First Team in Awhile
Yeah pretty good team honestly. I think Galchenyuk would be a nightmare of a 3C because he's bad defensively, but if you were to switch around some of the line combos It would fix any of those issues. Nice job!

Looking at this team
I think you've underpaid Greiss and Labanc by about 250k each, and I'd wager Sorensen is likely on his way out as well, but other than that this is very solid. Nice job.

I just had this insane idea
I could see SJ doing that, but it's just so much cap going back to SJ, that it worries me quite a bit.
I'm no fan of Murray, but I'd have to accept that.

You could probably get a 2nd for Raanta without retention. With you definitely could. Sharks accept this one for sure.

he has 2 years. two years of a player who was on pace for 70 points, and only making 4M is 100% worth a late 1st + Gregor. Perfectly okay with parting with Gregor if its for this return.

Roster Attempt 7
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JumboJoe</b></div><div>very strong center core, but the right side is just too weak</div></div>
I agree but unless they get good value out of a trade, this ensures a more balanced approach that doesn't handcuff them further in terms of too much cap on one FA guy. Imo you attempt a year like where the roster is competitive but not quite elite so that you can retool more effectively. All of these players here like Haula, Labnac, Wagner, Anderson, Eakin, and Reider have value as rentals to teams. It's a flexible situation that gives them options which is what they need rn if they want to retool and contend on the fly within the next 2-3 years. Thanks for the input, appreciate your outlook!

I've got one rule for any team that plays this one. You lose to them, they get to pick any player off of your team.

Lots of Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JumboJoe</b></div><div>they're giving us the 2nd tho</div></div>
Absolute bruh moment, my apologies. My IQ today is apparently lower than Evander's number. No issues.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JumboJoe</b></div><div>that's a fair price for Rutta, and while Galchenyuk did only play a few games he's averaged around half a point per game in all his seasons so I think it's fair</div></div>
I would just rather give Galchenyuk a prove it sort of deal like Labanc's. I could see him taking something like a 1 x 1.5 to a 1 x 2.5 just to prove himself. His numbers haven't been awful for sure, but I'm really not sure he's the real deal. He's a good player with a nasty shot, okay playmaking and an okay 200 foot game when he's on it, but he hasn't been that player since 2016-17. He's lost his confidence and has been a nightmare defensively lately. He could definitely step it up again, and I'd be happy if he did, but taking that risk isn't the best idea imo.

Lots of Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JumboJoe</b></div><div>you think? I mean he's decent now but his contract could be really bad down the road</div></div>
value in the future matters less than now.
since 15-16, Couture has 1.08 P/GP in 60 games (pretty damn good sample size), that's the highest in the league above 25GP
(Mackinnon 1.12 P/GP in 25GP, Leon Draisaitl 1.29 P/GP) in 17GP)
And despite his high point totals, he is still a very reliable 2-way center.
Sure his value would be higher if his contract ran for 4 more years. But some people would have you drink the kool-aid that no team would take Couture because he is getting paid a lot far down the line. If you are in the middle of competing, you are going to be much more focused on building a contending team this year (short-term) rather than your teams finances in 5 years.

I don't really see how Staal & a 2nd is negative value. You can say that's not enough, but that's not negative value

yes I know but Heed really shouldn't be a starting defenseman and Middleton is a solid shutdown guy</div></div>
That number for Smith is the Evolving Wild projection, and there's no way Leivo, a terminal bench warmer who may or may not be a bust, gets anything more than a tryout contract. If he kills it and manages to play a full season without injury then sure, but until he does $1M-$1.25M is the most he'd get.
I really liked Middleton too, especially when he filled the tough guy void that Dilly left. And Heed was thoroughly underrated, he brought a lot of heart as well as a helluva slapshot.
