Flames Trades - OTT MIN MTL TOR
I think my favorite part are the people who state as a matter of fact that this team is not accepting an offer as if they were actually just offered these trades and if they are in the front office. LOL. Keep in mind that literally every one of these, unless its Brad Treliving, is wishful thinking, and they are all going to have some sort of element of "not gonna happen". I mean I did one where we traded for Malkin, I dont actually think thats gonna happen haha. I think that your right, I couldn't see Lehner sign for that, but I think that he will sign for not far off, he may end up being the best bang for your buck, IF he makes it to UFA. And if he leaves, when NYI could have him at a discounted price and lets him walk, I would just make sure homework is done as to why. As far as the MTL wouldn't take Brodie for 2x2, if not them, I believe that is a very reasonable market price for Brodie, and if not MTL, I think 2x2 would be easy to get for Brodie. I wouldn't but someone will, and I also think because of his cap friendly contract he will be attractive to teams, and he has good term. Very marketable asset. I dont like this scenerio at all, but as far as realism and modest take home for your trades, I think you did a good job on this one, and again I don't like the make up, but this could happen hypothetically

Mark Stone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KH44</b></div><div>I disagree. Maybe you have to make a different deal, but I highly doubt any deal contains two first rounders, a second, and then some. Take out the 2020 first, add some prospects, or get rid of both 2020 picks and add a mix of young NHLers and prospects maybe, but not those three picks and then more.</div></div>
Yep I agree with you KH44, I think people forget that Stone is a pending UFA. There is no guarantee he signs in Ottawa and they would otherwise lose him for much less if they don't trade him at the TDL, so they lose a lot in trade negotiations as a result. Yeah he's good but with no guarantee he signs an extension with the team he's being traded to, there is no way Ottawa will get more than that for him.... and even then.
Two 1sts and a 2nd would literally get you any "pure" rental to have ever been made available in the modern era of hockey 2000-present. In fact the only time two outright 1sts were included in a TDL trade was for Martin St Louis back in 13-14 but TB also included a 2nd rounder going back the other way, St Louis still had another year left on his contract after that TDL and St Louis is not only an all star but a future HOF.
Yeah, Stone is going to get more than two 1sts and a 2nd? Yeah right. Unless he agrees to sign an extension in principle once the trade is struck, no way he gets more than that. It really hinges on his future contract.

Lucic-Alzner

I doubt that. Lucic has the longer contract and the higher cap hit. Although the difference isn't a 2nd. Somewhere around a 3rd and 6th would be fair I think.

Flames Cap Crunch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>How do you know your team hasn't been managed well? You miss the playoffs and will be in a big cap crunch in the near future. The flames have issues coming up, they are kind of young but have a lot of older guys on bigger contracts, (Neal, Giordano, Smith) and also lack secondary depth. I see some hard times ahead for this squad.</div></div>
Alone in Brouwer, Frolik, Stone, Brodie, Hamonic, Smith there is 25 million dollars off the books in the next 2 years, plus the cap potentially increasing, there is a problem for 1 year and all that requires is a buyout or trade of either Brouwer or Stone. If we keep any of those guys none of them are due substantial raises unless Brodie returns to for, in which case he won't be any higher than 5.5...
That leaves 13 million (without buyouts or trades) next year to re sign Bennett (not a substantial raise) Lazar (won't be back) Kulak (disposable) Tkachuk (6 million range) and a veteran goalie if need be. You start moving money out then there is absolutely zero problem. Guys in the AHL are ready for NHL jobs so there is no need to go out and spend to fill those positions and in 2020-21 when the big numbers coming off then we have 40.55 million to re sign Tkachuck Bennett possible Vet Goalie (previous year) one of Brodie or Hamonic, Jankowski and Czarnik.
The only long term deals on this team are Gio, Johnny, Monahan, Neal, Lindholm Backlund, possibly Hanifin only 3 of those guys are over the age of 25 and all of them are key to the core of the Flames. It is absurd to think that there are dark times coming because of cap issues. And secondary depth was addressed appropriately this off season.
Edit: I just saw whose post I quoted and replied to, now I'm sad I wasted my time trying to have a hockey conversation. Queue the examples that have zero relevance to the situation

Flames Cap Crunch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>Trade Frolik, buyout Stone and re-sign Hanifin longterm</div></div>
I think that our simplest option would be to just move Stone for a late pick, it's not much but Andersson is ready for the NHL and Frolik is a good defensive guy to have on a line to insulate younger guys like Jankowski.

CGY trade + Kovalchuk
I think that offer would work in terms or value but it wouldn’t happen. I think Calgary would be looking for Hayes or even Namnestnikov. Don’t really think they’d want Zuuc cause they already have playmakers and wingers. Plus, he’s getting older and has an expiring contract.

Trades w/ CGY & MIN
Flames aren't trading Tkachuk for 30+ year old Simmonds, a dime a dozen back up goalie and a flat lining prospect.
It's a nice dream though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KH44</b></div><div>Tavares will need seven years, and more like 12.5 mil. This looks like a deal, instead of an overpay.</div></div>
The signing is 7 years. This is after next seasons team that is why I reduced it to 6. I think I did that for a fe players I fixed the money too
