Debrincat got a 1st 2nd and 3rd. He's a 40 goal scorer that is still an RFA. Senko will be a UFA in the summer. I hope I'm wrong.

You really wouldn't trade a first and 3rd for Tarasenko who probably signs an extension and is coming off a career year? That seems pretty fair if not great value for Isles...

For a 1st round pick in a stacked draft that could be a lottery pick... it's enough

Fair enough. With signing Gaudreau, I see them as a team that might want to add some quality proven pieces and to me, there D is pretty weak (especially the right side). And I see them vying for a potential Wild Card spot.
Having a left side of Werenski, Krug, and Gavrikov would make up for the deficient right side.
What do you think of the trade value tho? I think it's just about right.

Ya I don't see Doug signing Leddy. I don't see him signing many players at all, which is my point. Next year is much more important because you have to sign Thomas, Kyrou, and O'Reilly.
Save cap space this year and if you're not in contention for the cup gain assets for things you aren't going to have next year (Tarasenko, Barbashev?)

To say it's not an option is just naive. Since the Ryan Miller trade, Doug does not like to overpay for assets. What if there just aren't any trades or Free agents out there that Doug likes?
He goes into the season with just about the same roster minus perron and leddy.
With perron gone, the powerplay could regress, a lot...
We were rather fortunate with injuries last season, what if thomas or binnington gets hurt?
What if we're just outside the playoffs come deadline?
Tarasenko and others will be traded. Doug will not go all in on this team.
What I'm suggesting is not super unlikely stuff.
But to say it's not an option is just naive...

I think Doug of all people knows what he is doing. If he can't make his team team better with significant moves this offseason (Chychrun or Thachuk), why not punt this year, trade tarasenko at the deadline, and get a stud or 2 in the draft and sign Matthew Tkachuk as a free agent.
If you can't get chuchrun or provorov, does brining leddy back really make you a better team than last year? no

I am not a fan of perron leaving, just like everyone else, but this is a middling team at best.
This has nothing to do with how you put this team together. I would have the forward lines a little different but that's about it.
If this is the team Doug rolls with, I would expect to be a bubble team and to trade tarasenko at the deadline. Retaining 50% of his cap and with lots of demand, his value will likely be higher than it is now.
As a blues fan, I expect to be in the playoffs. But out of any year to miss, this would be by far the best time to do it. Bedard and Michkov are absolute game changers. It sucks that teams can only move up 10 spots now.

2022 Offseason Post Draft
Honestly, not a bad trade. Next year's draft is deep but that pick will probably be in the late 20's.
I would say that instead of the second, add Heimosalmi and a late round pick (4th or 5th round)
If I'm the blues, I insist there be no restrictions on the first rounder.

Malkins Blues
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEarthmaster</b></div><div>I don't get why the Blues are being linked to Malkin. We don't need another top six center, especially one whose age attaches quite a bit of risk to any long term contract. Not to mention that he already is showing wear and tear- he has played about half the season the last three years, and the last time he played the full 82 the Los Angeles Kings had not won a Stanley Cup. Good player but I don't think the fit is right, especially at that term. And especially not if it prevents Thomas from being a full time center.</div></div>
Just thought it would be fun. Malkin is one of my favorite players

Isles could get a 1st for Mayfield at the next deadline if they really wanted to. The only way I see him going is in a deal for a big improvement in the top-6 forward group</div></div>
Kostin is top 6 ready (okay maybe more middle 6 with top 6 upside but he could play 2nd line rn). He plays a heavy game too which is at least how the Isles played with trotz... I figured y'all would want a guy that can play right away and has upside vs a late 1st round pick that you would have to wait on for a few years.
I think he would fit perfectly in Parise's spot or move LEE up and put Kostin with JG Pageau
https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/new-york-islanders/line-combinations/
but you're probably expecting wahlstrom to take that spot eventually so I get it, Kostin might not be ideal

Eh don't be too shy. Ya he's slow and old but the dude works hard. I mean I'm sure we all wanted to go get jagr when he was 40. He brings experience, we can get him at half of league minimum, and the dude would completely empty his tank in the playoffs. Just imagine him and Parayko in front of the net. Oh and he costs you next to nothing.
