WPG Playoff Run
I like the sentiment, but I don't think STL will give him up with that much cap retention nor I think he will waive his NMC for Winnipeg. The Jets do need a top 6 winger as a rental for the playoff push and the can give up picks and prospects for one. I think they should pursue Kuzemenko from Vancouver. His contract doesnt have a NTC, he is gonna be a UFA at the end of the year and is not gonna re-sign with vancouver and is gonna be one of the hottest free agents. His cap hit is under $1mill which gives more space to pick up an actual back up goalie for the playoffs as well. Lucius, Lambert, McGroty are off limits. Stanley is fine being a cheap and physically imposing 6/7 Dman, they need to get Heniola into the line up. Samberg, Barron, Gustoffson and etc.. are just depth guys, nothing special and can use those in packages for a top 6 pending ufa fwd and backup goalie.

*Slow Clap* YASS! That is a great rental trade! He's not coming back to the canucks. Kuzmenko is gonna be one of the highest saught after free agents this year. Its a very low risk with a very high reward trade. You get a top 6 scoring winger to play with one of the two stud centres the jets have at a cheap price. If you can re-sign him, great! if not, meh you gave up a low first round pick and one of your many dman prospects whom will most likely end up being a bottom pair or #7 dman anyways. I was thinking Pujjarvi, Duclair, Domi, Drouin, Dodanov or Barbashev as rentals, but becasue he is such a low cap hit, gives Jets cap room to find a decent back up goalie for the playoofs and second half of the season.

I like the idea of bringing Towes into the fold. He is a sturdy vet with cup and playoff experience. Perfect fit for the 3rd line especailly with guys like Lowry and Appleton. That make a great defensive forward group. Lots of good back checking and faceoff wins that can chip in with a few points. All that expeirence brought in but no pressure on him to score. We do need another 2nd/3rd line forward to roud out the group. So I don't mind seeing Samberg or Stanley as well as a mid round pick sent off for a rental. But I hope Chevy doesnt get to crazy and let Lambert, Heniola or Mcgurty go for rentals. Top prospects and picks for longer term players.

Jesse Puljujarvi is the Perfect Trade for the Jets and only Trade Jets need
Makes sense to pursue JP from Edmonton. Oilers need cap relief once they are all healthy. Jets need a Top 9 Forward that's a right handed shot. If he doesn't produce, don't qualify him and let him walk as a UFA. New scene, And with Schieflie or Dubois as true playmaking centers (Draisital and McDav are scoring centers), he might be able to live up to his perceived potential.

I wouldn't give up DeMelo. We have a surplus of Defensemen but not right handed Dmen. You could get JP out of edmonton for prospects and picks. If not, I'd give up lower picks and marginal prospects for Foegel from EDM, or Kerfoot or Engval from Toronto. And absouletly love the Raanta move!

Replace Heniola with Stanley & keep Stanley as the #7 Dman. The bottom 6 especially that 4th line is garbage! Thankfully we have the cap space to make moves, but we need forward depth! And that back up goalie needs to be upgraded stat! Helley is gonna burn out trying to carry this team. The defense is an average unit. Lot of upswing but they will get the job done. But not a playpff conteder until they get forward depth.

Next Year
Every Sens fan on this site needs to get it through their heads ... Grioux aint coming home! He's chasing a Cup! This team is a couple seasons away from being a contender (if managment/ownership doesnt scrw it up). Next year Sens expectations should be getting into the playoffs. Giroux near the end of his career is not going to join a franchise mid build.
Gambell, Watson & Gaudette way too much money for ECHL quality players. There are home grown guys in the system that are cheaper and better and more deserving of a roster spot then those over paid plugs (Ridley & Sokolov)

Return of Jets Elite Top 9 with Improved Gus as 4th line C and help with PK
It be great to have Appleton back! But definetly for a low rounder or to dump Beaulieu. But Copp is doing well on the 2nd line so I'd keep him there. With the idea of Appleton back, I'd do the forward lines like this:
Connor - Dubois - Svech
Copp - Scheiflie - Ehlers
Stastny - Lowry - Wheeler
Vesay - Gustoff - Appleton
Harkins
Morrissey - Schmidt
Dillion - Poink
Stanley - DDM
Beaulieu

