Good deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Yes, points are the only thing that matters. :sarcasm
And how does Monahan get those points? By playing PP1 time and first line time at over 18 minutes on a bad team. Minutes and PP time that he isn't going to get on a playoff team, so there go his points.
Monahan is bad 5 on 5, bad defensively, slow, a poor skater and extremely injury prone.
He isn't good enough to replace anyone in Winnipeg's top 6 and is too bad defensively to replace anyone in the bottom 6. He has no value to Winnipeg.
Monahan is the perfect center for a bad team. He can put up empty points because he doesn't drive play and the team doesn't care that he is awful defensively and costs them just as many goals.</div></div>
You better write a stern letter to Cheveldayoff

Montreal already owns the 2024 2nd. There is no 2024 3rd or 2025 2nd.
Outside if that, I truly hate this setup. Avs get upset in Round 1, and Montreal gets a bag of pucks vs what they could fetch otherwise.
Edmonton, Vancouver or Winnipeg could all very well beat the Avs 2nd round .

Big 3 Way Trade
This is not a 3 way trade
Habs send the 2024 2nd to the Duck
Jets send Lambert to the Ducks
Habs send a 2025 2nd to the Jets
Habs send Struble to the Ducks
Just my suggestion
Habs - IN Zegras - OUT Monahan Stuble 2024 2nd 2025 2nd
Ducks - IN Lambert Struble 2024 1st (jets) 2024 2nd (Habs) OUT Zegras
JETS - IN Monahan 2025 2nd (Habs) - OUT 2024 1st Lambert

Rangers land Monahan
As a Habs fan, I would accept either piece for this trade.
I know the Linholm trade changed some dynamics in the market, but I think Vancouver was paying up to get the guy they wanted, and that is the reason he went to a divisional rival versus elsewhere in the league - nobody else way paying up.

Hanifin to DET
All that work Hughes did to move Petry back to one of his preferred market (likely his most preferred market) just to end up getting traded to a non-playoff team within the same season.
I am willing to bet Calgary is on his list of 15 teams not to be traded to.

I don’t mind the 2026 1st considering it’s likely traded my Montreal later on anyway. Hughes has been stock pilling picks for later draft in order to acquire a star at some point.</div></div>
I just added Heinen to make the salary get approved (I selfishly added because it is an expiring contract, and just wanted to flip him for a 3rd or 4th)

Why would Anaheim want Monahan?
Why would Montreal want a 4th line winger, and a 50/50 4th line/press box winger
Henrique, even with 25% retained would fetch less than Monahan on the trade market right now.
Montreal could simply trade Monahan for actual pieces, and if necessary trade Wifi for more pieces than end up with this bag of pucks and whatever Henrique would fetch.
Also, the Anaheim fans are going to plaster you when they see what they get back for Zegras.

Yes from Montreal. I was wondering if Buffalo was already bolstered up on LD, but they seem to have more depth on the RD. Add the Avs 2nd from Montreal to get this accross the line, maybe more?

Not a realistic trade. I was trying to make that clear in both the trade name, and the poll. Of all the trades that happen, 2/3 are snooze fests. Hoping for some real trade drama leading up to March 8 - just hope the Habs do not get burned at all.

Mix things up
well this created some chatter. When I said mix things up, that is not what I really meant.
I urge all the anti-Struble comment makers to actually watch him - he would truly be an upgrade for Van over Ian Cole (who is a negative asset). I feel there will not be room on the Habs' left-side for both Struble and Wifi, and it has been reported that Wifi is not on the trade board. With Stuble comes stabilty and predictability in ownership of his contacts, and Ian Cole is negative asset.
Monahan is likely worth a late first plus a B prospect.
Ian Cole needs a 4th or 5th to dump (which makes room for Monahan)
Stuble plus a 2nd is equal to Lekkerimäki - give or take
So argue away, but the value is pretty well lined up - only thing I might change is some retention on Monahan contract.
