The new CBA extension signed in 2021 says, no you cannot.
The poster you replied to is 100% correct.
The PA argued successfully that the condition reduced the chances of a team signing a player, which reduced their market even slightly, and wanted it banned.

Quick Blowup
Boeser for Fiala just switches one headache contract negotiation for another.
Schneider would have to be part of the return for Miller, not sure how much value Kravtsov has now- he may not return to the NHL.
Debrusk for Pearson would be fine, but if Debrusk is looking for a raise after the crap year he has had...its not worth the headache. Pearson is a solid winger and I dont see him being moved unless they get a good offer that includes a younger nhl ready player- especially if they move one of Miller or Boeser.
Trading away all that for Manson- whose hurt and a UFA at the end of the year- is a complete waste, and the only way they add a RD demanding $4mil plus/year is if they move Myers and likely Poolman- neither whom will fetch much in return.
Those deals with Toronto make the nucks worse.- and i dont see Hamonic waiving his ntc

Oh god you can already forget that... I wouldn't give any of those two considering their potentials (40 goals scorer and 70 pts forward) and the age/futur salary of Hall. It simply doesn't worth it.

small trades with TML, EDM, CBJ, WAS, CHI, and VAN improving the bottom six.
Thank you all for your feed back. there were a lot of little trades and I appreciate your comments. Betterall has made a lot of little trades that have greatly improved the team, I hope he can continue.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>Borgen and malone are in our future. We already have berglund, why do we need anisimov?</div></div>
Thank you for your opinion. You may very well be correct. I have looked at the Sabre prospects and I sort of ranked them in this fashion (with the help of Dobber Prospects <a href="https://dobberprospects.com/team/buffalo-sabres/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://dobberprospects.com/team/buffalo-sabres/</a>)
Rasmus Dahlin
Casey Mittelstadt

Evan Rodrigues
Brendan Guhle
Tage Thompson
Rasmus Asplund

Nicholas Baptiste
Justin Bailey
Casey Nelson
Lawrence Pilut
Victor Olofsson
Mattias Samuelsson
Jacob Bryson
Brandon Hickey
Matej Pekar
Marcus Davidsson

Will Borgen
Sean Malone
If you are correct about them being the future of the Sabres, then there are a lot of future NHL top 6 and top pairing prospects in our system. I hope you are correct.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>radtad</b></div><div>This looks great for every team involved, except the Sabres.</div></div>
Again thank you for your comment. You may be correct, maybe I am misjudging the capabilities of Anisimov and Connolly but IMHO they are a bit better than Sobotka and Wilson.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jtpunk77</b></div><div>canucks say no, too many Lhd</div></div>
Again thank you for your comment, yup you are correct. I will need to look elsewhere for a RHD. I was thinking about the Sabre's needs and I ignored Vancouver's.

You can match Hughes and Avs can put Jost and Boeser back together again. Win win

So you can match Hughes? Brock Boeser, my man. You can keep the 3rd. But Canucks would never move that.
Not sure what would actually get the deal done, but it would be an over payment if it actually was the Hughes pick with how unreal this kid is suppose to be

Draft
The Tanev trade is way too much. TO doesn't need to trade Martin's contract they have tonnes of space. Kapanen is more valuable to Toronto than Granlund would be. So that leaves a pick for Tanev and he isn't worth a 1st.
A 2nd and a prospect, likely a non roster LHD. Think Borgman, Rosen, Nielsen etc.

Because they are in pure rebuild mode and won’t be challenging for cups or playoffs for many years so you get picks and young players that will be big pieces when your core is ready to push

18/19 Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jtpunk77</b></div><div>What about brouwer without retained and andersson for our 2nd</div></div>
It's not bad thinking from the VAN side, but CGY wouldn't do that since the cap situation isn't too tight -- could just keep Brouwer on staff for a year (or in the AHL), and then buy him out after the season. Andersson is too good/promising and ready for a Top 5 role with any team.
Like it or not as a VAN fan, I think Benning could be quite interested in getting a veteran hometown guy at a discount (let's say CGY retains $1.5-2M) to help in the locker room after losing the Sedins. It's not necessarily smart hockey GMing, but it's the kind of stuff that Benning and other GMs have been known to do.

Buffalo & Vancouver might not be good trade partners

We already have Bogosian who is always hurt,
so i can’t see us wanting Tanev as well
Definitely no interest in Nilsson
Possibly Demko, but is he your guy for the future?
If so, u guys might not be willing to move him
Juolevi or #7 are most likely the obvious pieces we’d be after
Probably #7 moreso, bc we are pretty stacked with LH defense now with Dahlin (Scandella, McCabe, Guhle, Pilut & Beaulieu as well)
U gotta remember,
O’Reilly (IF we even move him) will be in high demand
So you’re gonna have to outbid other teams
I don’t think we’d move him unless an offer blows us away
Our GM keeps talking about building down the middle,
and how strong we are gonna be at Center with Eichel, O’Reilly & Mittelstadt

Oh come on it is worth at least 2 stars. BTW Jonathan Dahlen would be cool, he led his team in scoring this past year and had nearly twice as many goals as the next team mate.

Five stars for wanting O'Reilly
I do not know much about Tanev other than I see his name on numerous trades. Since the offers for him seem to be substantial, I have to presume he is a very good defensive defenseman.
So Tanev, Goldobin, N and a 2nd may actually be close to a fair value. (I am basing this on the trades offers for him), but I think we need to add the obvious Jonathan Dahlen. Then the Sabres could have Dahlen and Dahlin and Rasmus and Rasmus.
