Your offer for Kravstov and Lundkvist
1st step: What does NYR need the most?
- 2 Top 9 RW
- Playoffs performers
- Muscles (not a need per se but more like the GM style of players)
- Nice to have: A 4th line center or a backup goalie upgrade
- Worst case scenario: Futures of similar worth
2nd step: What are NYR deal breakers?
- Adding caphit.
- Long term contracts exeeding league minimum by far. Too many RFAs will need raises in 2023.
3rd step: what can MTL offer that fit NYR needs?
-Retained Dadonov
-Retained Armia
-Evans, Allen
- Many picks including low 1st/high 2nds
- Mysak, Ylonen
4th step: What are the asked pieces value?
Kratsov: Top ten pick. Didn't performed as expected in America but in Europe. Major risk he would quit again if unsatisfied. Appears willing to play for NYR. Fills a NYR need. MTL doesn't need a RW or RW prospect.
Worth a low 1st round pick/ high 2nd for MTL. Worth a middle 6 RW and a high pick for NYR.
Lundkvist: End of first round pick with high potential. Close to NHL ready. Asked for a trade. Fills a MTL need.
Worth a high 1st pick + for MTL. Worth a top 6 RW + for NYR.
5th step: Matching values.
Kratsov:
- FLO 2023 1st
- 50% retained Dadonov
- A contract dumped
- Ylonen
I can't see MTL going higher on a player who plays a position already fulfilled and might flee again. Neither can't I see NYR not getting a better return. Just a stretched match. Both teams reject.
Lundkvist:
- MTL 2023 2nd + low pick
- 50% retained Armia
- A contract dumped
- Evans
I don't care about the lack of respect for Armia. He's a playoff beast and would fit perfectly in NYR system, philosophy and cap structure. Haters can go back to read what they said about Lehkonen and shut it. At 1.8M for 3 years, it has plenty of value. Hagel got 2 low 1st after all. The 5.4M saved by MTL also add value for them. Evans makes up for MTL inhability to offer a high ranked 1st because they wont touch their own. IMO this could be a match.

If Bergevin Were Still In Charge
what makes a good GM is the question. i dont think bergevin was great but i cant say he was bad. he made more good trafes than bad ones for sure. made some good ufa signing that paid off well most of the time. but was very bad at drafting. and thencin his last year gave so.many bad contract that it handcuffed this team for the futures. i believe he was an avergage GM but the moves he made in the last year were all pretty much just bad.

Ok you hate Bergevin, but outside the 2017 offseason and 2021 offseason, he did a good job…
Chiarot Lehkonen Toffoli would have stayed, sure
But Dvorak wouldn’t have been traded
That defense is horrible, he would never have went with that

I went with the highest possibility for Pitlyck because he's in pace for a 40 ish season.
For the age of the ufa's i was going for older guys so they can be more short term mentors to the young guys coming in the next few years.

Entering cap hell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JulHok92</b></div><div>Not to be that guy, but Mac might ask for more than 11M$ as crazy as it sounds!</div></div>
I agree though we have to hope he's a man of his word and if so it could bizarrely even be less, though doubtful. I think if he goes with what he said about taking less to keep the team together then 11 is probably about the right money. The scary part is even with that there are some conservative estimates there to fit under the cap.

2022 TDL- simple moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JulHok92</b></div><div>Is Lundkvist already an expendable asset to the NYR? Because that habs gladly take that swap 1 for 1 without the 4th.</div></div>
He's not expendable...a little bit of a slow start in NY and playing mostly with Nemeth hasn't helped him...nor has getting very little PP time (because Fox plays almost full 2 minutes). But Lundqvist still has a bright future in front of him. Still projects as a top 4 D man, and PP Qback...his biggest problem in NY is that he has Fox, Trouba, and Schneider in front of him. I wouldn't mind trying him or one of the others on the left side...but haven't heard any mention of that- probably because NYR have a few left side D prospects about to push the lineup.

Habs Deadline
I see what you did with your Petry trade: A bit under the Ellis trade value, which make sense.
IMO Petry would fit nicely in Nashville for a long playoff run and he would not oppose his NTC since the city is not far from Michigan.
But I dont think Nashville would do such lateral move. If they tought they needed a high paid veteran RHD, they would have kept Ellis instead of trading him away less than a year ago.
So good trade on paper, but not realistic with Poile in charge.

calgary can probably dump lucic for less if they wait until after his signing bonus is paid. $1m salary with $6m cap hit is probably appealing to buffalo and arizona.

Eller would be awesome for MTL right now, however I don't see why the caps would trade him.
Imagine Eller and Armia together on the 4th line? Add Teasdale in there and they'd be possession beasts haha

MIN just couldn't help themselves, could they?
In a vacuum, this is a great no-risk depth move. However, MIN already signed Kulikov and Merrill for the bottom pair, so this is a clear sign that they don't trust Addison yet. That's a shame.

Now that Olofsson is a UFA, I think we can definitively say that Minnesota won the trade. Really unfortunate that injuries and a lack opportunity derailed Olofsson’s career, because I think he could’ve been turned into a good 3rd pairing D in another situation.

oh my goodness guys relax. Did you ever think this was all part of a bigger plan? to bring him up get a small taste of things, get to know some of the guys. Allow the ravenous media a small dose of access to him. Then send him back down, finish the remaining 10 or 12 games with Laval, then bring him up. I have never seen such rabid fans that seem incapable of letting those that have way more inside information run the team. Just because you have access to capFriendly does not mean you know what they intend or are trying to do. It is not about us. We are fans not owners. So relax, enjoy the game. Have some fun!

I’m curious to see what they do, but if Price can’t figure his s**t out and play like a 10.5M goalie I don’t think they make it past the Leafs.
