Blues Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BraydenSchenn10istheGOAT</b></div><div>Please explain to me who these prospects are first of all</div></div>
as you said they both have pretty low value
Halbgewachs just put up 35 points in 55 games which is not the greatest at 23 years of age, but it is improvement given he also put up 35 points the season before, but in 64 games. He's due for a new contract and best case is he would get somewhere in the ballpark of a point per game in the AHL at 24, giving him a decent shot at a 4th line role for the 21-22 season.
Letunov is probably the better of the two. He just put up 40 points in 50 games this season which is a big increase from the previous season where he had less points in more games. He got a short stint in the NHL this season in early February where he did get a goal in the 3 games that he played. I could definitely see him getting around a point per game next season in the AHL and possibly earning a 4th line role during the 20-21 season. He could become a decent 3c one day if all goes well.

Blues Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>Don't trade your 1st rounder for a 32 year-old winger</div></div>
I know we shouldn't be trading our picks but we do have two 2nd rounders, 1 of which is the 3rd pick in the 2nd round
The value is just so good though. He's only making 4 million and was on pace for almost 70 points! He also has 2 years left so I don't see him slowing down during this contract.

Perron is a possibility, although I love the guy and would hate to see him go</div></div>
yeah this was proposed on a Blues team and I thought the value wasn't the best for the Blues
what if we switched the 7th to a 4th?

Questions
Doug has said he's looking to compete next season so I doubt Hertl will be on the trade block though I have heard some rumors along with Labanc and Burns
that trade though definitely isn't enough for Hertl

Full Rebuild Madness
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Yea totally. I will need to examine their team a bit more. But it seems like a few fans think Johnsson or Kapanen from the Leafs would be interesting for San Jose. I am sure some minor tweaks and they can be competitive. A trade like Huberdeau makes them go all in again. Could turn out great.... Or Awful.</div></div>
yeah I do agree Huberdeau would make us great with his affordable contract but after those 3 years we would be a total mess

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Those were my thoughts also. They went all in for Karlsson and it backfired hard. San Jose is an interesting case.</div></div>
definitely
I know a lot of non San Jose fans are calling for a rebuild and I understand. We were 3rd worst in the league and have one of the weakest prospect pools. If you look at the roster though, I still think we can compete by adding a few top 9 forwards and a decent goalie.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>crankshaft</b></div><div>I don't hate it. But the right side is still very weak. I'd rather bring Cobra back. I'd also rather pair Pickles with Merkley as he will require a vet presence with him in year 1</div></div>
true but Labanc and Fast have done well in top 6 roles before. The center depth is also very strong so they kinda cancel each other out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Klara</b></div><div>I think that would be the best opportunity, but with the late season start and the confidence management seems to have, I could see him making the direct jump, he looked good in even last years preseason.
Someone I asked said CAR would retain on them, and I think the potential return of a 2nd + 3rd (likely just 4th) would make that enticing.</div></div>
he could be ready but I don't think 3rd pairing minutes is best for his development
I would rather keep him on the top pair in the AHL for the 20-21 season and give him top power play minutes. Then in the 21-22 season if Burns is traded or chosen by Seattle Merkley can immediately jump into a top 4 role playing with a solid shutdown guy like Vlasic or Simek.
(this could also work if Burns' production falls off a cliff)

solid lineup
I think two 3rd round picks is enough for Reimer but I don't think they will also retain 50%
I also think it's better if Merkley spends the season in the AHL

we could give you a prospect who's already NHL ready like True or Gambrell
They could make an impact (obviously not a big one, at least not yet) and are still improving
