<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>Out of all the media outlets around Ottawa is one I personally have the least trust in. Personally I think it’s very obvious and wrong that the media there seems to go well out of its way to turn fans against ownership there because of a grudge. I actually side with ownership on that one they use to be one of the only teams that would allow media to join the team on road trips but they kept releasing every bad storyline until ownership finally put an end to that and ever since I feel they only got worse. I think it’s very unfortunate a local media outlet would act as they do not sure what goal is at the end of the day try to force selling of the team but if that happens VERY much risking loosing the team altogether. I wish for the good of the team there fans would boycott the citizen.</div></div>

It wasn't just the Citizen's report that changed my opinion. Here are the facts that changed my view:

1. The Karlsson's aplied for but never filed the protection order.
2. The Hoffman's investigations proved that the threats did not originate from their UP address.
3. None of the Senators, NHL or NHLPA found enough evidence to launch an investigation into the matter.
4. The Hoffman's have requested all evidence from the Karlsson's showing where Mrs. Hoffman was responsible for the threats but the Karlsson's have not produced such evidence. Again this does not mean that Mrs. Hoffman didn't send the threats it is just suspicious.
5. The fact that there have been no issues in Florida between Hoffman and any teammates.
6. The Ottawa Citizen's story.

My thought is that Hall would take a minimum of $8.5 million and 5 years to sign Hall, the long term ramifications of this would lead to Montreal making some choices. Domi, Tatar and Drouin would pretty much all be on the chopping block, Petry and Gallagher would also be at risk depending on Bergevins ability to shed contracts like Byron and Alzner.

And if you go deeper into contracts then Suzuki and Kotkaniemi have to be mentioned since thier contracts coming out of ELC may be even more interesting if Hall gets to play with one of them for a season and gets some chemistry. then you're looking at the same effect Tavares had to Marner in Toronto, Manrer wasnt a 10+ million dollar player before he put up 92 points on Tavares wing that one season. If the same thing happens, say Kotkaniemi all of a sudden puts up 65-70 points while centering Hall then his contract will jump up a couple million.

All of these factors add up and although I think it would be a positive to show that our team wants to compete it has to be done the right way. Bergevin would have to have a couple things happen to make sure it didnt gut the team:

Gallagher, Danuault and Petry sign extensions for MTL at team freindly deals. They all love MTL and think they would take a little cheaper deals.

Get positive trade value for Byron,

Tatar and Domi become expendable, this is because I think both are more trade able then Drouin. He has to goo youth on those deals and not take to much salary back

Hope the cap jumps up to around 85 million after the flat cap is done, this may happen with the expansion and gambling money coming in but wouldnt count on those large of increases yearly.

Those four things happen and the Habs can easily fit Hall along with the youngsters of Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, Romanov and Caufield.

Fist off, that Marleau trade was a glitch. Someone turned on the easy trade option on the PS4 and Pittsburgh played it well. I think GMs will stay away from those deals from now on.

Then, there's the whole question of &lt; Can Vlasic still play? &gt;... Honestly, I dunno. Haven't watched him enough in hte last year or so. The guy was known to be one of the NHL's most underrated players, because he never put up numbers. And yet, we continued to hear that he was one of the first guys that came up in discussions on who was the better defensive d-man in the game. YES, he's 33. YES, he's got a bad contract. But IF he can still play...

So back to the trade... Vlasic with 25% retained + a First has good value, IMO. Is Domi + Mete too much? Again, it all depends on the evaluation made of Vlasic's game. Domi and Mete both had HORRIFIC playoffs. That drives their value down.

I still think that Mtl need a scoring winger more than they need a shutdown 33-year old d-man. But I'm not the one making the trades! ;)</div></div>

The thing with Vlasic is his buy in. For example, in the 2018-19 playoffs, he and Burns were spectacular together because 1) Burns was focused in his own end and 2) Vlasic was locked in and playing hard. He has had a tendency the past few years to take nights off in the regular season and not truly grind it out like he used to. However, come playoff time when the games mean more and each shift counts he consistently is one of their best players.

He was never an ultra gifted skater or scorer, but he made his living with intelligence and stick play. Those traits don't just go away with age. He is vastly overpaid at $7 million a year imo, but at $2 mil of retention he probably has some value as a steady 2nd pair guy that can PK and play well in his own end.

Thread: Maximum Domi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Carlapin007</b></div><div>Sorry, I kinda replied randomly and not on that specific package. To be honest, I don't know the Rangers players that much. I know little about Rykov and Andersson, so I can't judge. But from what I've seen on Strome, I don't like the fit in MTL. We have KK and Suzuki at C for our top-6. And Danault is the perfect 3C. Would Strome play wing?

Buch is a nice player. I cannot tell if he generates offence on his own or if he only benefits from playing with dynamic players plike Panarin or Zibenedjad.

But I can see the value in this deal for the Habs. I'm sorry that I judged it too soon... See, Habs fans CAN be logical/humble... at times! ;)</div></div>

It's okay man, thanks for the comment! At the end of the day I'm not 100% sure on the Habs' needs either, and was seeing if a trade could be agreed upon by both sides.

Strome can play the wing as well, and could be decent to pair on the 2nd line maybe to take faceoffs if one of the younger centers struggles, etc.

I'd love to answer that on Buch, but at the end of the day I'm not exactly sure. He's a streaky forward... seems to play better when mad. When he's going, he looks good and makes chances himself. But even with Zibanejad and Panarin and Kreider, he can turn invisible. But, he is still young, and is consistently a half point per game player or better.

I know the Habs would probably benefit better from a defensemen, but I'd consider our "good" ones hopefully untouchable. So it's possible a trade can't be reached here. But again, the Rangers are over-flowing with good defensive prospects, and Rykov is one of them
