4th rounders have a less than 50% chance of playing a single NHL game and less than 25% chance of playing more than 100. Furthermore, most of the time, these players take 3 or 4 years to reach the NHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JustanIdea</b></div><div>That's the big problem with this site. Is that there are very few trades where that people agree on because you love every player on you're favourite team and don't want to see them go unless it's for an offer that's to good to ignore which is the bias in a lot of posters as they want to get an outlandish offer rather than look at reality and see the value as it means one of there favourite players is going.</div></div>
Yes 100% agree. I try to stay positive for the most part. But there are always those people on here who just comment and say "EDM says no, he's with a 1st, not even close". Then proceed to have pointless arguments lol. Personally I would love to somehow see EDM sign Kane, trade for Brown, and trade for D Strome's rights and sign him. That would be an unreal forward group, like wow haha.

Solid take. I appreciate seeing you say that you along with other fans overvalue Brown at times. A lot of fans (including myself) overvalue players on favourite teams, and can't come to terms with a value more accurate lol.

As an Edmonton fan I don't really see a need for Austin Watson. If the Oilers want someone like that they could get Nick Deslauriers as a UFA for similar AAV and no trade needed. Although the retention on Brown's Salary is nice. Would be nice for Oil to just add in a pick instead of Savoie for some salary retention and Kassian's cap dump. Although I see what you are doing there with the players and proposals, and I don't think you're too far off. Good suggestion!

I just really think that the team and the city really want an arena downtown cause that opens up tons of options.</div></div>
I agree the all parties "want" but it's the "who pays" is the issue. I want to date a super hot 20 year old, but I don't want pay for the privilege (I'm 68)
But I wish Ottawa and their fans all the best.

No worries, the NHL owners will just takeover the pay all the expenses like they did before. The NHL owners like to think their franchises are worth 800m, even the ones losing money. So many owners are so afraid for a franchise to fail and be worth NOTHING, because the reality is, so many of the NHL clubs are unprofitable are certainly aren't worth the franchise fees that Seattle paid.</div></div>

According to Russo's article on the trade return.
Blake was the first GM to call Guerin today. And while the other teams had shown interest they hadn't made any offers to date. So when Blake called today and gave Guerin what he considered a *fair* offer. He delt him. No other actual bidding took place.
One could certainly argue that Guerin should have at least seen if one of Dorion, Fitzgerald, or Lou was willing to make their own offers and see if he couldn't drive up the price. But he has long said he's not looking to fleece someone and simply wants what he feels is fair value for his players. 🤷♂️

Lol there were plenty of reasonable Wild fans proposing or discussing returns very similar to 19th + Faber. Id even argue that 19th OA + Grans was probably one of the most popular frameworks on this site.
But yeah, always nice to hear some veiled condescension from a 3rd party, so cheers bud.

Definitely a factor to consider as well. As for Jarventie, I would have rather had the TBL 2nd. He’s a fine prospect but he’s still 2-3 years away from really drawing an opinion on IMO, could easily turn into something tho.

There are fewer Zub's then Boeser's in the league. Zub is certainly not as sexy of a name, but he is such an important part to any team wanting a wicked right-handed defensive defenceman who makes everyone on the ice better. Quinn Hughes would have a field day with opponents with Zub on the ice.

Solid, sure, but his two main faults do not go well with our system. He's not great at standing up the line and his giveaways tend to come in bad places in the D zone.

I'm not completely confident in that statement. Forwards have gained a lot of speed, and Mikkola isn't not nearly as fast. Yes he got better, but he also took a lot of dumb penalties. I don't think Mikkola is more than a Bottom pairing defenseman, but that's just me. I'd take Mikkola over Scandella anyday of the week though.

Yeah, Idk if either of them are ready for 2nd pairing minutes. I don't really trust Parayko right now either. If I had to guess based on performances and matchups you'd probably put Perunovich with Bortuzzo and Mikkola with Parayko. Perunovich would be probably a good pairing with a big defenseman in Parayko, but right now I wouldn't give him huge minutes just work him into the lineup.

Barbashev is probably being moved. Most likely will need a stop gap until Perunovich and Mikkola are fully ready for the big minutes. I'd obviously look at using Tucker and a couple of our other LDs in the near future such as Loof and Galloway. Pettersson doesn't exactly fit the bill as someone else likely would. I'm more interested in seeing Perron getting that or maybe even a little cheaper of a deal. Bozak is most likely not coming back another year. I think we have way too many 4th line checking centers who could fill that gap. Joshua, Toropchenko, Brown, etc. So most likely Barbashev, Bozak, out.