I still have faith in this team but not the coach. God love em, but it's time move on from PoMo. Jets have been known for drafting great prospects but not developing them so much lol. The stocks in the prospect cupboard is kinda bare at the moment. So I wouldn't move any of them. I would keep the team as is, with exception to some minor tweeks and line changes & a new bench boss.
Dump or Waive Nash & Belieau! Dead weight! There a guys on the Moose that have put in the time & are are more deserving of a roster spot on the big club. Call up Perfetti, Gustoff & Nogier. The D core is fine. If we trade anyone, i'd trade DDM for a depth forward and then call up Heniola, but then you gotta keep Perfetti down. If not trade DDM, keep Heniola down & call up Perfetti. Either way Perfetti & Heniola need ice time, so calling them up to sit in the press box or play 4th line/ 3rd pair minitues is pointless for their development.
Lines when/if healthy:
Connor - Dubois - Perfetti
Ehlers - Copp - Scheiflie
Stastny - Lowry - Wheeler
Svech - Gustoff - Vesy
Harkins
Morrissey - Schmidt
Dillion - Poink
Stanley - DDM
Nogier
Helly
Comrie
Schiflie is getting back into the groove of things, but he is doing a terrible job winning faceoffs & we need more right handed shots on the RW. Wheeler at this point is a thrid line agitator/grinder not the top 6 power forward like he once was. And thats ok! Father time always wins & he will be very serviceable on the 3rd line. I think that 3rd line of Stastny, Lowry, Wheeler is great as these players are your prototypical 3rd checking line. Perfetti is gonna be a top 6 guy, so mind as well allow him to develop in the top 6 with Connor & PLD. PLD & Connor are playing so well together, injecting Perfetti in the top line, Jets won't loose any scoring as Perfetti learns on the job. Svech, Gustof, Vesy ... let the young guys on the 4th line fly around!

With how many young forwards we are gonna lock up long term, he's gonna be a bottom 6 guy in a couple years anyways because there is no room for him in the top 6. Which might be blessing for him. Not every first rounder has to be a top 6 F or top 4 D. Nothing wrong with drafting guys in the first round that round out the depth.

Mind as well just go full on with the youth movement. Get rid of Del Zotto, Holden, Ennis, Sanford & Gambrell. Call up Ridely, Sokolov, Brannstrom, Lassi & Docker. And make a trade to bring back Spezza. He finishes where he started as he should.

Winnipeg Jets signed Evgeny Svechnikov (1 Year / $750,000 AAV)
Right on! He will only be with the Jets for 1 season and either get a higher pay day from another team that the Jets can't afford or most likely go to the KHL for higher pay. Trade him to the Kracken and a low pick for Appleton. Losing Appleton is a huger whole than people think this year. Based on the first couple games, you can tell the lack of forward depth is gonna hurt them.

What would you give the Flyers if Claude Giroux wanted a trade to Ottawa
This isn't going to be a homecoming trade nor signing. Giroux isn't from Ottawa. He's from the bushes and stick of Hearst which is a little far away from Ottawa. And wherever Giroux sign next year, at this point in late in his career, it is going to be with a contender. Ottawa is going to be built to compete and contend over a long period of time (like we were in the late 90's thorugh the early 2000's) but its not now and not on Giroux's timeline. However, if he wants to sign. I'd take him!

Habs have a surplus at RW
Losing Appleton is a bigger hole for the Jets than people think. Coop is solid 3rd line LW with Lowry. They will re-sign Copp to a 3/4 yr term deal close to $4mil. Its over paid but thats the going rate for 3rd liners nowadays. I'd actually trade Stastny for Armia. Habs need Centre depth as they have a plethora at wingers this season. And we need a right handed guy on the wing. Armia fit perfectly back into that 3rd line spot he played so well for the Jets with Lowry.

I am still purplexed why Chevy let Poolman go and signed Dillion when they are essentially the same type of player and poolman cost less so that we have more cap room for BU goalie or top 6 RW. But I'd rather see Demelo go for top 6 support.

Suzuki will be the top centre, Poehling Second, Paquette third & Perrault 4th. Perrault came into the league as a bottom 6 centre with the ducks and caps. And in winnipeg he played everywhere at forward. He is so verstile and even play D, hes a good pick up and be 4th line centre so that don't have to play one of the wingers at an unartural position.

You're pretty much on point, but I don't see Stastny coming back for that low. And also we need more Right handed forwards on the wing. Instead of Stastny, I'd pick up a depth RW with a right handed shot. Honestly, I'd take a flyer on Virtanen when he comes out of his legal issues. Young big strong affordable bottom six RW with scoring touch to play with Coop & Lowry.
