Zads is a shutdown D. Montreal needs a LH puck moving D. The 1st round is most likely to be 25+, it's not enough to make Bergevin thinks about moving Domi.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>then you need to make Domi a better player if you think adding Girard is even in the realm of value needed for him.
Yikes</div></div>
That is enterely true sir, apologies for this non sense. But, this is the kind of player MB will target with Domi (not saying he is worth Girard 1vs1)

Domi is also young. Montreal would not take that trade sorry.

If Goaltending is an issue
i won't argue over value here only over MB's philosophy to build with the draft. He traded 0 1st round pick since being GM, it won't start with a top 10 in what might be the best draft in a couple of years.
Also, Fleury is a good prospect (i don't know exactly whats his value) but, he is still a prospect which means you never know. MB won't trade for a "never know" right now especially when there's huge chance Romanov is in the roster next year

Summer 2020 Big trades with WPG STL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>I didn't say that, now did I? I said Allen + Steen.</div></div>
<a href="https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/steenal01.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/steenal01.html</a>
<a href="https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/m/marlepa01.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/m/marlepa01.html</a>
Steen 17 in 55 --> 0.31ppg
Marleau 37 in 82 --> 0.45 ppg
Let's agree that Marleau was a better point producer than Steen but he was on a 35+ contract so the buyout was less friendly. You have to value what's worst for you : 2 years of lower buy out cap hit or 1 years of higher buy out cap hit, that's completely up to the team who's doing it. BUT, you can't argue that they are not in the same "situation" of being a dump by the team who's trading them a.k.a STL here. This move gives you the space to sign Pietrangelo for 10,1 millions if my math are correct. Wouldn't agree that STL with Piet/Lindgren is better then STL with Steen/Allen? I'm not saying this trade is perfect. I like the idea as a habs fan because we can absord the 10 millions but i see no use in Steen nor Allen. A late first rounder to resign Piet, and you are whinning? Are you really a fan?
<a href="/users/GMs" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@GMs</a> good job overall

Labanc - 4 years 4-4.8mil
Cirelli - 6 years 6.6 mil
Labanc - 6 years 5.5 mil
Cirelli - 8 years 7 mil</div></div>
TB can't afford to sign Cirelli this much. I'd try to negotiate a trade before OS this price.

Offering the sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>My only argument is Cirelli brings a lot more to a team then offence. He brings a lot more to a team then Domi. Point wise yes you could say no more then 6; but he’s an amazing two way Center for his age. He should only get better with experience and growth. If his output comparative is 6, I would say his defence and reliability give him a fair shot at 7 as to why I argue that I could see 8 possibly being a sound deal if he puts up 50-70 in San Jose and continues his defensive excellence</div></div>
Cirelli brings defense. Domi brings grit and intensity. Both are non-offense quality. Both opinions are fine. My point is, Labanc is currently at 33 points and Cirelli would be around 32 (more or less). Seems a bit to give him 4 million more.

They would take the compensation if it's 2 1st, a 1st - 2nd - 3rd from a contender does not interest them. The pipeline are full of young talents already.

Offering the sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>He’s worth at least 6 no? 7 is fair but 8 is a lot but he also could grow into it, and he’s already been incredibly good in his young career</div></div>
He's been great, even very good. But you still have to consider he's playing for the best offense right now (244). Let's translate that to SJ's offense (180) for fun : 44/244 = 18,03% = 32 points for SJ. I know it does not work like this, but his stats are definitively inflated by TB's offense.
I will use Domi's contract negociation since i'm from MTL. They both have 44 points, yes domi is 3 years older but Domi had 38 in 59 3 years ago on a poor offensive team which is around the same. I would never have considered paying Domi that much at this moment and even now, he's worth something around 6-6.5 IMO

Byron c'était pour la masse seulement. Oui il apporte beaucoup, mais il coute très cher. Et on peut changer un des deux attaquants pour garder Kulak sans problème!

For one. You are always complaining about everything while your proposition are always trash.
For two, if Bergevin brings a young 1st center, he will be admire in Montreal.

33 millions + cap raise + Alzner's BO. Let's round up to 37-38 millions of cap space for :
Tatar (5,5)
Gallagher (5.5-6)
Danault (5.5-6)
KK (maybe 2,5?)
Poehling (maybe 2?)
Petry (do they really keep him? If so, let's say same amount giving the age so 5.5)
Fleury (depends on the season, let's say 2.5)
30 millions. Add Caufield and Romanov for a combined 1,85 you have 32 millions. Still have 5-6 millions free (if any contracts are different). Please explain me how montreal loose Danault ?
