Boesers cost
The Canucks get a much better deal in the offseason for Boeser. No point in trading him for pennies on the dollar now. Unless they get some overpay.

Would this work
I think a deal for Whitecloud, Dean, 23' 1st, 24' 3rd for Horvat and Schenn would probably be more palatable for the Canucks. They don't want to take on Karlsson's salary and would like to re sign Kuzmenko.

Usually when trading assets at the deadline you're not giving up high picks. Sure Bourgeault, might objectively be worth it. But this isn't a deal the Canucks should be doing considering they're not making the playoffs and want draft capital in this deep upcoming draft.

Question for Jets fans
I see a scenario with the Jets not knowing the future of the 3 who are UFA after next season that there will be a lot of activity at the deadline and they'll consider this a "Go For it" year spending their 1st and prospects. If there is success in the playoffs, going multiple rounds then forsure I see the possibility of the Jets not going that route and like mentioned above trying to extend those 3 in the 3-5 year range and then going towards the rebuild retool route after that.

ITS A FIRESALE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Maybe. Rentals never work out and while Kane isn't your standard rental, that's a ridiculously high price to pay. I can't see the Jets moving their first unless it's for a younger, up and coming player with term or a young star with term. High of which have amidst no chance of happening.
It doesn't really matter anyways, Kane isn't accepting a trade to Winnipeg.</div></div>
Dare to dream i guess. im usually always on the cautious end of not trading futures, but this season seems to be one of those go for it years. i think the window is this and next with uncertainty with Scheif, Helle and Duby. So might not be the worst time to be giving up those assets for rentals, whether that Kane (unlikely) or others.

I mean if that's the only price for Kane, i think the Jets would pay that. I think the Heinola train was left the station in Winnipeg personally. Barron is a tough loss but you gotta give to get. If you're going for it, this seems like a reasonable price to pay. Him with Connor and Dubois yes please! Ehlers, Scheif, Wheels. That is the best top 6 in the NHL and its not even close.

I think Seattle would recognize this isn’t a “go for it” year and should listen to trade offers on most players. They’ve played well but they don’t have the depth yet to compete. So why not get more assets for a player who could walk at seasons end

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Garland is nice, but the need for some size in top 6 is lacking and could be interesting going forward with scheifele/Dubois contract status basically on the same timeline, that could lead to good or bad adventures going forward, but punching forward into some unseen territory could be worth the swing. One broke city if this team makes the finals lol</div></div>
Another thing going for the jets is that if it’s clear that they’re not going to sign scheif or dubby, they got enough good prospects in mcgroraty, lambert, zhilkin coming up that they could realistically do a re tool on the fly. But hopefully a move like this would pan out and bring a cup to the Peg.

Let’s pump the brakes on Norris candidate talk here. He’s had a great start and still is a -5 so that offence is hiding defensive issues. That said. No team is taking on a full cap hit for Karlsson and it ain’t gonna be at $1M retained either. Maybe Edmonton could bump up the offer a little bit. But the return San Jose inevitably gets will be less than what you’d expect.

If the 2024 2nd rounder is the pick, Hawks are gonna ask for one of Jets young F prospects - Chinikov, McGroaty, Zhilkin instead of Harkins and Stanley</div></div>
Dont think the Jets would trade Chibrikov, or McGroarty in a rental situation, but Zhilkin is an option

Honestly i cant think of any of the D i'd WANT to trade right now. They're all rowing in the right direction under Bowness right now... in my opinion anyway. But personally i'd say Schmidt ONLY because he plays his offside and Severson replacing him and it would mostly likely open the slot for Heinola to come in and supplant Samberg (even though he's been pretty good). DeMelo has been such a stabilizing force on the 3rd pair its tough to get rid of that. But i see the argument

Lambert has gotta stay for a few games
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>If Lambert is a centre....he has play big minutes in the AHL instead of been stuck behind the Jets centre. But really he should be at the AHL anyway, and getting use to North American ice and style of play.
I wouldn't put too much stock in how a player performs in pre season., playing against AHLers, and even non AHLers.
But happy for the Jets and Lambert if this 30 pick overall turns out to be great value.</div></div>
He's a natural Center, but he's been playing RW all pre season. He's looked sharp there, especially playing with Perfetti on the other wing. He made some incredible plays with a 4th liner in Toninato as his Center last night and Calgary iced an almost entire NHL roster. That said, you're absolutely right he should be in the AHL playing big minutes. But i do think he deserves a couple games in the NHL in the Reg season to get a more thorough evaluation against more NHL talent. If he pans out, he might end up being the steal of the draft at 30.

They both have 2 years left, Scheifele is a PPG or better player each of the last 6 years, and plays Centre, Nylander has never hit a PPG albeit close this year. He also plays centre which is way more valuable then a winger. The only thing you've gotten correct is that he's younger. The comments about leadership and issues were completely overblown last year and sensationalized by the media. He's a team first guy.

Scheifele has more value in this case cause A) he's a Centre and B) his cap hit is lower, albeit slightly. Adding Sandin, to a situation where the Jets already have a glut of young LHD isn't moving the needle to bridge the gap and on top of that giving up Heinola. Jets would not do this. Also, high probability that Nylander would just leave in 2 years anyway, so really the Jets would get 2 years of Nylander and Sandin for a #1C and a top D prospect. I dont think the Jets even consider this framework unless Knies is added to the deal and that would be a non started for the Leafs. Especially their fans.
