it was stipulated on the Jets qualifying to the the playoffs or signing Eakin by July 5th. They were ousted by Calgary in the Q-round and Eakin signed in Buffalo, so the pick is fine.

True, but at least Subban can be useful in a top 4 role. Eriksson is not gonna get anywhere near his $6M cap hit for Vancouver.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>every team declines.
TB is screwed.
Teams right now are working on signing their RFAs. When teams are done with that they will worry about making trades with TB. The problem is, no one is going to have any cap room.
Teams that do, aren't just giving it away, given the economics of it, most teams are on internal caps and simply not looking to spend it.
I think the TB plan, is to let other teams spend their cap and then tell their RFAs this is the best we can do in hopes that they can't do no better anywhere else given teams cap.</div></div>
Winnipeg takes that deal and runs. They’ll figure out the cap by burying Beaulieu and Perrault.

Plus.
Will Canuck fans stop trying to sign Hoffman.
HE IS NOT SIGNING HERE. WHY WOULD HE? Why would the Canucks pay him?</div></div>
For the Canucks 1 year low risk stop gap until Podkolzin comes next year. And for Hoffman gets to play with a good young team with Horvat or Petey as his C and get PP time. Gets to further establish himself for a potential bigger contract next offseason. What’s not the like for both parties?

Arizona is going nowhere fast
Yup, they blew their chance to kick start a rebuild by dumping OEL on Vancouver but got greedy and tried to get Demko/Hoglander/Podkolzin added to the deal and call OEL’s bluff on his deadline to be traded. Now they’re stuck paying for him unless he gives them another trade window, but that won’t be until least next year.

Jets will not trade Laine for a trade centered around Weegar. Ekblad would have to be part of the deal but the cats don’t add a 1st. Tinkering on both sides. Was thinking something more, Laine and Pionk for Ekblad and Vatrano

To the contrary, he gets less since it’s an expiring deal At the deadline. TDL is changing and firsts Plus major prospects don’t get tossed out anymore. You might get a 1st and a A-/B+ prospect now and a roster player. But come TDL it’ll be less. Unless you get someone desperate but GM’s are more calculated Than to pay that obnoxious price.

The Fixer for Jimbos Mess
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canuckel_head</b></div><div>Dude. I like it.
I think if you are adding Virtanen as a piece you should be looking to move Eriksson. Add something else to the deal. I like the Hainsey signing, but better to get someone that can share with Jordie Benn on the RD, unless you think that Rathbone or Brisebois can come in. I dont think you need to sign Bourque either, Lind looks like he needs a taste of NHL.</div></div>
Great points, my hesitation in adding something to deal Erikkson is that it would probably cost a high draft pick which I don’t think the Canucks should be parting with after not having a 1st or 2nd this year, Hainsey can play both sides which I like cause he’d be a good mentour for the lower pairing guy like Rathbone or play with Benn or Edler in a shutdown role. As for Bourque I bring him in over Lind purely for the potential bonus factor. Peter and Hughes are almost undoubtedly going to hit all their bonuses which will screw there cap and by bringing Lind in you run the risk of screwing your set in that regard. But I do think Lind is a better option. Maybe a mid season call up to mitigate the risk.

As a Jets fan, I’d do that deal, Jets don’t have any high end RHD prospects. So it would be welcomed to have one in Wilde. IMO

65-75 point guy in Ehlers at $6M is not worth almost $3M in extra salary in Marner cause he puts up 85-95 points. Jets have other financial problems they don’t need to compound them with Marner by trading our best team contract next to Scheifele

Yea let’s not jump off the deep end here... atrocious skating does not put up 111 points in 61 games. He’s a bit undersized, needs to build up his lower half strength 9 games in the nhl and then back to the O will do him good. He’ll be a jet by 2021-22.

Statsny does not go for a 2nd and a 3rd. Buyers market and Vegas is hamstrung with the flat cap. Might be 4th and a B prospect at best. Maybe a bit more if Vegas retains. But 2 high picks.,, not happening

And Winnipeg would demand the 8th OA. You'd have to swap Cozens in for Mittelstadt if you want the 2021 pick to be sent instead of the 8OA.

Also like Marleau, I believe Mason was in the last year of his contract. Eriksson has what, 2, 3 years left? Not even close to happening in a normal nhl salary cap situation, tie in covid and a flat cap for the next few years, youre smoking some good ganja.</div></div>
Marleau over 35 when signed the contract which means even with a buyout cap hit was locked in at $6M so that necessitates a 1st agreed. Mason, 1 year left cost Montreal $1,366,667/year for 2 years. Eriksson 2 years left, Vancouver RETAINING 50% Means Ottawa’s (And Vancouver still)CapHit (not actual money) is only $2,833,333 year 1 and then $1,833,333 the year after then $333,333 the last 2 years. Maybe at a mid level prospect but not getting anything more than a 2nd. And btw the ganja is not bad. But no clouding of my judgement or opinion on the matter.

Montreal bought out Steve Mason for a bottom 6 Forward in Armia and a 4th and a 7th. Difference is they weren’t in a position like ottawa where Dead Cap is what the covet right now.

In case you didn’t read or notice. Ottawa in this scenario buys out Eriksson and he only has 2 years left.
