'Hischier faces better comp.' Are you kidding me? EP40 is a first line player. He is significantly more advanced in ability and confidence.
EP40 is one of the best two-way players in the league.</div></div>
One of the best two way players in the league wouldnt have a 2.278 xGA/60. Hischier statistically plays against tougher comp (93 percentile compared to EP40's comp which is in the 50th percentile) and most importantly Hischier has a 2.829 xGF/60 (98th percentile) vs EP40's 2.095 xGF/60 (39th percentile). EP40 is shooting 26% with a 103.4 PDO, neither of those numbers are sustainable. Saying more advanced in confidence is a poor comparison tool, GWGs are a totally cherry picked stat used to make Pettersson looks better, he's tied in 3rd with 5 GWG.

More goals

Higher Shooting%
Higher Avg TOI

Lower FO%
Stats don't tell the whole story, however. Hischier plays on a team that made the playoffs last year with very little turnover, while Pettersson plays on a team that was in the basement and lost it's 2nd and 3rd best players in the off-season without any top level reinforcements (besides the one player we're discussing).</div></div>
higher sh% isnt something you would list as a pro, 25% is unsustainable. +/- is a garbage stat. More AOTI doesnt matter when Hischier faces better comp. Hischier was a .68 takeaway/game his rookie year and Pettersson is at a .51 takeaway/game right now. Hischier has a much higher xGF, ixGF, and cf%

And you still think that he is worth $250K less than what he is making now?
And you are telling me that you are glad I am not the GM. My God, who in their right mind would give Eberle more than $3M is crazy.</div></div>
Consistent 20+ goal scorer, 50+ point guy. Charts show he's great at generating scoring chances and driving play.

Fair point. I still think where he needs to improve is his shot. The skating looks really good to me but only a few guys that are elite offensive players get away with having an ok shot. I think of guys like Gaudreau, McDavid, Marner, etc. who obviously have other weapons that make their shot sneaky/effective. If he's not going to be as difficult to defend as those guys (like you're saying), he will need a better shot than what I've seen.

If you watch him play he loves to gain straight line speed through the NZ and overwhelm his opposition, hes really not that shifty or agile and when he tries to change directions and pivot he struggles. His avoidence comes from building up momentum and just going right past guys. He is very fast in a straight line but stuggles to pivot and cut.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksFanForLife</b></div><div>I'm saying Hughes, though Kakko is definitely more ready for the NHL. Look at the bottom teams. Here's a look at the bottom ten teams and who they'd choose. Colorado (Ottawa) would probably take Kakko. They would rather immediate scoring over long term scoring as they aren't rebuilding. Philadelphia takes Kakko all day. They need a Voracek/Simmonds replacement and they are a more physical team. Plus, Patrick needs room to grow. LA takes Hughes. Luff, Brown, Toffoli, and Kovalchuk have the roster spots right now and Kakko wouldn't be able to get a top six role. Plus they just started a rebuild and Hughes should take Carter's role down the road. Vilardi-Hughes-Kopitar is a pretty good 1-2-3 punch. St. Louis takes Hughes IMO but it's debatable. Kyrou, Tarasenko, Bokk, and Kostin is better than O'Reilly, Thomas, Bozak, and Barbashev. St. Louis has zero good center prospects behind Thomas. Detroit takes Kakko. They have nobody behind Mantha for RW. Chicago takes Hughes. They're stacked on the wings and Strome isn't an ideal 2C yet. NJ is a mystery as they have no solid RW prospect but zero high A C prospect. I still think they take Kakko. Arizona takes Hughes. They have no legit centers IMO though they have a lot of talent up the middle. Neither player is ideal for Arizona, they need a LW or D prospect. NYR takes Kakko. They've got a ton of talent up the middle. Vancouver takes Hughes. I'd rather see Pettersson on the wing and Hughes could play LW too. Kakko could be good too, but the pull of Quinton is too much. It's split down the middle, but since Chicago and LA should have the highest chance of drafting first as Ottawa is slumping and should bounce back and Philly should rebound with Hart, I'm giving this to Hughes. It's too even to be dogmatic, but it really depends on who wins the lottery.</div></div>

I'd take Kakko but not because of the ****ty WJC sample size. Hughes should've played in Europe to increase his chances of going #1 IMO. At this point in time the safe bet is Kakko cause he produces against men

Absolutely. Montreal has developed a decent prospect pool, and now they get to reap the benefits. Drouin-Domi-Suzuki, Tatar-Danault-Gallagher, Lehkonen-Kotkaniemi-Evans, and Byron-Shaw-Armia as your lines next year is insanely deep. That is four line of players who all have the ability to hit 40 points. A bounce back season from Price and you have a playoff lock, and possibly a cup contender.
