<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Reporting - “Sources indicate Toronto are in discussion with New Jersey around a trade for MacKenzie Blackwood”

Speculation - “The leafs may want to add a goalie and the Devils could look to make a change. Maybe these two teams could match-up on a Blackwood trade”

Big difference

The Devils have always been very tight-lipped (and have fewer beat reporters) so information does not come out often. Which is why we get these speculations that turn into rumors when there is no evidence.

<em>“The Devils are shopping Blackwood”</em>. No evidence of that. If anything, the GM and MackBlack has patched things up and team has recommitted to him for year.

<em>“The Devils are shopping 2nd overall pick”</em>. Again, no evidence at all. Our GM answered one question about moving his 1st round pick with a “would consider anything that helps team” type of response. That was before the lottery and it has snowballed since.

“<em>The Devils are not going to qualify Miles Wood</em>” there has been nothing about this from team. Fitzgerald has said he wants him back, considers him a big part of team, and Miles Wood has said he wants to come back.</div></div>

All fair comment but I think you would agree that devils need an upgrade in goal and there is no doubt that Campbell would be an option that would give them that.

I choose devils but could just as easily suggested it be Edmonton who also need a goalie and might pay a draft choice to secure rights to Campbell before he goes to market.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>Mrazek has a far more proven track record than Blackwood. And it's been reported your GM wants to move on from him, so a guy who's been bad for over half his games played, doesn't have much value. Whether you want it to be different.</div></div>

1. chicago needs someone to play goal and they will need someone to play for Strome. Mrazek is able to play half the games on a bad team and isn’t good enough to steal games Chicago wants to lose during the “effort to rebuild” “dumping” that will be happening to gain higher placing in the draft the next few years. Kerfoot fits into any hole needed to and can be moved for a draft choice at next years deadline.

2. Strome is too old to fit the hawks stated plan for a total rebuild and Holl plus the two draft choices, plus the Mrazek/Kerfoot pieces are reasonable.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Erkadurk347</b></div><div>Devils counter with PK Subban’s rights for Timothy liljegren</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tintin</b></div><div>Can only see Sandin being of interest for the Devils in a Blackwood trade.
Rights to Campbell ain’t it.</div></div>

3. Like it or not Blackwood has little value and getting anything back like the right to sign Campbell is something real. The dream that sandin will be thrown in to make deal for him isnt real and the point was that devils need a starter to take the next step in becoming a winning franchise. Reports are that they will be active on Campbell.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aussie_Blackhawk</b></div><div>Thats going to be a no from CHI. We are open to moving Stromes rights but we don't want all that cap in return on a rebuilding team blocking young players chances to play and develop.</div></div>

4. See above…. I think that the cap room isn’t the issue that makes Chicago do this. Strome is going to get 3+ in arbitration so it’s similar to kerfoot. The goal would be to trade kerfoot, holl for draft choices to add to the other two. From my read that’s how you start a total rebuild, by getting multiple draft choices in multiple years. In this case it’s 4 choices for Strome + a proven sieve in net to assure games are lost as needed.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>adawg</b></div><div>why would the devils trade their starting goalie for UFA rights? thats a huge overpay</div></div>

5. As stated, Blackwood hasn’t worked out and really has only had one good season. That’s now 3 seasons ago. Devils want guy who can win now and Campbell proved in Toronto he can be that guy. The right to negotiate prior to free agency has proven worthwhile and might be difference between signing him or not. You want more, sure let’s add a player/ prospect on wing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil</b></div><div><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tom Fitzgerald on <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NJDevils?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">#NJDevils</a> Mackenzie Blackwood: “There’s still a lot of development…Unfortunately, with the injury this year and him [not getting back to] 100%, that's okay. Because it’s a clean slate right now. We just want him to be 100%”</p>— Amanda Stein (@amandacstein) <a href="https://twitter.com/amandacstein/status/1522296199260344320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">May 5, 2022</a></blockquote>

Where does it say he wants to trade Blackwood? Can’t be making stuff up now. And Blackwood has more value than Mrazek easily</div></div>

6. See above, Blackwood isn’t being traded for Mrazek. In my evaluation Blackwood has little value as anything more then a backup.
