Kakko and Trouba
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Swedish_Mafia</b></div><div>Correct. I’m not under any impression that he is the player he once was. But, the wings can use some edge and if he can take even a fraction of the pressure off Seider to take every tough matchup, it’s worth it. The 2nd piece to it is only having to be locked in for 2 years. Dipping in to the free agent pool and coming out with Roy on a 5 or 6 year deal carries its own risks.</div></div>
You bring up a valid point.
Seider needs help or he's going to be retired by 30.
He can't keep being a 1 man show on D.
Trouba can take some pressure off him.
Young Edvinsson will really help Seider too.

13 goals and 31 points in the last two seasons combined. Combine that with the fact Tampa is super close to the cap, that's a massive overpay.
I like the idea of Jeannot but for cheap.

8 year playoff drought
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JimmyV1993</b></div><div>I think Yzerman offers 1 year at 4-4.5. Maybe two years at 4 or less. Look, Stevie played hardball with Larkin and Debrincat on term, I think some of the confusing UFA signings have been related to asks on term. This team has a boat load of prospects that should be pushing for jobs, and Stevie seems to be protecting other assets to make sure he can push when those guys are ready.
As far as other teams interested in Kane, I believe Dallas, Boston and Buffalo were in on him late in the process this year. All the media seems to want him to go back to Chicago, but that ship seems to have sailed. I’m not sure any of those teams give that guy three years though.</div></div>
The wings will be a cap team from here on out, so, ideally he signs a 1 year so Yzerman can take advantage of the 35+ performance bonus cap overage allowance. You could easily pay him the 6.25 with 2 mil in performance bonus making it a 4.25 cap hit. I just don't think Showtime goes for that, and I don't blame him. He's still a ppg player with absolutely elite parts to his game and he wants term and will get more than 4/year.
Look at Pavelski for example. He signed a 3x7 with Dallas just before turning 35 and coming off a 64 point in 75 game season and a career average of about .8 points/game. He signed a 1 year, 6 mil (500k perf bonus) after that and then a 1 year, 5.5 (2 mil perf bonus) last off season. The 6 mil contract was after an 81 point season at age 38 (the guy is ridiculous).
Now, obviously Joe Pavelski is a different style of player than Patrick Kane but the numbers should arguably be very similar. 47p in 50 games last season immediately after taking a die-grinder to the hip bone. He's 35 now, so approximately 7 mos older than Pavelski was when he signed for 3 years but he also has 523 more points than Joe did.

Marner deal for maximum fun
Coots and Marner don't waive. Leafs people aren't going to want Coots because of injury history and slow second half of his return season. Most Flyers people won't want Marner since he'll be demanding a lot of money and most likely won't fit in our rebuild timeline.

There's a lot of people on here trying to trade for Foligno, but regardless of the value here, I'm just curious if there's one example besides Matthew Tkachuk of a player getting traded after signing an extension. Because that one was an obvious sign and trade. Offers for Foligno have been all over the place, but I just don't see any realistic world he's traded. He also has a NMC, so that just adds to that thought...

Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>The reason Berggren is in the AHL is because Yzerman wants the group to have success as a team before brining them up. He had no intention of bringing up prospects. Why else would Yzerman fill out the roster with UFAs. When they needed to pull up a player from the AHL it was Austin Czarnik a 30yr old career AHLer. There are quite a few players on Detroit that won't be on the team when Detroit is ready to contend.
If Detroit moves Husso then Reimer becomes their starter? There are a couple of teams that desperately need a goalie, so you can count out signing a good free agent at this point. Reimer has better numbers but Husso has played against better teams.
Rasmussen not lighting it up up isn't an issue with his size they want him to be a defensive forward.
I can't see Petry being traded with a cap hit of $2.3M he gets to finish his career in Detroit. Which made his dad really happy. His dad won a world series with the Tigers and is currently an on air analyst during Tiger broadcasts. The Tigers are owned by the Ilitches who own the Wings as well.
This is just how I see it and I could be totally or partially wrong. Your Boston post yesterday I think RNH for Ullmark makes a lot of sense even though both fan bases here on CapFriendly hate it.</div></div>
thank you lol. Im doing all 32 teams and its pretty hard to get every team spot on, also I dont know the small detaisl like Petry's dad for example.

Think Keller would end up going for two firsts and a defense prospect.
I like everything else though. Really think the Wings’ll prioritize getting tougher. We all watched Brady Tkachuck bend this team over, we’re all watching his brother dominate the playoffs from our own division. You can’t replicate those guys, but you can sharpen a physical edge. Seider already brings it, let’s add a few more of those to the mix to take pressure off Mo.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Datsyukian13</b></div><div>Was referring to the Keller trade - it's just not even close to something ARZ would accept.
Tara would be nice for 2 years (although not gonna happen) and I am a big Bert fan - I know you are not haha.</div></div>
Every rumored trade target is always over valued on here. Keller is great but ARZ is not going to get 3 1sts and a top prospect like people on here think.

Who might be available due to cap reasons
I wouldn't say Yzerman ****ed up it's more like bad luck. Bertuzzi had only missed signifiant time when he had back surgery and Vrana entering the Players Assistance Program are things you don't expect to happen. You definitely don't expect it to happen to two players in the same season and it's further magnified when both of those players are in your top 6. Yzerman has drafted well and most of his UFA signings have worked out very well for Detroit. I don't think signing Klingberg would be a mistake but it depends on what he will sign for. But bring him in and pairing him with Edvinsson Could end up being a very good move.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wingsfannn</b></div><div>They’d have to probably move a trouba who’s been playing really well. They’d definitely be put in a tough spot. Might cause some arguments but what we need is a bonafied #1c. I think for now with where we’re at we can have kasper or veleno as 3c for next season with kasper being 2c likely in 24-25 and veleno 3c unless he’s brought down to 4c.</div></div>
I don't see Veleno being any more than a 3c and that's fine. I have my doubts that Kasper has the offensive upside to really be a good 2nd center. I'm interested to see him over here and see how his game translates to north America. I'd love a high skilled center at the draft like Oliver Moore this year though to help with the depth there.

Finally Ready to Compete for a Playoff Spot
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JimmyV1993</b></div><div>Eh this would be an improvement, but I don’t think by much.
Don’t think anybody is going to get a deal worth more than Larkin unless you’re pulling Mathews or Draisatl out of UFA. Seider probably gets half a million more for 8 years. Yzerman just said he doesn’t really like playing guys on their offside, can’t see Wallinder doing that in his rookie year. Monahan leaves a lot to be desired for that spot, if Veleno isn’t out playing him idk what we’re doing.
This team still looks soft as hell.</div></div>
There is still a good 6 million to spend on adding pieces to round out the roster. I didn't go crazy with UFA's because it is hard to project who will be available. I do think that they need to add some toughness and they should be able to do so with 6 million. I believe Wallinder currently plays RD so I figured he would be a good fit there. They could move Maatta over or sign another RD if Wallinder isn't ready.

If Kings (or some other team) needs to shed cap, your thought for Peterson is sound. But lets assume Peterson doesn't bounce, plenty of cap to sign a 3rd goalie, and there are "lots" of goalies available this summer.

Detroit Deadline
So I'd take a shot at Cal Petersen, I'd gladly take the cap hit back to get Maverick Bourque. I can't see the duclair deal. If they move him and I don't think they will I think it's more picks or maybe a young cheap player not a ufa who's just gonna walk. They need to refresh the pipeline a bit. Kubalik doesn't seem like a great fit for Calgary plus he isn't worth two 2nds.
