byram could be expendable for the avs and 8th overall pick is a nice piece, but adding just a 2nd and 4th doesn't add much value. there is a talent drop off and the avs would have to wait another year to get a player in their system.</div></div>
What about adding Mete???

Faulk's extension was bad on day 1. I doubt any GM would buy out a contract he gave out before it starts so we can rule out this actually happening, but it doesn't mean it's not the correct move.</div></div>
I see your point but if your willing to loose your captain just to keep a certain pride then i don’t see why he can be a GM. I don’t think Faulk would ever be better than Pietrangelo so i don’t see why he shouldn’t take the risk of CBO him

Trade with Ott MTL and SJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PLDGEY</b></div><div>Were not overvaluing the players, were having a realistic view of what our team looks like moving forward. Sergachev is amazing, but hes another top 4 LHD. We already have 2.
"Oh he can play on the right hand side"... We'll Brannstrom can as well, on top of the fact that we already have 2 1st round RHD in our system.
Cirelli is amazing, but we already have a metric ****ton of C depth (Brown, Nossi, Pinto + Byfield/Rossi/Perfetti)
Basically both players are great, but the picks are also amazing. With a price that high, and the fit not *perfect* Ottawa does not have a reason to make those trades. Will Cirelli and Sergachev fix this team instantly? No. Then keep faith in the process. We have just started the rebuild.
Id rather just offer sheet one of them</div></div>
You still have OTT 1st round pick to go for a Top 5 pick with Byfield Rossi Perfetti or even Lafreniere ... Ottawa is still rebuilding but they can be a pretty good team for next year with Tkachuk Chabot Sergachev Cirelli.....
Tampa in the other hand can go also with a Top 5 pick Jamie Drysdale. Hendrix Lapierre can be drafted as a high risk high reward..... at the same time they save cap space for now.
Gourde and Johnson are traded to make cap space for Pietrangelo if he isn’t signed they can sign a cheeper RD who will unfortunately not be as good as Pietrangelo.....

Sergachev can play RHD . Anthony Cirelli is a young 2nd line center. Ottawa uses their pick to draft Quiton Byfield as their 1st Center. They also need to reach minimum cap space rather then getting bad contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Aren't these trades so massively one sided? Devils and Wings have lots of cap to retain their bad contracts. Steen has NTC. Wild ain't trading likely a top 10 pick for 3rd liners.</div></div>
Steen will get payed 100% of his money. He will never play for MTL. He can go back to STL but for the minimum salary. The Devils and Wings trade i can agree but they can also trade to get better players with high contract. Gourde is an example 5.16M$ for the next 5 year. Tampa could trade him to Detroit for a pick because they need cap space to resign Cirelli and Sergachev.

Armia goes free agent and Byron goes to Seattle that’s 6M$ free. Trade Chiarot for picks that makes it 9.5M$ free. CAP space rises every year. KK won’t take much in his bridge deal unless he plays really well next year. Same goes with Poehling. if Bergevin( or the new GM) feel they are really restricted in cap space they send Gallagher to UFA

If NSH doesn’t want cap back good luck no one will trade with them (Maybe Ott but we know the owner will refuse that trade)
For the hawks teams will try the to lower the value bcz hawks doesn’t have cap space for next year and need to trade him or lose him for nothing.....

If the Habs don't trade Lindgren then FLO gets him off waivers, since he'll have to pass through to go to Laval.
Peca and Weise get placed on waivers and Peca gets picked up by OTT. (hometown boy)
Too many picks exchanged both ways for pool boy but the Honks trade is ok, IMO.</div></div>
I Think the most important thing IMO for MTL is having a good roster for people to come watch in the Bell Center for 41 games not 1 draft night. Bergevin (or whoever is there next summer) can easily switch drafts with GM for late picks (ex:MTL trade 2021 5th round pick for a 2020 5th round pick) to make the event fun for habs fan........

I don’t see where we losing value except for the offer sheet. We have to overpay to bring players. Duchene Gardiner are the best exemple. Wanted to play here but prefered other destinations. MTL was for them like:”if we don’t get something similar to your offer we are signing with you MTL”. Spending money on young talent is not that bad. I would be more afraid if we had made that offer to Duchene....

MTL will have 10.8M$ cap space that is without increasing cap space or trading either Petry Danault Tatar (the 1st 2 have more chance of leaving bcz MTL have a replacement for them)
