Projected Lineup with no additions
I'm right along with you. I had pretty much the same opening night line-up. The only difference was DeBrincat starting in Rockford to get his feet under him with pro hockey. My bottom-six was Schmaltz-Kero-Hartman and Jurco-Bouma-Wingels though. I hope DeBrincat stands out in camp and gets a chance. If not, I'm a big fan of Highmore and think he would be a solid bottom-six guy.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think the Hawks will do that. All three of those players will have to go through waivers. Rozi seems to be that trusted 7th D for Q, Tootoo is the locker room guy, and I assume Bouma is going to get some run at that cap hit. I think Hayden might be on the roster when the season starts as well because of the type of contract they gave him out of college last season, this being the final year of the deal an all. Pokka is okay, but his stock has been declining for awhile now, just doesn't have the foot speed for the NHL game. There is a reason a 19-year-old Gustav Forsling made the team last season over Pokka, who has been in the Hawks system for three years now. I hope his game has improved and he turns heads in camp though. Again, I understand what you're saying, but the names you mentioned are not names you just take off the roster, because all three are one-way deals that won't be shipped to Rockford. Bowman signed them for what they bring off-ice for the most part, excluding Bouma. I get how tha doesn't make sense, but I guess that's on the GM if you disagree with it because I would put money on all three being on the 23 man roster come opening week.</div></div>
I only really disagree with you first statement. Rozsival was BARELY a trusted #7 last year. He got all of 22 games and part of that had to do with the expansion draft. If you watched him play he couldn't keep up with the slowest 4th liners. While Pokka has slow foot speed I can ABSOLUTELY guarantee that Rozsival is slower. If Rozsival sees more ice time than Pokka I will be very disappointed.
As far as it goes, waiving any of those players shouldn't an issue at all for Bowman. They bring a lot off the ice and while that is very very important for team success, on ice performance is more important. At some point during this season it is hard to imagine none of those players are waived for call ups</div></div>
I agree with what you're saying completely. What I wrote is not exactly how I feel about those players, yet, in my opinion that's how management and Q feel about those certain guys. I'm not the biggest Bouma fan, but they gave him a 1 million dollar contract, which indicates to me that he will be on the roster and play pretty much every night. If you want to say those are bad contracts, I'm right there with you because it probably show have been allocated in a better way.

CAR/TOR trades
I'm a fan of both prospects you applied to the JVR trade, but I don't think that is anywhere near enough for Toronto to even think about it. An undrafted prospect with top-9 potential and bottom pair D-man with upside probably won't land him.

Moving on from Hossa
Gaudreau can be a solid bottom-six guy, but two thirds an a seventh seems like far too much. The Hawks give the impression of rebuilding on the fly at the moment. I would say they covet every draft pick at this time, especially this year. I pray they don't trot out this 20 at any point this year or Colorado might finish ahead of them.

Thanks, man. I completely agree with what you are saying as well. I have a suspicion Hino makes the team. The way the league is moving and Q's comments about the speed becoming more of a factor leads me to believe Hino nabs a spot. Along with the fact Q used his name specifically when talking about the speed of the game. Also, he looked pretty solid in prospect camp, the prospect tournament, and word is he's had a nice early showing at training camp.

Totally different, but I enjoy the creativity. I might move Crawford before Seabrook because the goalie position is easier to patch than a legit top-2 D-man in my opinion, but the'Hawks goalie depth is severely shallow.

There have been a few sources talking about it. And if you think about it, Vesey would be idiotic to not at least consider it. Very good chance he gets a shot with Toews and Hossa and is on a Cup contending team. So what, you aren't in Boston, who cares? Get over it. Sure, Toews would probably enjoy playing in Winnipeg and Kane would enjoy playing in Buffalo, but not like they'd pick to play with those teams over staying in Chicago. Why would he go to a team he has no connection to? He might as well go to Anaheim to play with Getzlaf and Perry and for the weather lol. I don't think the Hawks are an option for Vrbata. I could see him going back to Arizona for a bigger payday and longer term where he spent five years prior to Vancouver. Plus, he is strictly a RW, unfortunately.

I like your explanation to this roster. You are probably right with Schmaltz in that top-line, but if he impresses at camp.. Why not try it? My only concern with camp is most of the top players on the Hawks roster will be playing in the World Cup, so will he even get a chance to line up with those guys before the season. I am a big fan of that third line and have been setting it up that same exact way. The only difference I would make is Moose for Desi, and then rotate between TooToo/Desi/Mash given how each is playing.

Both players are waiver-exempt, so that reasoning doesn't hold weight. I don't think they want to rush Schmaltz, and there is no way Q is going to trust him as his 3C. Who knows though, maybe he has a stellar camp and EARNS that spot.

Thank you for clearing that up for me though... I wasn't too sure how those particular contracts worked. I think he would take less money though for the chance to play with Panarin and Kane, not what I offered here given what you said, but less than his KHL contract. Although, that would probably make Hudler less of a possibility.

It's called a cap problem an a bad contract for past performance. If you take a look at the advanced statistics for Seabrook, they are not too good. I love Seabrook and would hate to see him go given the memories he has provided this city, but this team is in need of moving a big contract. I mean the Hawks would not win the PR on this one and McD probably wouldn't allow it, but I hope Hawks fans realize going into the season relying on a mix of IceHogs might not look pretty.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Weise at all for that price, especially now that Shaw is gone. I just have a gut feeling Soupy is going to sign with the Hawks for fairly decent discount like that.

Armstrong is asking for the Moon for Shattenkirk, so there is no way that trade happens with basically swapping picks. I think the Blues will finally give Allen the reigns as the #1, and they would never take on that Bernier contract.

I truly believe Saad would have been more reasonable and signed for $2-2.5M less for 4+ years, keeping a great lineup that much more intact. T&K could have then signed for the bigger bucks IMO.
