ask was Jack Hughes ++. Haven’t touched him since.

Zacha *is* a center. Just not a top 6 one. He can be a top 6 W though, as he's proven playing with Bratt and Nico.
Is your criteria for prospects "MUST MAKE THE WILD IMMEDIATELY" because brother I have some bad news for you about how much you're gonna like the trade for Fiala when it happens.

They are allowed to change it year to year. Here's a quote from Russo immediately after the Staal trade in 2020:
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Russo</b></div><div>The day before, Staal was on the golf course, finished playing 18 holes with a few teammates and sprinted home to get on the phone with his agent so he could rework his annual 10-team no-trade list in time for Tuesday’s league deadline.
When Staal ultimately submitted his list, the Buffalo Sabres weren’t on it.
Twenty-four hours later, Staal was on the Sabres.</div></div>

Exactly. Fitting that he goes back to the GM who signed him to that contract. A decent move by the Wild giving him a chance to get back into the NHL.

Easiest trade ever for him, he made McBain's advisors go out and find him the best deal. lol</div></div>
Thanks for the additional info! Yea, if McBain has already said he'll sign with Arizona this makes complete sense and is well worth the 2nd round pick. You're getting a former 3rd rounder with 4 years of development in college that they apparently think highly of.

Agree 100%, I still don't view us as a legitimate contender. Now if we somehow found a way to acquire Miller without moving a good roster player (like Fiala), that's a different story... But I don't see us doing that.

Yeah, I'm really excited about that trade - more so than the Fleury deal. Middleton seems like the exact type of player we needed on our blue line.

I imagine at this point fiala is gonzo in the offseason and the wild look to extend fleury 2 years for about 2.5-3m. Then after next season talbot is gone and there’s a year of wallstedt and fleury before wallstedt takes the net over.

I would think MAF talked to BG about the desire to play another year so probably 2-3 million for next season maybe?

a player that was a 3rd round pick years ago ...

is worth a 2nd round pick for the upcoming draft.
The kool-aid they are drinking must be delicious :tearsofjoy</div></div>
i really don't understand this reasoning. some players improve others dont. i dont see why a player couldnt improve to be worth a 2nd round pick.

Asking price is apparently a 1st, top prospect, and a young NHL player. From us that probably looks like a 1st, Lambos or Addison, and maybe Dewar. Sounds like Fiala is all but gone so we probably keep Dumba.

Edit: My guess is Guerin set the TDL as a deadline for McBain's advisor to find a team willing to trade for his rights because he'd want the asset gained from that trade to be used to go out and get a player to help the team now.</div></div>
Nice good find, that spells out it pretty nicely.
And yeah, that’s a good point on the TDL deadline for McBain. Im hoping he gets moved before, just so we can see the value……it’ll also be nice to not see 100 comments saying he’s worthless and can force UFA.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>The issue for McBain with Minnesota is (supposedly) he doesn't see a path to being a NHL center next season there with Hartman, Erickson Ek, Gaudreau, and Rossi (and now Jost in the mix) all likely taking center roles next season. I'm not sure if his expectation is to be given a chance to win a job or if he's literally expecting to be handed a spot. I say that because it's worth mentioning Guerin wants guys to earn their spot coming from the AHL so that might be more of the problem with Minnesota for McBain if he's basically guaranteed to start in Iowa next year. From what you're saying, it sounds like at a minimum he might have a shot at winning a spot in training camp.</div></div>
That's just it. I don't think he realisticly has a shot. Strome, Toews, TJ, Lafferty and the Ice Hogs #1C is Reichel and Dach isn't a guaranteed winger either.
You and I are saying the same thing. McBain will have to accept that he'll likely be in the AHL for 2 years before he gets a shot. Borgstrom plays wing for CHI.
