Palmieri doesn’t have negative value. He could likely fetch a 6th or 7th round pick. I don’t think you have to give Nashville a 2nd round pick to take him.

I dig this as an isles fan but send ishakov back down. Now you have $2m in cap. Move engvall to LW. Sign or trade for a cheap 3c… maybe Seattle could send us a 3c back in the trade for palmieri, if we offer a pick too…

After the way Lou praised the fourth line about their playoff performance, i don’t see him moving clutter. The eye test to me personally says it’s time to shake it up if we need the cap space. But Lou won’t move clutter. Just don’t see it.

Point out who that player can be, that is actually potentially available. I'm thinking a 3-team trade is the only way that a deal gets done with Isles and VAN. Unless you guys want Beauvilier. I don't see Lou trading his top prospects of Raty / Dufour.

You don't want a puck moving defenseman who can put up actual points? Which RD man would you want that has been linked to any actual real trade rumors? Dobson was never available, and is going to be on the Isles a long long time.

This is not really apples to apples. Miller in a trotz system would not put up 99 points.

Miller Kadri Milano
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>While Vegas is a team with limited leverage, so are the Islanders who are trying to desperately free up space for a big move. I think a 2nd or 3rd is fine. His cap hit is also not great, so if they want a 1st from a team then they need to retain 50%. Not sure that still makes it happen.</div></div>
My two arguments are:
1) Vegas is going to LTIR lehners $5m, so why does it matter if Vegas takes the full $5m or $2.5m? It’s a one year deal anyways.
2) trading varly to Vegas would simply be to get the 1st rounder to then flip to Vancouver for Miller. This isn’t for cap dump. The cap dump would be beauvilier to Montreal. We only take Jake allen back in that trade if Vegas agrees to give isles the first for varly…

Thompson has literally 20 NHL games under his belt. Varly is a proven veteran who has averaged strong numbers his entire career. Most people feel it will take a first round pick to get him away from the islanders.
You’re vastly undervaluing varlamov in this trade. He could also be extended likely around 3x$2.5m.</div></div>

This is incorrect. Lehner is going on LTIR for the full year. Lehner is $5M. Varly is $5M. You have the exact cap space for Varly. And he is a UFA next summer, allowing you to slot Lehner back in for the 23-24 season.

I’m a supporter of the pageau for girard. Even did this trade myself but didn’t include the 2nd.
Isles still have to find a way to also ship out Josh Bailey, in order for them to fit Kadri.
There are most people just assuming that if pageau gets traded, he goes for cap space, to sign Kadri.
We will see. It’s a lot to expect Lou to move two players of significance in Bailey AND pageau. But for them to do this trade, that would be the requirement. Teams like ANA or OTT could fit Bailey.
It can also be beauvilier and pageau. But I’ll be pissed if it is.

Would also love the room for sonny milano, which they can also do if they trade Bailey $5m instead of beaus $4m.

Going All in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Do you want me to give you a list of significantly worse players that received a first round pick and more at the deadline as rentals? Ok fine
Ben Chiarot: overrated second/third pair d man that has terrible analytics
Return: first round pick, fourth round pick, prospect
David Savard: another second/third pair d man
Return: first round pick, third round pick
Nick Foligno: bottom six veteran with limited to no offensive production
Return: first round pick, fourth round pick
Claude Giroux: older vet, still top 6 material but not nearly as good as Miller
Return: first round pick, solid prospect +
Andrew Copp: solid middle six center, not nearly as good as Miller
Return: prospect, two second round picks, one of which ended up becoming a first round pick
Think you’ve had enough? Not a single one of those players are nearly as good as Miller, yet they all fetched around the same value you have proposed. Do you see how silly it is to say that’s fair value now? Now you say if he slightly declined, he can’t even fetch a first round pick? Give your head a shake</div></div>
2023 draft has higher talent than 2022.
Again, you'd be getting a draft pick in the 20's if waiting until the deadline, but you can take that chance in something higher with isles now if you feel they're not a playoff team.
You're discounting the trade value of Pageau.
You'll *probably still get the first at the deadline if production dips noticeably, but what else are you expecting? Why not take the Isles first now and get it over with?
I can assure you that VAN fans are going to be extremely upset with the return for Miller, when it happens...
He's not extending in VAN, and everyone knows that. It takes away leverage. Very few teams can afford him right now cap-wise. And I'd hate to see VAN fighting closely for a playoff spot and then be put in a position to trade away a very good player right in the thick of it.
Just curious, what are VAN's biggest holes right now in your opinion? We know you want a RHD. Dobson isn't for sale. What else?

Give me some good reasons why the Canucks would want a 29 year old 5 million dollar center that does not produce many points.</div></div>
Also - better hope that Miller performs close to his 99 point season (and stays healthy) if you're going to hold on to him until the trade deadline... Can you count on both of those things to be the case? Decline in production and that first becomes a second. I feel like the Isles are 1 of a very very few teams who can even take on Miller's contract right now from the start of the season...
