(CGY/FLA) - Tkachuk for Huberdeau, Weegar, Schwindt
Holy ****. Capital B Blockbuster.
This is fun. Is this what the NBA feels like all the time?
Seriously what the hell is the Atlantic divison? This arms race is just getting silly.
And with everything going on, will Huberdeau want to stay in Calgary? His contract is up soon. Weegar's contract is up too btw. I don't see why not but I didn't see why not with Tkachuk or Gaudreau either so.
Anyway time to be controversial: Huberdeau is a great playmaker, one of the best, but he is very one dimensional in his talents and as such gets overrated. Weegar is great so that helps to even it out but with the contracts I'd rather Tkachuk signed for 8 years at 9.5.
Literally who cares about a 1st in the year 3000. Time value is a thing people. That guy won't play until 2030.
I like this for Florida much more than for Calgary. They should have gone for a futures package and rebuilt (Lundell, etc from Florida). They weren't good enough before, just got worse and if they can't sign Huberdeau they are ****ed. And now they have missed on the top of the 2023 draft class too. Not that its a bad return, hell its a good return but I just don't think its the RIGHT return

Fully healthy, Hjalmarsson is head and shoulders above everyone. Doughty hasn't been the defensive stalwart of days gone by for a couple of years now.

4. Ekholm
5. Dillon
6. Tanev
7. Giordano
8. Weber
9. Vlasic
10. Doughty

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jzoni10</b></div><div>Why trade Murphy?</div></div>
The ONLY reason to entertain the thought of trading Murphy would be to acquire a better defenseman. I see far too many “dump” trades involving Murphy for a forward. It DOES NOT make the club better.

That's a very solid deal. AAV isn't high and he will be 33 when the deal expires.

Time is running out Stan
So what's the TL;DR on this argument? From the brief parts i read it looks like HatterTParty is an angry fan who hates Bowman but is incapable of rational thought and conversation. Exo looks to be defending Stan, not sure why, and saying Tallon didn't win three cups, which i agree with.
Stan has been trash the last 4 years. Most of his signings are too high. He is probably 50-50 on trades but the ones in which he has lost, HE HAS F****** LOST. Bad. Like bad bad.
He doesn't know when the right time to make a move is. He is HORRIBLE at managing the cap despite how people thinks he's some cap genius. He fired Q (you can have your opinions on whether that was right or not. I certainly have mine) only to bring in a nobody with nearly zero experience at any level who is proving to be quite incompetent.

Time is running out Stan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I just don't buy for a second that Tallon...who has won zero cups is responsible for 3 cups. Did it take a genius to Draft Kane/Toews...NO, NO IT DIDN'T! How much of a genius is Chia for drafting McDavid?!?! This is the ONLY reason people Love Tallon. Remember Campbell's $7M+ contract. That was horrible, but he understood the situation and that Hawks could take it. I understand we're in a prisoner of the moment scenario...so blame everyone. I get it. He's responsible for this team as it is today. HE'S ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR 3 CUPS. He brought in Zeus. Yes he's made mistakes, but you only focus on the negative. EVERY GM has negatives. Why hire any GM ever then?! Look at Rutherford. People call him a genius, but just look at his trades and signings. They're some of the worst moves out of any team.
***EDIT*** I'd Fire John McDonough 7 times before Bowman.</div></div>
Okay, first off, you can’t even compare Tallon to Bowman. Tallon has his name on the 2010 cup, albeit not as a GM which is a ****ing travesty. The Campbell contract? You bring it up like it’s comparable to seabrook or something. It’s not! Campbell was still a top dman and easily moveable!!! Tallon brought in ladd, versteeg, Campbell, sharp, havlat and hossa. He didn’t do a damn thing to disrupt the best core in hockey or sign **** contracts that couldn’t be moved. His worst mistake was the goofy face machine incident.
Having said that, please don’t preach that bowman was responsible for 2010, cuz he wasn’t. Bowman maintained the team and put depth around the core. He didn’t add to it. However, you, exo, always like to argue what he’s done right in the last 18 months to 2 years. What he’s done hasn’t worked! No matter how it looks on paper, forget it, it didn’t work. His ideas don’t work anymore!
Also, what does firing McD solve? Honestly, what does effect does that have on anything?

(DET/EDM) - Green for Brodziak and a conditional 4th round pick
Don’t the Oilers already have a bunch of bottom pairing D? Don’t get me wrong they gave practically nothing for Green, but if they play him in their top 4…. That’s a bad move. His offense is gone, and he’s become a giveaway machine...
Point of the trade deadline is to add players to help you win. Not just add guys for the sake of it. I think this is a bad move, even if it cost almost nothing.
