That's a Smith to Chicago trade the Hawks accept.
No GM is paying the Pens anything for Rakell without retention.
Utah declines. They aren't trading away established NHL players for more futures in their inaugural season in a new market. They'll want to ice the best possible team they can.

KHL salaries are not as high as you think, the best KHL players make pennies compared to the best NHL players

Realistic Roster
Demidov is great, my thought process was to draft the elite RHD this year as we are bare in that department as well, and then draft an elite forward next year in a forward heavy draft.

Other than Leshevnov, this does seem pretty realistic. I agree w/ Jeep. Leshevnov goes back to college for a 2nd season if Hawks draft him. But I also think Demidov is the better choice. Not sure Turbo takes a 3 year deal unless Hawks up the salary quite a bit, which they could obviously do. Pretty solid job on this!

Your thoughts are solid.
Levshunov if drafted by the blackhawks is not ready for the NHL and will be going back to college. I believe they need to take Demidov there in my opinion. We don't have another elite top line forward prospect.
We need a veteran RHD but i dont think its Dumba.
Teuvo is going to want more than 3 years, i just dont think he is a fit.

So trading one pick to get multiple picks to pick more than one prospect cus the Sabres have enough prospects? Okay

Your takes on next season seem spot on. No disagreement from me. I'd pass on Mete and Blackwell. Think Hawks can get better players than them. I put Blackwell in the same boat as Reese and Macker. I'm over all of them.

I'm fine with Debrusk, or any mid 6 forward in that range really. I think Stephenson gets more money froma. contender, probably won't be in our price range and that is okay. Nazar and EDM will get NHL time, maybe full time if they earn it but probably a split between both so they can fill up those games. Agree with signing a Vet RD, although I don't think we need Mete. I would just resign phillips. I agree that we should move on from Reece Johnson but I do still think Macker has a place here. I think Nazar can take the Stephenson spot and Kaiser/EDM can split NHL time next year. Overall I like more of the ideas here though. I wouldn't quite go as far as being .500 next year but I expect some natural improvement for sure. Love Demidov at 2, but hawks need to be bad enough to secure one last high lotto pick imo.

I remember he was drafted and every time they had one of those prospects articles he was always tearing it up and he’s been my boy ever since. I think he probably came to NHL 1-2 years early. Glad he’s developing but yeah let’s not kid ourselves, he’s not an offensive threat. He’s a 3rd liner probably at best.</div></div>
Well, I like him a lot too, and being able to hang in a 1st line role with elite players is no small feat. But if him and his agent want to be paid like he, himself, is elite, I could see that being a problem for Davidson's cap structure.

Oh come on... A year ago you were ready to trade him for nothing, just like everyone else. haha. The chemistry he has shown with Bedard is undeniable and awesome. But, without someone elite on a line with him, he has also proven to be pretty ineffective. So, if some team comes knocking with a big offer that addresses needs, I think KD would at least consider it. I doubt anyone is untouchable, aside from the obvious few.

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>Two years left on a contract and after retention about $4M in salary? Kyle Davidson is salivating!!!</div></div>
Yeah I know. But the Hawks do need another middle 6 C for next season. AA isn't the guy. After they re-sign Vlasic and Reichel and whatever other RFA's get signed, Hawks still need to spend another 6 to 8 million to hit the cap floor. Some of that gets spent on another vet RD. But the rest is probably on a free agent C. So sign a free agent for $4m or take on JGP and get a couple of picks out of it. Top 6 looks something like this:
Hall/Bedard/Kurashev
Reichel/Pageau/AA
Or Dickinson as the 2C and Pageau as the 3C. It's not like JGP is a useless player. Good at the dot, kills penalties. He's still a capable NHL center - just overpaid. I could be totally off here but it just seems like a good fit.
Unless of course the Hawks land Celebrini!

You're being very optimistic with those cap dumps. JGP costs atleast a 2nd. Retention does nothing for Chicago.

Awesome to see Lardis get a contract, easily one of the bigger steals in the 2023 draft. Getting him in the 3rd round was real nice, this is great for the Hawks!

Chicago 24-25
-If CHI goes out and signs a guy like Roy, it will be for him to play with Korchinski. I highly doubt they sign a UFA LD unless it is just another Megna/Tinordi #7 type of guy.
-I think Celebrini and Reichel would be a great match for chemistry, and I'd be lookin to put them on the 2nd or 3rd line together.
-Kurashev likely stays on Bedsy's wing for next season. Their chemistry has been fantastic. Though, I would personally prefer to not base his next contract off of riding Bedard's coat tails. Because, as we saw with Bedard's injury this season, Kurashev was not producing without him.
-Taylor Hall will be back next season, not on LTIR. I like the Marchessault signing. I doubt Stamkos would sign with CHI.
-Vlasic is getting a lot more than that in his next contract. I could see it being up to $6M on the high end with term, and as low as $2.5-3M on the low end as a bridge deal.
-Moore and Rinzel are almost certainly playing another year in College, at the very least.
-Nazar likely plays at least a year in the AHL. But there is a decent chance he earns himself an NHL roster spot in camp.
