I'm not telling you that he's an elite player. Not even close. But I see him as a middle-6 one that can eventually even play in first line when injuries happen. When we look at FA right now, there're thin options to sign. That's why I see him as the better one.

I didn't think his offer was a big surprise at all. It's a prove it deal. Tatar is a bit different. He's more proven. Yes, I think $2-2.5M for him sounds about right. If he was good with $1M NY or NJ could handle that now. I think NJ would take him back at that price. He may be waiting for teams to finish up and clear space which will happen here very soon. Several others are in that same boat.</div></div>
Yeah, I think so. He's, by far, the best offensive option in FA right now and there're many teams that would like to have him. It's hard to predict where he will play, but of course I hope to see him playing in Pitt. We'll find out in few weeks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>InRodWeTrust</b></div><div>If Tatar can only manage $1M for 1 year that's very telling. Surely a dozen teams would have jumped on that already, yes?</div></div>
Maybe. But it's a different scenario at this point. Look at Dumba contract. Less than 4M. No one expected that in the beginning of FA. But, right now, most teams have much less cap space. If he want to get more money, he'll have to play for a non-contender. I don't think any contender will give him more than 2M or 2.5M at this point.

As I said, I won't doubt Dubas anymore after his magic in Karlsson's trade. And don't forget Tatar would play probably along Sid, until Guentzel come back. In a superstar team like that with Dubas as a GM, everything is on the table right now.

Bryson doesn't make the top 6, Verbeek would play LaCombe over him. Honestly wouldn't take Bryson in the trade.
I don't see Anaheim moving Gibson until next off-season at the absolute earliest. We need to seriously reinforce the defense this season to give him a fighting chance at showing people he is still an elite goalie so long as he's not asked to make 50+ saves a night.
Gibson would also make a great mentor for Dostal.</div></div>
You have a very good point here. It's hard to discuss with a Ducks fan that knows his team much better than I do. Thanks for your feedback.

He's just 21. To me, it's too early to bet on such young goalie. Gibson can be the answer for at least 2 or 3 years.

I prefer Hanifin defensively playing on the right side than Karlsson. Karlsson is a one-way player. Marvelous offensively, but an average player, at best, defensively. And both are the Pens options right now. That's why I prefer a younger and all-around player like Hanifin, even playing on the right side.

I've seen teams swallow contracts even worse than him many times. Specially Arizona. It's not the greatest idea in the world, but besides his contract, he could bring some quality and much needed experience to Arizona D. In one of the worst case scenarios, they could trade him 50% retaining at TD and get another pick. I can't see any other team that could make this work but Arizona.

"Some picks" it's too much. Petry is not useless d-man. Not at all. He was one of the most consistent d-man in our terrible D last season. He was better than Letang and Dumoulin defensively, for example. He can play both in PP1 and PK in Arizona. In he brings experience for a extremely young D core. I think it makes sense for both teams. The only problem is his salary, but Arizona can swallow easily. However, maybe Petry would decline to play for Arizona. I admit it.
PS.: Arizona playing with Cooley, Guenter and other very good young offensive players, I think this team has potential to surprise many ones, specially if one of their goalies plays solid.

Brossoit would be a starting goalie in LA. They should signed him indeed. Now they'll need to get at least 5 goals to win some games. This season is already lost indeed. No team can do something without at least one good goalie. 2 goalies are ideal in this times for the most of teams, except Rangers, Islanders, Jets and Bolts. Maybe Dallas and Boston (if Ullmark stays healthy, cause we saw whats happened in playoffs...) as well.

Ouch! Rivalry apart, poor Islanders fans...they'll be stuck with many players for so many years. If a player want stability in his career, go plays to Lou in the Islanders. Even if you're just a decent player, you'll get 7 or 8 years contract.

We need a 3C who can win FOs and not get shoved around. He has experience, has won a Cup, and should be a good presence in the locker room. He's coming from great teams.
Need to relax on the hate bro.</div></div>
First of all, I'm not a hater. Not even close to be one. Eller played pretty bad last three seasons. Just ask for any Caps/Colorado fan. Second, Toews is now a 3rd line C which is one of the best in FOs and he's MUCH BETTER than Eller in both sides of the ice. I'm relaxed. I watch sports just to have some fun. But I'm being realistic here. Anyway, I'm still wanting to be wrong about this one.
As for the Jarry contract, If he can stay healthy, then can be turned into a very good contract. But if he keeps getting hurt, then will be a disaster indeed. 3 years at most in term will be ok. But 5 years for an injury prone player doesn't make any sense. Even for a 28 player. We'll see...
