Are you that short sighted?!?! Good lord.

at 36 gio just won the Norris ....and his early career stats aren't better than Carlson....short sighted? no im actually smart enough to understand every player is different and that Carlson is elite.... his deal at 8 million by 2023/2024 wount be anything crazy....similar to the Matt nisk deal currently.. but hey stay negative I dont blame you being a leafs fan :)

My problem with Carlson's contract is the term, not the money (same with Karlsson, Josi, etc).
You really need to stretch to try and assemble some argument here and yet you somehow still **** it up. Now that's talent!

why would his term be an issue if in the 2 years since signing the deal hes done nothing but improve his totals? what are you basing this off of? explain? year one 69 points year 2 70 points year 3 132 point pace? you need to better explain why you have issues bc based off his play nothing is showing signs of him playing worse?

how old was the Norris winner last year? 36? man he should be a 3rd pairing bender right? yes your are very lazy and try to generalize average to terrible talent and compare is to elite level players
maybe do some research then before throwing my guy Carlsons name into the fire

hes mad bc hes comparing elite talent to terrible talent and getting a graph of the average......
he also included Carlson in the conversation of terrible contracts but since he signed that deal hes done nothing but improve his play? that goes against his logic so he needs to make a graph and cry about it and throw insults about going to school

This means close to nothing. Advanced stats are just a fancy way to make people think they are smart. Every player is different and every players body is different. It all varies.

Ouch
Totally should have given less term for more money.
You doubt that? Go check those long term deals on D after 30.

A player goes into serious decline around 30.
Josi will be 30 when this 8 year 9.059 contract STARTS.
He is a fantastic dman, of that there is no doubt but expecting him to be worth it past the first couple years is ludicrous. This is a bad deal through and through.

I wouldn't say a players peak years end at 26-27....

SIGNED FORWARDS

N.Petan - Gauthier - Agostino
SIGNED DEFENSE
Reilly - Sandin - Liljegren

2020-21 SEASON TOTALS
Signed Roster = 20 Players
Team Cap-Hit = $70,500,000
Salary Cap Est = $84,500,000

Remaining Cap Space = $14,000,000

Total Cost = $14,000,000
And Toronto really doesn't have to sign Barrie if he wants too much money.
They could also trade Kappy + Hyman for help on defense or cap-space.
Especially if Mikheyev + Moore keep playing as well as they are.
Go check it for yourself though ... I mean, were definitely on the right website.

Here folks is a wonderful exhibit of someone taking a comment WAY too seriously. It's fascinating to see, but also quite sad at the same time. anyways, Moving on!!

(OTT/NYR) - Ebert for Namestnikov

Quoting: L_FACTOR

Okay, let me get this straight. Ottawa, a team that should be working to finish last, picked up a contract with ZERO VALUE beyond this year (UFA) by trading a young asset and a pick. That makes sense. PLEASE, SOMEONE EXPLAIN HOW THIS WASN'T IDIOTIC?

First of all Nick Ebert is not a young asset. He's a 25 year old former 7th round pick they signed out of Sweden to play in the AHL. He not anything beyond a 3rd/4th injury call up. Probably only included to keep Ottawa at 49/50 contracts. A 4th round pick is negligible in terms of expected value, especially compared to Namestnikov.
If Vladdy can be a solid middle six player for a couple of months in Ottawa, there's a solid chance they could get a 3rd for him at the deadline. Worst case scenario, he's a slightly better Mikkel Boedker who is gone at the end of the season, and you probably won't miss what you gave up.
With the sens bringing in 3.25mil in this deal, I wouldn't be surprised to see money out in the next couple of days/weeks. Maybe Boedker/Pageau/Tierney? Unlikely the sens want to add salary straight up.

(ARI / CGY) - Johnson, Hickey, 3rd round pick for Smith
Why did some people say Coyotes won the trade? They sent their number one goaltender for NOTHING with retained salary transaction. (UFA back up goalie, unsigned prospect and a third (or second) round draft pick) are nothing for Smitty.

(CGY / CAR) - Hanifin, Lindholm for Hamilton, Fox, Ferland
Trade works great both ways but the Flames had to make this trade.
1. Adam Fox was reportedly not going to sign with Calgary.
2. Dougie was a distraction in the organization.
3. Ferland's inconsistency and unable to play with Monny/Gaudry made him a bottom six forward.
