Just tied 11.25 up in Pasta! But youre right. Not sure what they do after this season other than rebuild but they have probably one of the best top 6 in the league in this scenario. Might be what it takes for a cup.

Taylor Hall and Nick Schmaltz
Bruins can clear $5-6 million by buying out/trading Reilly & Forbort. They can trade Ullmark (who should win the Vezina) whose a $5 million hit. DeBrusk is a pending UFA and a $r million hit.
The Bruins don't have to give Hall away for free, they have ways to clear cap.

I just can't see him getting traded. He's making far less than he should this year and is a big piece in all facets of the Bruins' game.
Bruins would be interested in Holtz/Mercer, but Devils aren't giving them up so I dont see them being a good partners

Boston doesn't remotely consider it. Hall for Yegor is meh but ok. That would leave 2nd + Nico for Swayman which isn't going to interest Boston at all.

would not be totally against that either, Boqvist and Bean could be appealing, maybe not straight for Coyle tho</div></div>
Sweeney said at the end of the year press conference that changes are coming and the Bruins team is not going to be the same. Which is why five starters are gone and more younger players are now on the team. That was my thought process behind this ACGM.

Columbus would be interested in that Coyle trade and could offer better defensemen. You could probably pick two of Boqvist, Peeke, Bean and Blankenburg.

You have to be able to get more for Swayman.
CHI is a good destination for Reilly. I love how he’s being bounced around the league after using the college loophole to shaft CBJ and sign with his hometown team.
What goes around is all around.

Bruins have limited cap space and draft picks, we aren't spending a 3rd on a 5 mil defenseman that doesn't play defense.

No interest in Madden or Thomas. Would rather take a flyer on a prospect who’s underperformed like Kupari or pursue an option that doesn’t bring salary back if the prospect / pick combination is underwhelming.
While Boston lacks star talent in the farm system, Madden or Thomas or both don’t really stand out at all against other options already in the system. A 5th has nominal value. That’s a comfortable pass.

That Boston trade doesn't fill any of their needs. If they're getting rid of Swayman (which isn't happening) as well as Hall, they'll want a NHL ready center. Or at least someone who can play center.

Most of that 8-10 will come from Reilly, Forbort, Grizz. But then they have to rebuild/reinvest in the bottom half of the D. So that means 1 of Ullmark/Hall/Debrusk/Swayman would have to be moved just to accomplish the cap cleanse. Moving those pieces out while taking 8m of a bad long term contract back makes life difficult.
Impossible, no. Problematic yes. He’s not the guy to dismantle the team for</div></div>
That's fair. Out of curiosity, what is the solution for the Bruins? Is there a way for them to solve their centre issues in your view

Short term - convince Bergy to return, long term - probably not.
Get lucky with a pick or prospect. Zacha take another step. Be in good enough cap situation next year to go after Aho in free agency. 🤷🏻♂️

Moving Miller
Bruins don’t want Miller. I wouldn’t do this for just Hall never mind Sway and a 1st. I prefer Zacha and Coyle as top two centers rather than trading for Miller who is over 30 and on a bad long term contract. Vancouver is stuck with that. Bruins have interest in Pederson though if Van can’t sign him.
I like Garland despite his size. If Vancouver retains about $1 million on his deal, I’d consider that move with Vancouver. He’d fill a hole in the third line. If Bruins can’t keep Bertuzzi or find a winger with size they’d look at teams that might need to sell off a contract on the cheap. This assumes we can move out money from Forbort, Gryz and maybe Hall.

Maybe the 4th could be a 3rd. But holtz hasn’t played much or produced at at the nhl level. Jake has. Aren’t the devils looking to win now? I’d say JD is a huge upgrade on holtz right now. Obviously holtz has future upside, which Boston needs. So yep I think it’s a decent trade!

He could very well be traded this off-season because they need cap space, especially if Bouchard will only sign long term.
& come on, let’s not pretend like RNH is a legit 100 point player. He’s a PP guy that highly benefited from imagined with McDavid and Draisatil on the PP. Without that, he’s a 60 point player at best

Next Year RNH
I don’t think this makes much sense from the Oilers side. Value wise you’ve definitely overpaid, but RNH to Hall is a lateral move as it’s literally just swapping 2nd line LWers. But RNH kills penalties and is well liked in the locker room. If he’s moved it’ll be for an upgrade somewhere else, or to make some cap space for another move. This trade just adds cap space for them and doesn’t really make them any better.
It’s a good idea in theory, just too much of a lateral move

Both of those are very weak for the other teams, probably missing a 1st for Koneckny and a 2nd for Debrusk, and its probably still run of the mill market value = not enough for the other team to do it.

You'd probably be closer in value if you swapped the packages around here, but I think both teams decline. Not enough for either player
