Next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>That’s too much. We’ve gotta be real here, it’s been years since Gibby definitively outplayed his own ANA net-front counterpart (I recognize there’s more to that story, but still), and he’s expensive at $6.4M. I’d assume one of those level assets should be enough, but taking back a $5M bad goalie should help to elevate the return (which we can gladly do since we have no cap issues next year and he expires after that)
PHI would be nice for the Pennsylvania native as well</div></div>
I'll admit it -- I'm a Gibson homer.

Certainly not a 5 million dollar AHL goalie.
We wouldn't take that deal if you dropped Gibson.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>I’ll be honest, the more I think about this the more I’m into it. Zegras doesn’t make sense as a 3C. Even if he works on his defensive game, he’ll always be offense first and not someone who should start their shifts in the dzone. Gauthier is likely a LW for us and also deserving of a better ceiling than 3C behind Leo and McT. That leaves Gaucher who disappointed this year and looks like he needs at least a year if not more, and may end up topping out on the 4th line. A Vatrano - Colton - Killorn 3rd line could start like 60% of their shifts in the dzone and play solid defense but also still contribute some pretty solid production</div></div>
If we going to bring in an upgrade at 3C, then we should send cheaper roster players the other way.
A big reason Colorado would look to do this is for cap relief, and they are still in compete mode. Lundestrom or Groulx and a long shot NHLer like Helleson makes more sense I think.

2024-25 DET Realistic Wish
Absolutely no reason whatsoever for us to downgrade from massive hitter, fan favorite, locker-room favorite and coaches' favorite Radko Gudas to Justin Holl just to get a fourth pick in the third round of the 2024 draft.

You’re on one right now with these terrible Anaheim trades!
Why on earth would we want to play JK nearly $5,000,000??? We have so many more centered we’d rather pay, that we already have, that are the same age or younger but mostly younger
Gudas is basically untouchable as he has exceeded our expectations
Verbeek made it clear that he needed a haul to move Vatrano at the deadline, why would he completely ignore that now??

Madness
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I agree. Out of curiosity, is Helleson better than Luneau and/or Warren?
Like McTavish, Raymond isn't anywhere.</div></div>
I'm heavily suspecting that since several other D-men have skipped Helleson to come up and play on the roster on their off hand that Helleson is a tweener at this point. It's kind of hard to know without watching a lot of gulls games and I don't have the time for that, but what I can say is this.
Anaheim has had 12 different defenseman on the roster throughout this season
Drysdale (traded out)
Fowler
Gudas
Haag
LaCombe
Laggeson (claimed)
Lindstrom (claimed)
Luneau (JR call up)
Lyubushkin (traded out)
Mintyukov
Vaakainen
Zellweger (AHL call up)
We've claimed or called up a fair few guys, if Helleson was going to make the jump, I think he would have. It appears Lindstrom works here, so I think Helleson isn't going to see the Ducks main roster, and I'd use him as trade bait at this point, as there's still a fair few younger D in Anaheims pipeline likely ot leap frog him.
But, he has another year of waivers protection and is only 22, he might still do something.
Warren seems to be suffering some developmental setbacks too, but we'll see how that turns out.

If Montreal is still at pick number 5
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>How has nobody commented on what a huge overpayment that’d be to move up a few spots? And I’m an ANA fan.
I imagine it’d be tough to say no to that value even though ANA very likely misses out on who we all seem to think is ‘their guy’ in Levshunov at 5OA</div></div>
I definitely did try to make sure ithe trade proposal would be enough for Montreal to move up.
It is interesting to me that some Ducks fans seemed to be focused on getting a forward (Demidov or Libdstrom) while you think they should go after Levshunov at #3.
Personalty I think that either way Anaheim could get very close to what it wants, as I think Anaheim could get Parekh or Yakemchuk at 5 if (when) Levshunov is gone or they could get Catton at 5 If Lindstrom or Demidov are gone.
Obviously if that line of thinking applies to Anaheim at #5 one might think it should generally apply to Montreal at number 5 too, but I just think that Anaheim ihas slightly more leeway to go for a forward or a defenceman with their early pick, while I think Montreal clearly needs the best forward they can get.
We will see what happens.
Thanks for your input.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>Can’t speak to WAS’s needs, but ANA has only Gudas signed beyond this season at RHD. That said I’d love to see them get someone who can reliably play on their top pair like Pesce/Roy. If they swing and miss in FA, I could totally see them considering this (admittedly I haven’t watched Jensen much lately)</div></div>
Jensen had a bad start to the season, was pretty decent for like a month and a half this winter, and now he’s looked like garbage again. He had an amazing season last year and has been pretty solid since the 2021 season, but something is really off this year for him. Possibly age catching up with him.
I’d be intrigued by a Ryan Strome add and I wouldn’t be upset with this trade as is, but I just think the caps should aim higher is all.

But we wouldn’t be talking to Anaheim because they aren’t trading either of their two young centers for that package. McTavish and Carlsson should be off limits.
