Why buy him out? To save a 900,000 dollars of cap space? His buy out will still cost the team $5,166,667 in cap space for the next two years and then $416,667 for two years after that It's kind of pointless unless it's a desperation move.

It's not like Detroit is doing anything anytime soon, isles pay the signing bonus send him to detroit and they buy him out. Best chance Boychuk waives the M-NTC, isles lose cap, and detroit gains assets

Ya no. We will keep Merkley lol. Giving away a potential elite D to dump a goalie is the kind of trade that you look back on and get roasted about

Pass from the Wings. Detroit's very likely going to be the worst with or without Skjei, so paying market value for him doesn't make sense.

I like the wings deal, only issue is that we have a contract limit, so instead of the 4rh take the 6th, perlini and erne and we are good to go

What is a retained salary transaction/trade
When a team trades a player, they have the option to retain a part of their salary (and cap hit). The team who retains the salary then pays the retained percentage of the salary, and also retains the percentage of the cap hit until the contract expires. The following requirements must be met to retain salary:
The percentage retained cannot exceed 50 percent of the player’s salary (including all bonuses) and Salary Cap Hit.
The same percentage must be retained for both the player’s salary and Salary Cap Hit, and cannot be modified.
All teams are limited to a maximum of 3 retained salary contracts per season.
Teams cannot retain an aggregate amount of more than 15 percent of the Salary Cap Upper Limit.
Players’ contracts are limited to 2 retained salary transactions per contract.
Once a retained salary transcation has occurred, there are various limitations, such as:
A team cannot reacquire a player whom they have retained salary from for a minimum of one year after the date of the transaction, or unless the player's contract expires or is terminated prior to the one-year date.
All teams involved in a retained salary transaction will have cap implications if the contract is bought out or terminated.
Teams who retain salary on a players contract, will have the full value of the cap hit act against the teams salary cap total, regardless of whether the player is reassigned to the minors by their current team.

Works for everyone, rangers get out of the money, wings get a first rounder and Hank should waive the NMC since he’s just getting bought out anyway

WINGS DO NOT WANT DOMI.
Some valid reasons why:
It fills possibly one need, center for Wings but opens another need, scoring wingers.
For Montreal, they have a glut of centers but need forwards, so it fills your needs much better than ours.
They are in the same division so we help a division rival and do nothing for ourselves.
Mantha and Domi have some of the same stats, but Mantha has been injured and many people beleive if healthy he could hit new highs that out pace Domi.
There has to be a reason he was moved from the top.6 to the bottom six in the playoffs.
Mantha is a big power forward and Dimi is a smallish center iceman. Power forwards are harder to find with good hands then smallish center iceman.
Lindgren is nothing, so it is essentially Mantha for Domi, which doe nothing for an inter divisional trade, especially when Habs seem to want Mantha much more than Wings want Domi.
Can you give me your reasons why Wings should make the deal? Because in all the posts from Had fans they say you need a center and we want Mantha. Not really a convincing arguement

Actually No, sadly. There was the Mete and two 2nd round picks in 2021 and 2022 and then there was the Mantha and Veleno for Poehling, Petry, Tatar and a 3rd in 2021

You aren’t. Only way they move him is if somebody blows them away with an offer. And that ain’t it 👆

Hmmmmm maybe Thoughts
The truly sad part of this is that Steen and Bozak would've been the 4th and 5th best forwards on DET when the season ended, per https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/detroit-red-wings/line-combinations/
If those players want to waive their trade protection... well I'll let the DET faithful decide if this is a direction they think Yzerman would go for. Certainly simplifies things for the Blues to have $11+m out of the picture with the snap of a finger. I still think they could move Bozak without any payment to a team outside his 10-team no trade list. He's a reliable center that would draw some attention at the trade deadline. Steen, maybe not so much...

I like what you are trying to do but some of the deals are just unrealistic:
No way the jets get multiple picks back for Matty P. If anything, they are attaching picks to get out of his contract
The value in the Monahan deal is probably close, but Calgary most likely declines cause they'll need Monahan
Way too much for NJ to give up for the 10 overall. maybe one of Zacha or Fast and one of the picks? I don't know
I do like the D signings, but I think at most 2 happen. Mike Smith is a nice add if he isn't too old
