No, they don't, and they don't add a 2nd round pick either.

Question for Jets fans
If the jets current success carries over into playoffs, I can see a world where dubois signs for the medium term (3-4 years). Hellebuyck and Scheifele are on record saying that they want to be here as long as winning is the plan (ie not rebuilding) so id imagine resigning them won't be too bad. Even if dubois wants out, the jets will probably trade him like they did Trouba to get help now and a 1st.

I keep seeing this over and over. Dubois never said he wanted out of WPG, although his agent did say that he might have an interest in playing for MTL at some point in his career. I personally think that he's going to end up signing a generous bridge deal with WPG for 3-4 years around the 9-9.5m mark this offseason. After that, I could see him choosing to play for MTL.

Yeah, I can appreciate your line of thought there for sure. I'm on the cautious side as well, so I wouldn't do anything at all for how. Once the Jets get everyone healthy, then we can see how they look and where they stand at the TDL and go from there. For me, I'm just not rocking the boat now with a huge trade when the team is still playing very well.
It's just too early to start making huge moves.

Would love to find away to keep that 23 first and then firsts for scheifele and Dubois and nobody walks for free, but damn would it be nice to have some june hockey or a chance of winning the last game of the year, just one time

There's probably slim to no chance the Jets consider these deals. Especially the Jersey one.
There just isn't a reason for Winnipeg to look at deals like this at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KPasty</b></div><div>Honestly i cant think of any of the D i'd WANT to trade right now. They're all rowing in the right direction under Bowness right now... in my opinion anyway. But personally i'd say Schmidt ONLY because he plays his offside and Severson replacing him and it would mostly likely open the slot for Heinola to come in and supplant Samberg (even though he's been pretty good). DeMelo has been such a stabilizing force on the 3rd pair its tough to get rid of that. But i see the argument</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Dillon isn't the dman to trade, DeMelo is.</div></div>
I think Schmidt with his cap hit would be the hardest to trade and I think Dillon brings the best return. Also I think with the young LHD having a solid RHD in Demelo would be good for helping them develop.

Would prefer to not trade Torgersson, maybe send them another pick instead or one of the many D prospects the Jets have. Jets are really going to need a Toews/backup 2C if they want to make a deep run.
Schenn isn't enough of an upgrade to that defense and Van probably prefers to keep him anyway.
Isles decline that and don't see Beauvillier as a need anyway.

Lambert has gotta stay for a few games
If Lambert is a centre....he has play big minutes in the AHL instead of been stuck behind the Jets centre. But really he should be at the AHL anyway, and getting use to North American ice and style of play.
I wouldn't put too much stock in how a player performs in pre season., playing against AHLers, and even non AHLers.
But happy for the Jets and Lambert if this 30 pick overall turns out to be great value.

Lambert doesn't play more than 9 games. Then he gets sent to the AHL and forms a duo with Lucius. Have Lucius as the top line center and Lambert as a right winger.
The roster looks spot on. I would swap Apple and Saku.
Fourth line should be Saku, Gus, and Gagner.
After Lambert gets sent down put Apple in his place.
Hopefully Berdin plays the last preseason game. I would like to see how he does.

I’m surprised more didn’t freak out over this. This is probably what MTL would offer because they can probably get him in FA anyways.
I’d imagine jets flip pld to a contender looking to load up for 2 playoff runs if their season goes downhill.
Although apparently Sean reynolds has an interesting 1on1 interview with PLD coming out in which PLD talks about potential long term relationship with the jets. Probably all just posturing though.

Zero chance Winnipeg does that. They're not waiting 3 years for a first, taking back a cap dump or accepting a lowball return for 2 years of Dubois.
At this point of the season there would need to be a comparable young, top 6 center coming back for Winnipeg to consider anything.

Why would the Jets give up the far better player to get a cap dump?
Hoffman likely costs a first to dump. That's $9.0 mil you're asking a team to throw away. They aren't going to give you the better player to do that.

The comments about leadership and issues were completely overblown last year and sensationalized by the media. He's a team first guy.</div></div>

thanks for input, just a few fact corrections.
Nylander and Scheifele both have 2 years left, and both probably leave Winnipeg after 2 years. However, Winnipeg has money to throw at Nylander, he may stay.
Whether Nylander is better or not, he doesnt fit with this team. He played with matthews and they were creating chances by themselves not together. He goes with Tavares and they dont mesh and he goes to the third line. Sheifele would push Tavares to LW which leafs have been wanting to do but dont have a Center for it, as Kerfoot isnt a 2nd line Center.
<a href="/users/logan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@logan</a> u calling me a troll yet you cant even get facts straight. Tell me how Nylander has more term
Also, atleast Scheifele bodychecks, we need someone tough to play with Tavares

It's been said before but I don't think the Canucks and Isles line up on a trade. Canucks would be looking for young RHD and the Isles have none that are movable.</div></div>
